Would you support this in your country. Yes actually it has happened only thing is that parties will disolve.

Then again I have a question for you.

Would you support having and escaped felon that robbed and defrauded the country for his own personal gain running your country and trying to come back to make it worse?

The arguments are not against a political party as much as they are against a family that is perceived to wants to run Thailand as their own entity.

These protests are a good thing for this country. Suthep has done something that needed to be done. He has woken up the young people and they are ow getting involved in the country instead of their smartphones.

This coutnry was about to waste billions of baht and if left alone ws going to absolve Thaksin and all his cronies on both sides of any legal responsibilities for life. that can not happen.

Courts have to be respected. Thaksin feels that he is above the law. No one is above it.

Missing the point. Completely. The point about this all is, is not whether Thaksin is good or bad. It is about whether he (or his sister) was democratically elected by the majority of Thai people.

To make it clear, there is only one person who should lead this country: it is the person/party that is elected by the majority of Thais - good or bad.

    Understand yet?

Nonsense. A government that is elected by a majority, or in this case a large minority, still has to govern in accordance with the law and constitution of the country.

This government has tried to act above the law and change laws for its own benefit. It has been caught lying, which it admits, acting illegally, which it refuses to comment on, and cheating by ignoring correct parliamentary procedure. Not one single apology - simply: we're the government and we can do what we want. Well, no actually they can't as they are now finding out.

Democracies must have the power to remove corrupt regimes that are acting illegally and/or purely for self-benefit. In mature democracies, a government that has been caught out so many times as this lot would have been forced to resign.

    More drivel & rubbish.

  2. No more Shinawatras. That's what this is about, not dissolution.

Can I help you pack that bag, ma'am?

Ah, so the electorate doesn't count. No more Shinawatras is for the electorate to decide, nothing more and nothing less.

The electorate doesn't get to decide anything when it comes to party list candidates, they are appointed. In this case, by her criminal fugitive brother. Very democratic, eh?

    Prove it!

  3. About 300.000 people was on the road today. Employees, Students, old People, normal People (it would be interessting how much of them are middle and upper class laugh.png ). People coming and going, no free food or drink, make it difficult for the older. People from all over Thailand, working here and some thousend coming from outside. More would coming if they not must take care for the family, and can not leave work.

People boring about corrupt politicans what color they ever have, and 2 law for rich and poor. What me make really moody is that the reds now use my prefered colors, black, white and grey. Some red mob on the roads, 2-3 together dont smile, dont look in your eye. They love to abuse lonely woman. Im sure, if normal Isaan People see the behaviour of their red mob, they will change their mind. wai.gif

More rubbish! " They love to abuse lonely woman. Im sure, if normal Isaan People see the behaviour of their red mob, they will change their mind. wai.gif"

    Another load of yellow bullocks!

  4. 20.000 people...this is "the majority" ?

Yes, 20,000 telling 50,000,000 what to do.

Bangkokians think the country ends at the city limits and they don't give a shit what the rest of the country wants.

Today there were well over 100,000 Thais on the streets, telling Yingluck to resign.

It's all very well her saying her party scored 15 million votes compared to the Democrats' 11 million votes, but when she knows almost the entire middle class are against her and her family, it's time to go.

Rubbish. The upper middle class maybe in opposition, but the regular Joe Thai is quite satisified, but very displeased with the Democrat obstructionist. If it comes to an actual civil war (I wish not to see) Then so be it and take every yellow sympathizer expat down with them.

  5. The PTP and Red Shirts have already abandoned democracy for a Thaksin dictatorship.

"The protest leaders have said that they would not be satisfied with new elections, leaving the two sides locked in a stalemate that risks scaring off foreign investors and tourists."

The protest leaders want the country to be governed by appointed, not elected, councils because they keep losing elections. If they succeed it will tear this country apart, the Thai's will not abandon democracy without a fight.

    Rubbish.

  6. My wife's cousin returned home from the protest a couple of days ago, he said things are much worse than what is shown in the media, he gave one example, some people involved with the protest have been cooking food for distribution among the poor, they cooked the food, packaged it and bagged it ready to be sent out, then the police turned up and took all the food leaving none for the poor, how is that for an example of serve and protect?

Rubbish! People involved with the protest wouldn't do anything for the poor.

To say the Police stole the food is just a blatant lie. (Bullocks).

  7. Political Violence Resumes Minutes After HM's Birthday

Mr. Banchong Pengsakul moments after he was shot by unidentified individual at Ministry of Finance

BANGKOK: -- The brief lull in the political confrontation in Bangkok came to an end minutes after His Majesty the King′s Birthday when an anti-government protester was shot by unknown individuals at Ministry of Finance.

According to witnesses, Mr. Banchong Pengsakul, a 46 year old resident of Surat Thani province, was serving as a volunteer security guard for the protesters and patrolling the Ministry, where the anti-government protesters have been occupying for a week, when two individuals on motorcycle approached him and shot at Mr. Banchong.

The assailants quickly fled the scene, and the protesters who witnessed the scene could not identify the type of the motorcycle used by the attackers. Mr. Banchong was later sent to Rajthewee Hospital; his condition is described as stable.

The attack was said to occur at 00.05 - several minutes after the symbolic date of 5 December, when anti-government protesters led by former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban agreed to suspend their political campaign for a day to observe the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King′s Birthday.

The truce came after the protests in Bangkok turned violent over the weekend of 30 November and 1 December, when anti-government protesters clashed with pro-government Redshirts in eastern Bangkok, leaving at least four people dead, and anti-government protesters engaging in fierce street battle with the police around Government House.

However, many Thais did not expect the truce to last following HM′s Birthday, and Mr. Suthep has previously vowed he would resume his campaign to oust PM Yingluck Shinawatra once the celebration is over.

Mr. Thavorn Senniam, former Democrat MP who is now one of the protest leaders, said two hours prior to Mr. Banchong′s shooting an unknown assailant also lopped small explosive device toward the protesters at the Ministry of Finance, but no injury was reported.

The former Democrat MP also criticised the police′s handling of the incidents, claiming that officers took more than an hour before arriving at the scene.

Mr. Thavorn added that he had instructed the guards to patrol the protest site more frequently, and he had requested his fellow protesters to park their cars along the compound′s fences to serve as a barrier from potential attacks.

Naewna newspaper and anti-government social network sites have identified the assailants who shot Mr. Banchong as "Redshirts agents", but the claim cannot be independently verified.

In an separate incident, anti-government protesters at Ratchadamnoen Avenue also came under attacks from a large group of teenage motorcycle gang who reportedly attempted to drive their vehicles into the protest site.

Mr. Pongthep Klangcharoen, 34, who serves as a volunteer guard for the protesters, said he was manning his checkpoint near Kok Wua Intersection around 04.00 today when over 100 Dek Vans approached the protest camp and tried to drive past the checkpoint.

When the guards refused to let them through, Mr. Pongthep said, the Dek Vans were visibly agitated, and they responded by throwing three small explosive devices at the protest guards. The motorcycle gang reportedly left the scene after the attack, but they later came back and threw more explosives at the protesters.

One protest guard and one Dek Vans were injured by the incidents, police officers said. Th

The correct term is Criminal Trespassers and Vandals, not protesters.

  8. BANGKOK IN CHAOS

Think twice before arresting Suthep : police warned

    The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police will tactically allow protesters to lay siege Metropolitan Police Bureau before raiding and arrest rally chief Suthep Thaugsuban at the Government Complex.

A rally leader Sathit Wongnongtoey warned on Rajdamnoen rally site Tuesday that police should not do that because the bureau is very near the Government House.

"Listen carefully, if Khun Suthep is arrested, don’t underestimate the protesters. The bureau is near the Government House. Think twice before doing anything," Sathit said. He seemed to imply that the protesters could force their way into the Government House.

Suthep was charged of being treason on Monday. A chopper flew over Rajdamnoen rally site and distributed copies of Suthep’s warrants.

I don't think the Thai Police are the least bit intimidated . Any fool who tries to storm a Police HQ of any kind and gets shot deserves what they get.

  9.

The North only really gets tourism dollars from Chiang Mai, while probably about 80% of the revenue goes to Phuket, Bangkok, Pattaya, Samui etc. Most Northeastern and Northern families rely on income from family members working in Bkk or the central region who could be replaced by cheaper foreign labour in the event of partition. Even their farming income is supplemented by tax levied largely from Bkk. In fact the rural areas which in the poast generated tax have since the 60s been net recipients of tax. The reality is that Bkk and the South could import rice for much less than it is paying for Thai rice but the North and the Northeast would be crippled economically if they had to pay for public services and infrastructure from the pitiful amount of tax raised there. They would have to whack up VAT to about 30%. Without the drain on public finances caused by the North and Northeast a Bkk government would have a lot of cash to spend on subsidising rubber farmers in the South and could develop the region, so as to narrow the gap with Malaysia which seems to do OK without a massive hinterland.

You are suggesting what ? that the north is not pulling its weight or costs more than it brings in ? The army that patrols the south and helps keep drugs and terrorists out isnt made up mostly of northerners ? as are the majority of most other labour forces in bangkok and around the country in all factories and industry including the tourist trade not to mention the bars etc ?

Im sure costs could be cut by using masses of say bangladeshi workers and make the rubber plantations workers obsolete too and while at is just strip the enire south and grow sugarcane and rubber that'll look just lovely... seriously need to get your head out of your butt and stop thinking one particular area is better than another.

the north is the rice bowel of Thailand and its exports are not a small part of its revenue.

    Thailand_1.jpg

In short the north is the backbone of the country and where the numbers hail from It may be inconvenient but its also the truth, I thought even a tourist after a few weeks would be aware of that.

"You are suggesting what ? that the north is not pulling its weight or costs more than it brings in?"

Exactly that. Just think about where the tax revenue comes from. The rural areas generate net negative tax revenue and the North has only one large city. In the unlikely event that separation were to occur, Bangkok and the South could still import food from the N and the NE but would not have to subsidise it. It could also hire labour, including soldiers from there, but without the obligation to. Basically, if you don't have Bangkok and Phuket, you are in serious trouble economically.

Oh how wonderful it would be to see it. (Hypothetically)

OMG! Work? Cook my own food? Wash my own clothes? No one to exploit? No poor people to cheat?

What is the world coming to.

  10. If you ask me, I have never seen police as passive as the ones I have seen in the past couple days. Lets step it up a notch!

Where were you in 2010? These guys are hyperactive comparing with their actions in 2010. They literally did not lift a finger back then. Let's not forget that Thaksin was one of them. Old habits die hard. Once police officer, always police officer.

I agree, " Once police officer, always police officer" How long have you lived in Thailand? Do you live in Thailand?

Where do you think we would be without a police force? I agree with you the Police have always seemed to use restraint. Much more so than I have seen in other countries.

  11. IMHO Time for Thailand to clean it up!! Thailand's level of prosperity is a lot higher than during the Vietnam era, there are opportunities for young women outside the sex industry...it's all about greed, corruption, and laziness nowadays.

Clean it up if they don't want other countries to look down on them as they do now! The problem, again IMO, is that (generalizing) Thai people will do anything for money, no matter how shady or dishonest, it is deeply embedded in their national psyche, much more so than in other developing countries. That's why Thailand is the brothel of the world, no other reason.

    RUBBISH!

  12. I came the first time to Thailand in 1975

Mostly dirt and gravel roads. No 2 wheel tractors, almost all fields

were worked with water buffalo, people would wai the old black Mercedes I drove.

Then came regularly in 2005 1 month Thailand 3 months at home.

Moved to Thailand full time in 2010, Starting this year I will only come for 7 months

    out of the year.

Out of all of this I have never been to Phuket.

I do not feel I have missed anything,

The warnings I read, I heed.

I have had plenty of excitement in my life.

Worked in prisons, intelligence and law-enforcement.

Now that I am retired a good looking Thai lady

in the house is enough excitement for me.

  13. Let me tell you about insecurity and world domination Mr wealth.

When I lived and worked in Beijing I lived in constant fear of being visited by the Chinese Communist Party.

I have no fear in Thailand or the good old United Kingdom or the US of A.

are you aware that Mao was installed by the elite? David Rockefeller called it a huge success after 70 million people were starved to death or killed by other means?

Ask yourself, on what is the feeling of your "security" based on?

    Rubbish.
