  1. Was having a drink with a west Indian from london a few months ago in Bangkok,

He stated that he had been in Thailand for 7 months and was about to leave due to the fact he was unable to secure a permanent teaching contract which he put down to the colour of his skin,

He was indeed a primary school teacher in the UK and held a TEFL certifacate,

Shame realy as he was a nice chap and had far more than any backpacker could contribute to the teachings in schools here.

  3. ponder...... wonder ....... ponder again........ so what is it?

    Explorer :D

Ok will put you out of your misery :o

Not sure if all no hands restaurants are all the same but in my belief you are spoon fed by attentive hostesses whilst sitting at a dining table,

The dining table being draped with a tablecloth that reaches to the floor,

I will leave to your immagination the purpose of the tablecloth :D

(my freind told me this honestly :D:D )

  4. For the second time my posting permissions have been removed without any clarification as to why. The first time pat pong did it, a moderator from Chiang Mai (Chanchao?) apoligized and explained that moderators are normally required to provide an explanation when they do this.

Now it happened again, I guess it's again pat pong as he started writing negative nationalistic stuff again (he's dutch) of which I don't even bother complaining as there's no one who can lower pat pong better them himself. George had to close a thread yesterday of which the last posting pat pong's postings were, a clear sign of his moderating talent. I hope someone will tell me why they removed my posting permissions and why pat pong did it. (wild guess from me! :D

    Cheers,

    Dutchy

You just gotta laugh :o How can you have had 2 postings when it clearly says you have had only 1 ? :D

I think many here go under 2 nicks or maybe more perhaps ? :D

  5. Incredible there found him in a Bangkok hospital,

Considering all the media attention and the length of time it has took to find him you would of thought that avenue was the first line of enquirey if someone is missing,

Never mind wish him best of luck and a speedy recovery.

  6. I got the multiple entry visa for the "just in case" situation.

I don't need to leave as I'm not a traveling businessman.

So, my 90 day period is here and I'm looking for what the truth is.

Do I need to leave the country, or do I just need to register with immigration?

    Thanks. -Homie

    Hi Homie,

You will need to be more specific.

Many members here can help you but you need to outline all your details.

  7. Your correct saying that there come from Chang Mai,i bought some yesterday from Buriram market and there were are delicious,I asked the market trader about consistency and she said that Chang Mai has some form of monolopy on Farang potatoe, ? could not get my head around realy what she was trying to explain to me :o Anyway best tattys so far in the last 3 months but exspensive. :D

  8. This has probably been answered already, however just want to make sure i'm correct on what i'm thinking.I have a non-immigrant visa.I am a little confused as to when it runs to.On the righthand side of passport is the visa stamp from The Thai Embassey in Ireland which says the date i applied for visa April 23 and then another date July 23.On the lefthand side is the stamp i got from immigration when i came in which says admitted until August 9.Now i am probably answering my own question but i just want to make sure so as i don't overstay my visa, but intially i thought my visa was only until 23 July and then i would have to do a visa run, but am i to understand it just means visa has to be used by 23 july for it to remain valid and the visa runs until August 9th?

Secondly i am getting a tourist 30 day thing now as i'm going travelling for a month then going home. There is no problem having had a non.tourist visa then gettting a tourist visa?Lastly i'm located in Surratthani, i'm getting conflicting advice as to whether i should go to Burma or Malaysia to do the border bounce. Also if i'm in Kho Phangan on the 8th or whatever can i orgnaise to do the visa run trip from there?Sorry i realise this has probably be answered before, but it's the 23rd on friday and so i just want to make absolutely sure as i got conflicting advice when i asked people.Cheers

If indeed you have a Non O then this gives you 90 days not 30 :o

  9. We have a house in Ban kok Yai ( Sorry about spelling ). At the moment the shower leaves the bathroom awash with water. We need either a bath and shower curtain set up or a shower cubicle to contain the water.

But where around here can we get one. Please post if you can give any info, if not cheers anyway.

    Thank you in advance

I know there is a shop in Satuk (not too far from Buriam and do deliverys anyway)

that sell both cubicle showers and baths, sorry i cant remember the name of the shop but its on the high street anyway, hope this helps.

  10. I'm planning to be in Thailand next year, round about February and I've already been to get my injections for my upcoming trip. These vaccines are comprised of multiple injections spread over a period of time. So I'll have to get another dose in a month or so and another after that.

Now, my problem is not to do with getting the injections done in time (quite fortunate to be honest), but that I won't be able to get the blood test done at the end of it all to check whether or not I have indeed built up an immunity to the viruses.

    I have two options:

    1) Put my trip back about a month, meaning I won't get to Thailand until about mid-March, so I can also get the results back. If I'm not immune, I'm gonna have to schedule a further and final injection :/.

    2) Get my blood test done in Thailand, and if I'm not immune, hopefully get my needed booster injection there if possible.

Now, I'm looking to option 2 as the topic indicates, so tell me where/who do I see to get my blood test done? And hopefully, it'll be these same people who'll be able to give me my booster injection, should it be needed, right? Oh and the area/s we're looking at is Ayuttaya/Lopburi/Bangkok.

    :D:D:o:D

  11. It has never bothered me either way, dark or light each one has their own kind of beauty. What I do find disturbing, is that when one turns on Thai TV, there are hardly any dark skinned girls to be seen. Excpet as maids.

    This was my point also,

Brainwashed by media and commercial advertisments from an early age,

    Such a shame realy :o

  12. You seem to be implying that regardless of the wording, the question of how easy it is to get laid by Thai girls is a question that should not be asked.

Not at all ... but there's a world of difference between "How easy is it to get a <deleted> in Thailand ?" and "Do Thai girls <deleted> more often on the first date than farang girls ?"

And what world of difference is that?

Difference or not, what is offensive about comparing sexual mores among cultures? The original poster clarified his reasons for posting, and his motives sounded sincere to me.

Dont you think that this thread is realy scraping the bottom of the barrell now and to sleazy ? :o

  13. You did not mention your age but if under 50 years old you must be employed or have a reasonable chance of employment here (BA degree or higher or special qualifications) to obtain any extension of stay for support of your wife. Other methods to stay in Thailand would include 3 million baht investment or setting up your own business.

Am not trying to sound alarms here but you really don't seem to understand what you are getting into. This is not like a move from one EU state to another. And marriage gives you no right to abode here.

Sorry Lopburi but i beg to differ here,

He has the right to remain in Thailand on a Non O visa (after marraige) and that he can show funds of 400k TB on a yearly basis as he is supporting his wife no ?

  14. Thanks for the reply. I see I will have to get the non-immigrant O Visa and then apply for a work permit when I get to Bangkok.

It is my understanding that it is the prospective employer that initially applys for your work permit ? ( I dont work here but am sure other members or Mods can fill you in)

However with the Non O in place you will be able to do when have gained an offer of employment.

    Hope my reply is correct,

Am sure somebody will clarify the situation though.

  15. Let me introduce myself. I am a Dutch guy currently still working in Amsterdam, Holland.

I am going to get married to my Thai girlfriend in Bangkok in october this year. A while after the marriage we wan to go and live in Bangkok. She has work there and I will look for it too.

As I understand I will be able to obtain a non immigrant Visa after all the marriage paper work... :o

1.Is it true that I can better apply for the visa in Holland because it is easier?

2.I know I need money on a open Thai Bank account. How much(Euros or Baht)?

3.Can I work automatically with the "marriage" visa?

    4. Do I need to extend the visa every year?

    5. Is a non immigrant marriage visa the type "O" visa?

MANY THANX FOR HELPING THIS NEWBIE.

    Greetz :D ,

    Frumau, Amsterdam

In reply i will keep the answers short and simple,

    1) Only after marraige (but could go elsewhere outside of Los whilst here)

    2) 400.000 TB

    3) No

    4) Yes

    5) Yes

    Sorry short and sweet ,

Best of luck for the future and your marraige.

  16. Has anyone heard about getting a non-imm 'O' visa in Penang without showing 'money in the bank' but having a letter of guarantee from someone at home (i.e. UK) guaranteeing that should you require hospitalisation, medical bills or repatriation etc. the guarantor will pay all expenses. I've been assured that this is legit. Will post more when I have more details.

Sorry you have got no chance :o

  17. I was wondering if there's anyone into watersports here ? I would love to check out some places not too far from Bangkok. I am really into watersports. Any recommendations, anyone ?

    Amanda

    yes :o

  18. I am looking renting a reasonable standard apartment in BKK - 3 bedrooms in a nice block - and have checked out the sites thaiapartmentsonline and thaiproperty.com etc. There seem to be some good options around at the 50,000 to 60,000 baht per month range. Should I really be paying this sum though? I mentioned this to a thai friend a he just laughed.

Has anyone any advice on renting apartments or can anyone recommend a good realty agent?

I certainly would not pay that when you can have all the comforts of an international class hotel for 1k a night :o
