  1. Brahmin Cattle, 13,000 for a pair sound cheap, but it's a bit like the "how long is a piece of string" question. How old are they, it's it a male/female pair, what weight are they, is anything wrong with them. 13,000 does sound very cheap if they are fully grown.

You could try looking throught the Farming section, we have loads of threads on beef cattle ect

  2. Sounds good Tim, got any links. The problems I would see with it would involve things like where do you get your stock from and the ammount of time you need. It would probably suit someone with a large well established farm :o I'm not sure wether most samll holders would have the time and the contacts nessesery to make it work. Here's a pic so we all know what we are talking about

  3. These land questions are always difficult, I'd tend to agree with MF, that it seems on the high side at just over 40,000 bhat a rai. You can always go to the local land office and find out what the offical Gov rate for it is, this will be on the low side but will give you an idea and something to start bargining with

  4. random,

i am a '42 kg stick'.... ; i am the only woman i know on the kibbutz that is constantly trying to stay my weight or gain, i hate all the diet food that people are always preparing: low fat, no calorie whatever.... i like real food, carbohydrates, meat, rice, (hate bread actually).... i'm like a ferret, i have to eat all the time, am active but not a sports person, but would like to have some curves, as my daughter complains when she rests her head on my shoulder or lap, that its like sleeping on a skeleton smile.gif)

I'm much the same eating wise. I'm only about 60kg, but not really thin as I'm short :o. I have mates who come and visit who are twice the size of me and are gobsmacked at the ammount I eat
  5. In case of the applicant who is married to a Thai wife, one of them or both of them need to have the total annual income that is averaged out not less than 40,000 Baht per month except for the case that the said foreign national has entered Thailand before this Order is enforced and the foreign national has been permitted to stay in the Kingdom by the result of having married to a Thai wife, then if the applicant does not have the said income, then, the latest 3 months records of the account book of any Bank in Thailand with the account name of either or both parties need to have the amount of money not less than 400,000 Baht.
So is that actually saying that now a forigener can be supported by his Thai wife if she can show 40,000 bhat a month income. If so any idea if they would let you change over even if you qualified for the 400,000 in the bank bit previously
  6. In Thailand most rice milling is done at a co-operative level and amongst other reasons why it is centralised like that is the margins are quite small making it unviable for the average farmer to do himself.
I dont think it's mainly co-op's around here, I'll have to check though.

I did have a look a long time ago about the margins, but just what I could glean off the internet and just chatting to people and on the face of it the margins did'nt look that bad (for a bulk market), again I'd have to have a look again and see what I could dig up.....internet is a bit dodgy thought this time of the year....too much rain and cloud :o

  7. Yea I seem to remember reading something like that. Is it that possibly they calculate the average over the whole area cultivated ? I also seem to remember that most of the rice land in thailand is not irrigated, relying on seasonal rainfall

  8. Ok just for you

  10. Hi Ramdom,

im new in rice milling so i think 50 ton is ok for me.

Guess i need to take time and learn first.anyway guys im from singapore

Thank you for your guide.now at least i learn something from this forum.

I'm not actually sure how much the places around here do, but I live in Central Thailand, Nakhon Sawan is right on the Chao Praya river flood plane so the rice paddies then to be large and a lot of them. The economics in the philipines may be totaly different.

My brother-in-law deals with quite a few of them buying the husks which they use here a bit like sawdust, mainly in the chicken industry (cleaning out the sheds) and brick making (slow burning fuel)

Anyway nice to have you aboard, let us know how it goes

  11. 50 ton does'nt seem a lot, there's been a boom in rice mills around here with loads springing up in the last 2 years, superficialy at least they seem to be doing allright so you must be able to make money in it. Now if your talking 50 ton a day you might be in buisiness, thats only about 3-4 big lorry loads

  12. Thanks chris, excelent site. I think they use the FAO publications but it's easy to see them all set out and you can view them online without downloading if you want.

It's actualy got most things there from fish, dairy, animal rearing, crops to "3rd world" technology.

I'll stick that one in the links section when I get around to it

  13. Thers a few members around up there, but thay don't post that often, I'm in Nakhon Sawan.

Petchbun is definatly central, the forum titles don't list all the provinces at the title would just be too big :o

  14. You just need to look around localy, there's plenty of them about, made from all sorts of stuff. We used to have a bamboo one, I did'nt like it myself. I find the most comfertable are made from quite thin nylon string (I think) but a very close mesh, not itchy at all. The other way is to get one just made out of a single pice of material (no mesh)

You do get often "army" stalls at local markets not sure if it's real army stuff but the sell camo gear and the like, never seen a hammok there but never really looked that hard

  15. No I'm not about to give it a try, but thought as it is one of the major crops here in Thailand we could have a thread on it, so come on all you rice experts. How is it actually grown, whats the growing time, what sort of ammounts do you get per rai and some rough ideas on how profitable it actually is.
