  1. A diesel engine has a bit more value I think and the garage has to find a good one for you otherwise you come back right away.

But this 25.000 is a good indication I think incase of just needing an engine and no automatic gearbox.

I mean 7,5 km with 1 liter fuel on petrol and 6 km on a liter lpg.

  2. it seems that 4,800฿ for 2.5cc and 6,800฿ for 3.0cc quotation I was given is correct

Well we know the transport officers have to make some money to and my gf payed last november 4500 Baht for a 4 door pick up 2.5 liter Turbo diesel 2003

I gess the officer didn t know my gf has a farang so don t show your face there.

    2 mistakes in this statement:

    1) no, we don't know that. Maybe you do, but I have never experienced that;

    2) no, farang or not farang has nothing to do with that, you just pay the price for the vehicle in question.

Well its not the place here to tell al kind of bad T office stories but believe me I have a few over the last 5 years.

  3. Can somebody help me here please. I have a 20 year old Toyota Corona 1600 automatic with LPG conversion. I always used 91 red. It is now being phased out, should I start using 95 yellow, or get a reconditioned engine, or does anyone have any other solutions?

Your going up in octane because 91 go s out the market so you know need to do anything just fill it with 95.

Your conversion has to do with the valves seats who are hardened and the higher octane has to do with

a better and cleaner type of fuel with better knock resistance for the combustion.

And the old led protection fuel days are over long time ago if i m not mistaken

  5. Thx all, yes there would be no financing. Still wondering though, can I register it anywhere in Thailand, in any province? I don't have an address here really, I don't live in any one place, live in my GF village for a bit, in BKK for a bit, Pattaya, Phuket, etc... As I mentioned there is a BKK company office address in my work permit and on my DL, does it mean I would have to reg it in BKK?

Yes Im almost sure you have to do this in Bkk because the transport offices operate on there own thai people can registrate it only in the office of there own province.

  6. The Toyota Mighty X is basically the same thing sold as a Toyota

Hilux that has been sold around the world since the late 60s, most are

manual, most are diesel there are a few around but hard to find

with petrol / auto gearboxes, also if you want more power the Toyota Crown 3.0 straight 6 engine and gearbox fits in like it was made for it.

In my opinion they are a very strong truck.

Though I'm happy with my new 3.0L SUV, had I known about the Toyota Crown 3.0 straight 6 engine and gearbox, I would have considered going that route before buying new. Do you have any idea of the price of this 3.0L engine and installation?

I had one done in a garage here for 25.000 baht straight 24 valve 6 cilinder with an automatic 4 gearbox al included with a vat tax recepe

Only they use a lot of petrol like 1 to 7,5 and on lpg 1 to 5,5

  7. @thailoht - if you don't mind saying, how much did you sell that for?

http://www.one2car.com/TOYOTA_HILUX%20MIGHTY-X/F20120635 This one is practically the same as mine and it is going for THB 185k. I sold mine for a little more than half that price. As good of condition as it was in, it was my just my luck to have the power steering pump spring a leak just as I was cranking the engine over to show the buyer. He accepted a 'lower asking price' to cover the cost of the power steering pump replacement.

Going for means sold for ?

First of al we al know one2car is the most expensive website there is it cost the carsellers money to advertise the cars there

So they want some back from this.

Second this car isn t populair under the thai just to farangs because its not a pick up but a stationcar with a fixed backsite so you can t make it easy to a pick up like when it just have a carrieboy mounted on it.

I would say value not over 135.000 Baht

  8. yepp, Department of Land Transport, book and plate needed, bike not needed

if you want a replacement plate with same number its cheap

If you want to choose another number you pay 635 baht

Just curious is there the same possibillity for a bike as with a car licenseplate

like you buy your own name on it for a lot of money.

  9. Decent Breakfast > McDonalds  PRICELESS!

I would have brought along some sandwiches and a bottle of juice from the local 7-Eleven.

Sadly you would have your juice confiscated at the liquids check (if it's more than 100ml) :(

I heard this rule is going or is already changed so its alowed to bring a small bottle with your handlugage again.

LIke before the us flying rules where there.
