Thailand you reap what you sow! I think a few football casuals educating the local Tuktuk mafia here in Patong is just the ticket. I would also like to see the same thread replaced with Russian mafia, Aussie bikers, Scandanavian thugs...... All of which I know live & holiday here

More instant "taxi' huts going up everywhere, more shouts of "taxi, tuk tuk" wherever you go and seeing all these new "legit" taxis taking up all the parking in non designanted taxi zones as there are so many vehicles now they can't all fit in their self designated areas of parking that the public can't park in.
On a positive note, quite a bit of eye candy everywhere you look.
I saw that in a few areas, the yellow tuk tuk parking space lines have been appearing everywhere and Kata and Karon have a hut on about every corner.
I feel for those business owners who have them loitering out front or even in their businesses whilst aggressively spruiking customers with TUK TUK loudly.
Its like they are pre wired or automated to just say tuk tuk to anyone who isn't Thai.
I laugh when I'm walking in the opposite direction on a one way street and they still ask if I want a tuk tuk that would obviously take me in the wrong direction.
My wife saw the Tuk tuk scum actually painting their own lines outside of Banzan market

I will let this go on for a few more days before picking a date, as the muppet at work still cannot decide or are unwilling to decide, when & for what i must be in attendance.

Phuket is more expensive because everything a expat may want is available here
We have explored Thailand as far as Cha Am, no other town or province has the same goods and services available
It may be more expensive than other areas in Thailand but its much cheaper than so called western developed countries
IF people wish to complain about Phuket and Thailand its much cheaper to live in Laos or Cambodia and should suite them
Those same goods and services are available in Bangkok, Pataya and Chiang Mai and doubtless in other locations in Thailand also, their pricing in Phuket is unique to Phuket, let me assure you. A part of the reason for that is the shipping/transportation distance involved from Bangkok, the major reason though is beause it is believed that Phuket residents can stand it. That you have seen nothing similar between Phuket and Cha Am confirms nothing other than the fact that there is indeed very little of anything in that space.
I think some products must be transported from Bangkok to Phuket by tuk-tuk because they are more expensive than in western countries.
What products and what western country are those products less expensive than here in Phuket than there
Frys Turkish delight - about 40p in blighty THB75 here! Quality street chocolates, small jars in Tesco 3 quid - here THB 1200
Bloody socks from M&S 6 pairs THB1400 31 quid ish

The suspect was held without bail.
If he was rich, he'd be out on the streets already.

I was twelve years old living in a farming community in Western Kentucky. Back then the neighbors would gather at one house about once a month. The local musicians would be there and after the big supper everyone would sit around and enjoy the music. This was before anyone had electricity in the houses. Good clean fun with salt of the earth people. One night after the shindig we heard a neighbor ringing the big emergency bell out in their yard. Most houses had them. My father jumped up and went to their house. During the shindig when no one was home, a man had crawled under the bed of the fifteen year old daughter of the neighbor. To make a long story short, the neighbors sliced his tallywhaker off then put pine tar on the stub so he wouldn't bleed to death.A blunt knife would be appropriate.
If it were my daughter it would have already been used.
This is the justice that still needs to be around today in our PC world.
Not to often i am in TOTAL agreement with the Americans, but brother your neighbours deserve a medal & I would buy those gents a beer any day!

You have no idea the lengths Indians go to for their weddings, as for spending lavishly this may be true in the planning - getting them to actually pay the amount at the end is a very different story. Some hotels, will not accept this business as the return of investment is simply not worth the headaches involved!
