COVID-19 infections rising, public advised to wear face masks
madmitch replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Back in the UK life is normal. Covid is still around and infections rise at this time of the year but it's not considered any worse than flu any more, certainly for those fully vaccinated. NB I have had bad flu in Thailand and was hospitalised so it isn't nice; a lot worse than a bad cold. Mask wearers are rare and with the covid enquiry currently ongoing, nobody would listen if the government advised mask wearing social distancing or any other measure. Thailand needs to learn to live with it. -

If this was MFP they'd be looking for a reason to disqualify someone and dissolve the party! -

5.1 billion baby spent to promote Thailand's soft power yet every time there's an incident like this it will have the opposite effect. Maybe that budget could be better allocated elsewhere. -
A 5.1 billion baht to increase the appeal of Thailand as a tourist destination by the use of soft power? In addition to the TAT budget, I assume. Let's hope they can come up with better ideas than the extension of Songkran, which is more likely to prevent tourists from , which will probably keep more tourists away than the number it will attract. And what will local businesses and individuals think about this? Oh, and they're expecting a shortage of water following El Nino next year!

Real news concerns shootings, car accidents, sinking boats etc. The fake news comes from the Government and police who every time promise to implement measures to prevent these incidents from occurring! -
Global diabetes cases surge with steady rise in Thailand
madmitch replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sugar in noodles, curries, many other foods, Coke at breakfast, lunch and dinner, three in one coffee, sweet Thai tea, Hales Blue Boy syrup etc etc. No surprise that diabetes cases are on the up in Thailand, and how many don't have a clue they have it? -

So many reaction icons now available to use on AseanNow but I'm still waiting for a "shaking head in disbelief" one. Could have been used multiple times today, not least for this story! -
Thai Airways reports profitable Q4, driven by Chinese visitor surge

Q4 hasn't finished yet! I think they must be confused with four consecutive profitable quarters. -

What about the MPs that change party during a Parliamentary term? -
For the purposes of this exercise, I'd say "rich" is the lowest figure the Government can get away with excluding from the 10,000 baht payout!

UK pensioners flock to luxury retirement resorts in Thailand

There may be pitfalls as mentioned above but that's not the picture the Daily Mail wants to paint. This newspaper loves nothing more than a dig at the NHS -
Thaksin Had Four Shoulder Incisions: Paetongtarn

Four incisions in the shoulder? So, two months in hospital in preparation, maybe two months recuperation before he's sent home for being a good boy! -
Leveraging postage stamps as a soft power to boost the economy
madmitch replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They've been doing this in the UK for years. Most of the "special packs" are worth less than the face value of the stamps. Modern stamps may be nice to look at but they are not an investment.
