  1. Staying off radar financially is nigh on impossible in this day and age. TBH why dont you invest in commodities, Thai gold is a good one. Then spread cash around banks that dont like talking about there customers there are quite a lot, (carribean, swiss, luxemburg). This way you can also maybe look at a safe deposit box for some cash as well. I dont know if this is what your after but without going all Jason Bourne i cant think of anything else!

  2. Its actually not that uncommon to do this sitting down. Its the most common way for convicts to commit suicide in prison as there are no loops up high to hang off they use door handles. However it takes someone seriously commited/unstable to hang themselves in this manner. It is a bit suspicious, tying it onto the billboard and jumping would have broken his neck and been instant as opposed to slowly choking yourself to death. However it is still sad to see people killing themselves.

  3. Hi all,

Just a quick question. I haven't flown anywhere in a long time. I have read all about the delays at the airport. Are these delays just for International flights, or are they for domestic flights as well. I have a flight to Samui in April and don't want to miss it because i get stuck in a line for security!

    Thanks

  4. For a non-imm B visa you simply require your school to complete the paperwork (theres a lot of it) then you either do a visa run to laos and get it there, or if your school are good then they can convert your tourist visa to a non-imm B at Chaeng Wattana in BKK. You dont need anything but your paperwork from the school (and your original degree certificate if you do it in bkk), for Laos.

  5. I dont know where you live but Tops in central rama 9 have had heinz beans for the past 2 months! I normally just buy mcgarrett cheap and just as good!

  6. I have read some back stories online. Its still not 100% clear but it seems there was a messy custodial battle. The mother was an immigrant not a mail order bride. A lot of nastiness was thrown around in court. It isnt clear what is true or not with reference to Father or Mother. However when he lost the battle he only had visitation rights. On one of these visitations he took his daughter and done a runner to Thailand via London! Theres probably more available online but i've run out of time got to do some work!!

  7. Agreed, none of us really know the full story here. However too many times people just assume the male is in the wrong and the child needs her mum more. I think it is an outdated idea that women these days are more nurturing and more suitable as parents than men. As women strive for equality in all area's and focus on careers, then courts should recognise this and stop basing judgements on past morals and ideals!

  8. I hate waiting and long queues as much as the next farang! However I'd rather be moaning about big queues down than pub, than be sitting on an aircraft with bombers and terrorists! It may seem like stupid and knee jerk reactions, but if they didnt do it and a loved one was killed along with other passengers we'd be asking WHY???

Just playing devils advocate here, but a valid point i think.

  9. I have read both now, and am enjoying them. Its always good to be reminded what its like for first timers here, as you can become a bit jaded when you live here. I hope now you have done the tuk tuk thing that you will avoid them at all costs, at least until you learn the fare prices and some basic Thai!! The BTS is often packed, but its cheap clean and air conditioned and definately better than a tuk tuk ride!! Look forward to the next installment

  10. OMG, who writes this complete and utter rubbish!! Seriously, I hate politics but I could write a more interesting, even minded article with my eyes shut. Then its all Farangs fault anyway isnt it!!! How does he get the idea all Farang back the poor? I do want to help poor people but he is substiuting the word poor for the words red shirts. Apart from a few deluded and 'gone native' farang on this web site, I dont know anyone who supports the red shirts. I certainly dont.

  11. There are absolutely loads of bars and pubs in Bangkok, that are not gogo or girly bars. Try Rachada loads of bars and late night clubs. Although this is very Thai and if you dont speak any thai it might not be your thing. In Khaosan there are loads of bars, also Club culture, cafe democ and Gazebo. On sukhumvit there are pubs and bars in soi 8, soi 11. Nightclub wise soi 11 also has Bed supper club, slightly expensive and posy, but worth a look. Soi Rangnam by victory monument. This list is not exhaustive mate, theres a lot more out there if you look for it. For a cheap beer try Jools bar on soi 4 sukhumvit. No gogo or bar girls, highly recommended!

    Hope this helpsdrunk.gif

If the Calgaryll, as UDD/PTP/Thaksin mouthpiece is any indication, is obvious that the movement has no idea of what Democracy entails. They are under Thaksin & Co. perception management spell, thoroughly isolated in their Red Bubble kept angry and scared so as to be more easily manipulated. Fomenting paranoia and divisions in society.
    • Being sympathetic to one side of the Political Divide, does not a 'mouthpiece' make. Neither for you, or for me. (Well, I worry about you......just joking)
    • At least one thing they understand clearly, is that Coups are not Democracy, and standing up to coupists who were subsequently humbled electorally, is a thoroughly democratic action.......and by their works shall ye know them.
    • To relegate their political motives to singular and simplistic associations, is very disrespectful of these people. This Oppositional mantra will also keep the opposition in political purgatory. To be accused of politically not knowing your "ass from a hole in the ground" is not designed to win friends and influenec people. The majority electorate so accused have long memories and will act accordingly three years +/- from now.
    • Actually coups are well known for fomenting paranoia and divisions in society. One needs to look no further than Thailand for a demonstration of that.

.... should read 'influence'..... If ONE is going to denigrate an inferior, then ONE really should learn how to spell. LMAO burp.gif Time to go and watch some football. All of this political rhetoric is making ONE feel decidedly nauseous what!
