  1. I don't care about carbon footprint why should I.

Exactly. Who cares? If you're going to own a car and drive it, you're damaging the environment, period.

You can argue about carbon this and pollutant that all day, but at the end of it all, a car that's slightly less bad for the environment than another car that's really bad for the environment, is still a car that's really bad for the environment.

My advice? These EV car companies need to stop trying to put green (or blue) lipstick on environmental pigs, and instead focus on the actual merits their products can lay claim to, e.g. cheaper running costs, better acceleration, and quieter ride etc - if in fact their designs achieve them...

Thanks for clearing that! they always argue the "which is greener" topic...i just fall into their traps all the time. why cant they realize that, like so many new EV's out there, the performance outpaces normal ICE cars, as does maintenance and long term savings on an owner's pocket...

  2. There is also the production conundrum. Manufacturing a new electric car creates a massive carbon footprint.

If you wanted a car you would do less damage to the environment and save money overall by buying an existing second hand car.....

Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app

even cleaner when my company creates ev conversions for existing car owners...which is an objective in our company...

  3. Edit: Let me preface this by saying I love the concept of electric vehicles, 2, 3 and 4 wheels. I could probably make minor adjustments in my habits and an electric vehicle could serve over 3/4 of my driving needs.

But they aren't all things for all people and making unreasonable claims is not going to advance the cause....

    Now, my original post:

I can't seem to get past the OP's claim (selling point) that gasoline and diesel evaporate through steel containers and through engines. I've got cans of Coleman fuel that have been on the shelf for 20+ years and still haven't evaporated.

Once the credibility is gone, all selling points seem to be pretty suspect....

allright, here is a link as an easy explanation for you guys that doubt...click the link and scroll below, where you can find a video...

    http://green.autoblo...to-15-a-gallon/

(edit) or just a youtube link:

note the heat element for it to evaporate...you wouldnt see water evaporating in your garage or basement either, right?

  4. @ kartman I am building my own ev company. but this car is my role model and gave me the courage to start it. so as an enthusiast, i want it :)

@aussiebebe I heard the insurance is between 100,000-200,000 baht per year. It is way too high....for my ev car it would be way lower, close to normal vehicle owners :) There are currently 4 tesla roadster owners in thailand, 2 nissan leaf owners as well...and 2 mitsubishi imiev owners.

@warpspeed i know dude, this is an awesome racing ev. it regenerates also from the suspension system too. time to change the world

  5. Any Idea how much the Aircon Uses, when its110 and your stuck in a Gridlock.?.whistling.gif

Also I am not sure about imported tarrifs. Thailand doesn't clearly state them. However, another person stated in my other topic that it is about 80% import duty, 10% excise tax and a little more percentages here and there. You CANNOT as a customer, call up tesla and buy it directly from the states. You must, in thailand, use an import company or start your own company and sell them. so the 8.5 million baht includes eton's profit. after all, it is a business that he is running.

THB 2.6m in the USA (USD 85,000)

THB 8.5m in Thailand (USD 275,000)

    Crackers.

Correct AND they don't quite sound right eh. cowboy.gif

I know right?? It is quite silly, since they have that eco car segment that shouldn't be more that 1200cc and have pollution regulations. In my opinion, electric cars fall right under this segment because they have no cc's and have no "direct" pollution....

so the Tesla should be 0% import tax on it dammit!!! if it was, i would buy it immediately as im not married and have no kids so perfect for me!!!

  6. The problem with electricity is not storing it, but transporting it. If you can transport it it cheap enough, there is no need to store it. Batteries are a work-around, not a solution.

Really? you want to go to storage issues of batteries and their transportation costs? how much does it cost the entire process of crude oil? finding location to dig $$, getting experts $$, damaging nature $$$, machinery $$$, piping $$$, sea operations $$$$$$, war $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, drilling $$$$$$$$, cost of lives at the workplace $$$$, transporting crude oil back to land $$$$$, refinery process $$$$$, storage $$$, transport to petrol stations $$$$, emissions regulations $$$$ (if any), fueling up a standard car $$$$, production of that car $$, maintenance $$$$$$ (see below link), cost to customers $$$$$$$.

compary this to electric cars please...

  7. To everyone,

    Thanks for your interest everyone.

We have been looking at range extender (hybrids) designs like the Karma or Volt, but in the end, why make 2 problems in one package. With an EV only drive train, your maintenance is way lower than a standard ICE vehicle.

Nevertheless, we are keeping the range extender idea IF we are going to use it from renewable energy sources. one of these is a solar panel (actually like the Karma) on the roof of the car. Another is a free energy generator instead of a 600cc ICE generator. This generator works forever, while driving or parked, creating energy that is stored into the battery. Essentially, if the car is parked and the battery ends up full, you could feed it back to the grid, if only the government would allow such feedback systems in place.

More will be disclosed sometime in March, in the Bangkok or Nonthaburi areas.

For anyone that is highly interested in technology or loves EV's and their many benefits, please send me a message on ThaiVisa for an invitation to the party, so I can keep a record of you.

    Thanks again everyone.

Oh, and hydrogen is a way those oil giants are just trying to replace their income if you research a little more in depth behind who is setting it all up, plus it leaks and evaporates, just like gasoline does through your engine.

  8. I can see your idealogical ideas in what you say Tony but how many restaurants/sight seeing places will supply you charging power for your car while you eat/go looking? I guess a Hybrid car will do better in that regard.

That said, in our car (Honda City 06) about 90% of all our trips are under 100 km around Pattaya area, for shopping - eating out & and a walk on the beach so a car you are building are making sense for sure so I wish you all the best luck with the project.

Hi, yep at least you are thinking....unlike many previous users on my other posts...

However, while your car is parked, does it generate electricity (or fuel in that matter)?

Let me give you a small statistic (only one, there are many others): while a normal car (ICE engine) is parked in the sun for 4 hours example, it is evaporating its fuel through its metal. so basically, you are left with less fuel then you parked with. If you parked with an electric car and with our solar roof and generator, you create energy, in some cases if you were at your house, you could return the energy and create a profit (this is mentioned in my previous topics)...There is one thing to note here: as our infrastructure energy becomes cleaner, so do our EV's, not our normal cars.

In addition, there are many ways to not think about: if we buy EV's, we all change the emissions to our grid...It is absolutely untrue ass many studies have shown. Please research in detail and reply to this topic.

Finally, yes the car is a 4 seater. It is an converted electric Yaris, without any change in interior space, except for performance. The performance increases as the car is lighter by approx 100kg and has a performance of about 4 seconds at a sprint...

There are many things I would like to discuss as why EV's are a revolutionary step to the automotive industry, as proven by many companies, especially Tesla, but I leave that for you to research.

    Please see the following:

There are so many more innovators out there, that it means it is the future. Please, PLEASE, research, understand, and realize the benefits before you go attacking EV's. Unless you just like the sounds of big engines and love the ... well...torque?....no, not torque EV's have that, power?....not power, Ev's have that too (way more) I guess it is just sounds of normal engines, those old, burning, broken sounds........

P.S: I cant post anymore links for some reason. But do not worry, the car will be available for anyone who is interested at my event. You will be let known soon....

  9. Yes its sounds interesting, but I think air-con is a no no due to big power consumption but what has OP Tony to say about that?

If no aircon, I think I can name it: "The Sadist EV1" wink.png

    Allright guys, questions answered:

aircon is designed electronically so it is a fine working print of an EV. Electronic HVAC has much higher efficiency of normal cars. Basically, it reduces the consumption from 40% to 10%.

Another issue is of course charging, but if you generalize, going to Huahin, you can make it on 1 trip. Going to Chiang Mai, you can make it in 2 trips. Example: go 350km, charge for about 2 hours, see some temples, eat at some restaurants with your wife and then go again....open your eyes and your mind, think logically and you will achieve what should be accomplished. Ask any Prius or Camry Hybrid driver in Thailand....

  10. Hi everyone,

I just thought it is time for our hard work to take some notice.

I have started an electric car company here in Thailand. In order to feel "safe" for now, I will not disclose much information.

The batteries just arrived today, so we are in the final stages of finishing off the prototype before presenting at an event. This technology is at its top of the automotive chain and will be for sale all over Thailand soon. Here are a few vehicle specifications:

    no transmission

    fully electric

    no gears

    no oil or gasoline

    range of 300-400km (estimate)

Variable design according to customer requirements (eco, standard, sports, racing)

1,000,000 baht price tag for the current prototype that will be unveiled soon.

Now, as we are preparing and finalizing the design, we are considering a free-energy generator on board the car. This generator is extremely efficient and could potentially make our concept to run forever without plugging in the vehicle. I will release details on it soon.

Please understand there are real dangers to unveiling more information, so until we do, we are giving this sweet taste first.

Thanks for all that read this, but I am just really excited to give birth to Thailand's first car company...soon...

    Tony

  11. "...following business costs of employers..."

how about the people man? this poor excuse of a new wage means very little costs for these companies. how about their employees that lost everything: no 2-4 month salary, no home, no belongings, some no more families.

this makes me sick how money corrupts the world!

    occupy bangkok, anyone?

You go first, let me know how you get on.

i wish, unfortunatly trying to get farang to come with me would be hard as they are here mostly to avert money issues and have a nice holiday or retirement. trying to get thais to come would be harder as they wouldnt understand what the occupy movement is about; no longterm visions.

im not trying to follow reds, yellows or whatever colors that want taksin here or not, the world needs to wake up from this monetary economic system. there is a better system: the resource economy...

  13. In another point, the automotive industry hasnt given the electric car any chance yet. its still in its infancy. why dont we wait like to combustion engine and see what technology pops up in a 100 years.

This is absolutely wrong. The first car ever to exceed 60 MPH was an electric car.

    In 1899!!

    First car to exceed 100kph

So it has already been over 100 years, my friend. Electric vehicle technology is hardly in it's infancy!!

That is right, Porsche was the first to introduce electric cars. The first race was electric, etc. etc. But soon oil came and removed free energy by buying the patents for battery technology and increasing the price so much that it seemed unfeasible to produce an electric car. Even now most battery technology is owned by chevron, who bought a battery company in 1998 and removed it from the radar.

So basically, electric cars have not been given the chance to enter the market through mass manufacturers, thus no R&D has been put on them. Even most motors used are not specifically designed for electric cars. This is what I mean by in its infancy...

  14. With that sort of money you could just import it yourself, after all 25 million baht for just cars is a lot of money ;)

A Tesla Roadster would dispose of 30% of it, blisteringly quick and makes a cool whine :P Ah, and no issues with fuel prices, just plug it in.

Finally someone in Thailand noticed the Tesla. For me?

    Daily car: Tesla model s

4x4: range rover liberty ev (better than the original in 4x4)

supercar: rimac supercar or Tesla roadster 3.0!!!

But Crossy is an electrician as well (i think)

Doesn't matter if he is an electrician, geek, scientist, politician, teacher, sewer cleaner....if he knows what car performance should be and he mentioned the Tesla, then he know what cars should be...

  16. maybe best to wait for the new electric Volvo C30 and S60, Is on test now, range 750 - 1,000km with on-board generator

Do you know how much they are leasing them now in the USA? 2000 USD per moth. That is 60,000 baht per month. Volvo is horrible. for that money you will buy this car and pay it for the next 6 years.

Nevertheless, Volvo is currently developing a new type of battery that will become the body panels of the car. In addition to combining them with solar cells, you could essentially make a never ending battery for an electric car.

  17. Any Idea how much the Aircon Uses, when its110 and your stuck in a Gridlock.?.:whistling:

Well as you can see from my review I kind of spread that info out. At first the computer told me 130km. After 80% blast of A/C and hardcore pushing of the car as well as regen, came back after 1 hour and it still said 130km...traffic is where an electric car beats any other car. what happens if you forgot to refuel your current car and went out to drive all the way to the shopping mall where you get stuck for 2 hours, like those cops do with the red light? no more fuel, what u gonna do?

Also I am not sure about imported tarrifs. Thailand doesn't clearly state them. However, another person stated in my other topic that it is about 80% import duty, 10% excise tax and a little more percentages here and there. 18. Tiger... Build and exports that vehicle. But the main expertise has come from the company in the US that has the rights for it. I do believe that they are available here for special order. As you are probably aware registering any vehicle here is not so easy and the Thai government do not offer much in the way of electric vehicle incentives.

well, thanks for clearing that, cuz the lady on the phone........arggh.

so basically they build, export it and if you want to buy it, you import it back in. the same thing what happens with the rice in hotels right? thailands exports its rice and imports it back at a premium into the hotels and calls it "5 star dining"

anyway, i have a much more superior design from Malaysia coming in 4 months. I will make a review on it too. Here is a picture of it. time to electrify the city :)

  19. i'm sorry but you can not call a car super fast when it takes you 5 times as long to go 800km's :D:whistling:

okok, super acceleration. but a full charge of 350km costs 60 baht. how far could you go in a ferrari for that money? exactly 2 km.......

well. if its a 54kw/h battery and we presume that it has to charge 50 kw of that then that would be 160b at 3.6b per unit.

So the Ferrari could go ummm 5 km, then refuel again in 60 seconds etc, etc

Ps. technically it's an astounding car.. but here in Thailand...nah

obviously depends on the area in bangkok due to different tarrifs. eton told me about 60 something baht for a full charge. obviously its not a full charge as you will never empty the battery up to 0% usually its 10-20% and then you charge. so remove that amount from the kilowatts, times it to different tarriffs...

The tiger IMPORTS that motorcycle. so the price for it is ....uuuhhhh.....NOT MENTIONED. I called them many times before, they didnt clearly state anything about how to register, warranty, maintenance, price. completely useless service. then i found out someone that was driving it in rama 2 in a forum. but no name or contact details so another useless information.

However, he did state that for 1300 kilometers of electric motorcycle driving, it cost him 76 baht!!!!!!!
