Meaning pay your taxes for social security in or for your country being abroad, or save like the dickens and get the useless Thai insurance young while you can. You will not get Thai SS.
Get Thai insurance early?
You must be joking?
You will suggest to pay 40-50k baht each year for 10-15 years for a maximum of 400k cover?
( most probably ill never claim)
And after paying already 500k im then old, the premium doubles or they wont even insure. great.
What sort of income stream does a people have that can pay this money for nothing over many years please tell!

Breaking news. If you have an OA retirement Visa from outside Thailand and want to renew in Thailand you WILL REQUIRE MEDICAL INSURANCE.
This is currently for the OA visa only and will not effect Non O retirement visas! For more information contact [email protected].I have not been able to confirm this from another source.
nice troll.
it wouldnt suprise if Thailand visa agents have a side-business as clickbait genetators for Social Media sites though.

3 pages and not one answered my question. Do I have to ask it again? When they claim they suspect you of working, what type of work would that be?
Taxi Driver?
Whore?
Professional Agitator?
Goldsmith?
they dont have to accuse you of any occupation.
If well under 40y.o, and live Thailand many years of course they think:
"how is this guy support himself that long time, with no work?"
so they check visa history, look you up and down if they think you are the rich guy who can afford this life
otherwise right or wrong they assume you working illegal or have dodgy ways to make money.
You cant really blame them.
If guys dressed in rags, smell of beer and cigs, heap of tattoos..and lugging a dirty 10 years old backpack..
Thats hardly a profile of guy on a monthly allowance from rich family, or Wall st genius, or international playboy.
Maybe borrow a friends Rolex and they let you in without question?
I always did hand the passport in with left hand and wearing my nice Submariner
and over 10 years of no worry visa
so there might be something to it!

I have experience with them, good and bad. I can also speak Thai so it helps. Anyway, I got my iMac, the b*tch sold my camera though, and also some money I had stashed away 'is gone' - funny you meet a girl who works at a bank, seems ok, live with her for 4 years and then when you want to break up, all hell breaks loose. Lesson learned. Also the police didn't require any money
Good news.
Seems it worked out better than you and a lot of posters expected.
Yes, on the breaking up thing..
as one poster say, always do by SMS when you and valuables are far away!
Personally, if i must do again is while im on holiday far away
even better SMS from my own country, but not say break-up,
just invent some BS about why you cant come back to Thailand.
just not worth the grief really!

Also had good experiences with the cops most of these tough guys here just repeat what they read.
Personally I just sort it out with the cops. I wonder what made the GF turn crazy. Some are crazy to begin with others just used by guys and get angry.
I prefer being a pussy and within the law then open myself up for all kinds of nasty stuff.
Thats some smart advice to go by.
my bad gf experiences usually me or her is a little drunk and neither are not handling the scene very smartly..
sometimes me used to be stirring the pot and giving her some of her medicine but you cannot do that with Thai like you did with western women..no way!
With Thai lady, even she locked you out of your house several times before, and you do it one time to get back at her she will go absolutely nuts!
they are the lessons you learn.
you cannot being hung up on being "right" with them because Thais are always right and never can admit to no wrong
no matter if its black and white you tell them they are wrong and they very well know they are wrong, yet they only just get into an angrier rage!
Anyway i think if this guys GF turned crazy, it must be a reaction from something he did
cause they dont just suddenly turn crazy for no reason.
Whatever minor thing or decision he did make probably could be accept by a western woman with a little sulk or a few hours of a "silent treatment"
but of course most times the Thai gf reaction to anything minor is WAY over the top of what should be normal!

I wonder how many of the people here who "know" the police won't help have any personal experience with the Thai police.
I know they have the reputation to be corrupt and some prominent cases in the press leave little doubt about that.
But somehow I find it hard to believe the police is always bad news for foreigners.
How many people here have personal experience with the police? And how much of that information if from some guy somewhere in a bar or online?
I must agree. I think a lot of it is people reading BS and repeating the BS to make them look smart.
In my case, many years ago, did a stupid thing while drunk.
The Thai Cops asked me what happened.
There is no witness, so I could have easily BS'd, lied, blamed someone else, but i did tell them the truth anyway.
The result, could have got charged for a few things, but cops say just pay 5k to the person for damages i caused and go home and dont do it again.
It was probably more like 2k damages but i was very happy with that.
GF at the time later tell me, the cop say if i had lied they would have thrown the book at me for drink riding and more but because i told that truth and was sorry they let me off a bit easy.
so my experience of them was pretty fair to be honest but its a long time ago, in a quite area of Prachuap K.K.
pretty sure not get away with it today!

Sorry but I think you first mistake is going to police.
This only get her more pumped up if she find out about that and probably destroy the stuff in anger.
Because my little experience in stuff like this is first thing Thai police to ask you is
"what did you do to her?"
they not believe you and mostly side with the Thai anyway because for them thinking its always the farangs out doing stupid drunken stuff.
So knowing what actually lead up to all this might change peoples advices.
I would say just let her simmer down, soften her up with some few thousand baht worth of gift, then as the many poster said,
Do a BS make-up..get the stuff back and then do some Forrest Gump running.
But Of course if the big stuff went down before and if you did some questionable stuff then maybe none of any advices will work and just accept your stuff is toast!

Is this a joke? Who would lend a Thai gf that amount?
of course, only an idiot is the answer.
This is the way of the classic con. You pay some good dividend early on, to establish trust.
then thinking all is ok, the mark will then give more.
To fall for a Thai doing this is a different kind of stupid though.
The friend was probably in on it too.
Knowing its a farang it was always an easy con as they know the system isnt farang freindly.
they effectively have laundered his money and have probably 2 houses now and he cant touch.
no chance to get back blood out of a stone.
its gone!

He says he a chef and buying mcDonalds and 800 baht of kfc?
lol i know many chefs and none would go near any of that.
And this way he "tells" people and demands stuff all the time, they must jump for joy when see him coming.
hate to think how many strange liquids and other weird stuff they have added to his food!

Maybe he started his own company where he had to pay a few million to the government plus employ 4 thai....in that case 3000 baht an hour isn't too much me thinks.
I've also seen ad's from other farang who give lessons on classical instruments..they asked like 2000 an hour for a violin lesson.
But i also see westerners handing out perfumed samples in Thai (and other asian) malls...it seems those guys can also get a workpermit for that.
Id be very suprised if can get a workpermit for that.
Do as they will anyway, not my business
just gets boring to see posts on here asking if someone got work permit for what they doing.
same as farangs talking about "grassing up" people.
must be lots of bitter loosers around.
no wonder many people dont want to even look in the direction of a foriegner when pass in the street.
shameful!

no doubt he will show them a hiding!!
that is, until the other 8 whimpy Asians come out of nowhere and get him on the ground and kick his noggin in.
lol
no wonder these guys get in trouble in Asian countries.
sound like another typical G.I Joe

OP, you can try the Bangkok FB sites.

3,000baht per hour.
his add wasnt up for long.
maybe someone grassed him for being a fxxkwit

They would be greasing the wheels of bureaucracy but they have been doing the exact opposite. So it is painfully obvious to the most casual observer, farangs are being discouraged about retiring in the land of smiles.
OR it could be their simple explanation is the truest..
they just checking people have 800k in the bank instead of lieing about it through a BS embassy letter or agent.
I dont know of many countries that let you in if your flat broke unless you are refugee and come in a leaky boat of course.
and really 800k baht is not a lot.
its a decent hospital bill, 3 month living expense, and ticket home if you should have some bad run of luck and need to get out.
Many posters say they wouldnt dare to live here without at least
1-2million in backup, and i tend to agree with them

Why would they get deported?
Your not believeing in popular Thaivisa theory??...that all this been set up by immigration specially so it will actually push people into taking agents so the officers can collect the comissions in brown paper bags.

How does a landlord know iif you will come and go and at what dates?
You must to contact them each time?
If it like that it will not be long before they get sick of it, they are quite well known to have a very short fuses.
Just maybe better to pay 800 fine once and wouldnt be rocking the boat on it to much.. .
Its could be a big worry for all of us in the future for many reasons,
but worst:
1. They decide they can easily rent to Thais because foriegners are to much trouble.
2. They start jacking up the rent because foriegner comes with all the extra hassles.

Survanak , was always known as an easy option , for expats requiring visas.
Now it is too well known. Thx social media..
Thats why im always against people saying "to much" on social media.
Of course its all just EGO and guys wanna proove they are the seasoned traveller and they know it all..
Mix that with the local greed and willingness to destroy their surroundings for the tourist $..
Its why many of these places have been ruined by mass exposure and "lonely planet" rubbish

Funny subject.
I know a few both older Thai and farang guys.
my Aussie friend say 10k per month is the going rate if live with her.
My Brit friend agree, but the 10k, it is the allowance to buy food and keep house for both.
My Thai buddy says he pay his mia noi (20 years younger) 10,000 baht a month and he see her maybe 3 or 4 times a month.

You stayed in the van after you saw him drinking. If you don’t care about your life, no one else is going to care about it or the service you received.
But did he really see him drinking?
He doesnt mention he saw the guy skulling cans of beer or whisky or whatever.
If he is that clueless about having to get an exit stamp then im not suprised if he assumed an EM-Roy bottle is Lao-khao

Fair to say, some newcomer would be lost with these service if you expecting someone to lead you around holding your hand.
Often there is nobody at all to help, only the driver and the guys at the border collecting the passports and taking the money.
In this regard it is a bit false to advertise "we take care of everything"
But I am a bit annoyed by people like this actually.
Especially Americans, starting the trip ranting and raving how they are the seasoned traveller and know it all about Thailand.. then at the border they get out of the van and its..
"<deleted>, where is the helper, what to do next?"
then it is on the other customers to help them all the way and NEVER any thanks!
Okay we get it is your first time, but WHO goes into these things doing ZERO research on what you must do?
Sounds to me like a pissed up Aussie who used to being spoonfed sorry to say

So, chop chop lads, we have 2 months to train thousands of IMM officers to read all languages of the world and understand all worlds of insurance policies.

I was told by a financially successful married Thai friend that the 50,000 is indeed a general benchmark of expectation. It's what he gives his wife and more but when he directed me to do the same in order to insure love and loyalty
I had to point out the major flaw that many guys who go to Thailand or live there seem to ignore or overlook.
Women outnumber men in Thailand . I posted this in another thread but it is also relevant here. Scarcity creates value , excess creates devaluation. Also, the older they get the closer they are to expiration in their culture in addition to the baggage of kids from a previous relationship with a Thai guy before heading out to strike up a lucrative deal with a so called rich foreigner. Trust me this is not the Kansas city strip club where 10 guys sit around a fat mother of 5 pole dancer and throw tips hoping she will let them put a dollar in her bra. The girls working in Thai bars are only a drop in the bucket compared to the ones who are available. Widen your scope and you won't need a telescope to find them for a lot less than 50000bht a month.................
Is your friend one of those dirty old buggers who is 70y.o and want a 20y.o wife ??
if so then 50k seems a good deal to me..
10k baht for every 10years of age difference.
this is why its a good idea to go for lady who is only 10 years younger.
