  1. The only things that i find worrying about a communist party in Thailand are the confirmed reports of red shirt leaders being given instruction (read...brainwashing) by Vietnamese party officials. Also Thailands very close geographically to Laos, Vietnam and China. I doubt Thailands current financial backers (USA etc) would be very happy. Plus as another poster has already said, communism as great on paper but in reality the Elite stay the Elite, they just change there names. The poor, usually get poorer!

  2. A referendum right now would be democratic and fair....... but not in Thailand at the moment. How do you think the type of person who attended that concert yesterday are going to vote? They will vote the way they are told to vote. Its pseudo-democracy, that employs effective brain washing techniques. All to bring about the return of a virtual dictator!

I agree with some of the posts above, i find it a little bit worrying that we are hearing absolutely nothing from the rival colours. At least if they held a small rally and spewed some rhetoric they would be sticking to form. The silence is a little bit ominous!

  3. I'll be honest, teaching is the thing many Grads get into in Thailand, as long as you have a degree, what it is in is relatively unimportant. I would try for any other sector using your qualifications first. If not, and you are going to teach, then stay in the U.S. and get a qualified teacher status. This would allow you to work in the top international schools and earn a proper wage. They will often recruit you direct from the U.S. and pay your flights e.t.c. However if you are all set on moving and have exhausted the other options, then try the jobs and teaching websites and forums over here. I cant post links on here unfortunately!!

  4. FYI Not everyone is a teacher some people actually have other aspirations in life and nothing to be vilified for..mad.gif

Whats with slagging teachers off on this thread? I'm a teacher i work hard and i pay my taxes. I dont come on here abusing fat useless business men who spend most of there time in Cowboy!!!

On the other points, yes visa's can be a pain, but so what. Try being non-EU and getting any visa's for the U.K. Politics are awful in any country and Europe and the U.S. arent exactly doing very well at the moment are they? Cant communicate- let me guess you are one of those people who travel and EXPECT everyone to speak English. Don't be so pig ignorant learn the language. The basics (food, drink, directions e.t.c.) are easy to learn. As for not welcome, maybe that was your general attitude to Thailand and its people shining through. Corruption........... i'll concede that point!!

  5. Soi BUAKHOW is good for hotels and you get good rates. Especially good good around the junction with soi LENGKEE. Try New Nikom Court. Clean good staff good location. I think your a bit optimistic with 400 baht though, aim about 7-800 baht and there are a ton of options.

  6. A meeting at 10am TODAY, to provide water pumps!!! Unbelievable really why werent water pumps being bought in bulk for all of bkk 3 weeks ago!!! Pervious governments did nothing to prepare for this, BUT the current government have been absolutely useless trying to score political points at the expense of the Thai people!!! Please forget about losing face and start asking for international help before more people start to starve!!!

Seriously? Why would the previous government prepare for this when they had no knowledge it was going to happen?

In all seriousness, because it has happened in 1992 and 1995 mate!!! Also BKK is sinking and directly in the way of the Northern water run off!! Also because they have been advised to by Professors at the top Universities and By the HM King himself!! Oh and also the influx of fat farang to sukhumvit doesnt help either cool.gif

In that case blame it on the Thaksin regime and every other government in power beforehand. You'd also have to blame it on beer singha, leo and others respectively for fueling the fat which is leading to sinkage.

Blame issued equally........ and dam_n them beer producers. However maybe we can use some fatties to plug the gaps in the flood walls whistling.gif

  8. A lot of you people a totally psychopathic. You discuss making political points in the midst of national emergency caused by mother nature! No government can prevent natural disasters. What you need to do is pull together during an emergency and then afterwards you do an honest analysis of what went wrong and when it went wrong.

The fact is Bangkok will have to be moved. Your forefathers built it on a flood plain and then it kept sinking because you sucked out the groundwater. No one and everyone is to blame for this, so stop the silly bickering. Really useless waste of time and resources.

Although i agree with the sentiment this is a forum for discussing these issues!!! It is definately not Psychopathic to discuss the ineptitude of previous governments in making preparations for floods which after all happened in 1992 and 1995. Even HM the King has come out twice and made recommendations that have been completely ignored. Plus the current administrations lack of idea's and complete ambiguity is a disgrace. Yes everyone has to pull together, but people (Farang and Thai) are rightfully angry. I would rather see people vent in a rational discussion on a forum, than take it to the streets or the flood barriers as has been seen recently!

Most of the people taking it out on barriers are not posting on message boards. Different classes in general and on here different nationality usually

True, I was simply trying to point out that a forum is for discussion and therefore we are not psychopathic to want to discuss the issues that surround the flooding, Humanitarian and Political.

Thanks, I live upper sukumwit area, near soi 101, do you know what the nearest hospital is?

there is a hospital,as far as I can remember, close to the corner of Suk 103.

Just shoot upto camillian in thong lor mate, bts udomsuk to thong lor then a bike!!!

  12. A lot of the post made complete sense...... and then - <br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 252); ">

"In reality, rich folk can avoid the floods by taking refuge at posh beach resorts that charge Bt10,000 per night, which is more than a month's wage for most factory workers, some of whom have already lost their jobs to the floods. Others can fly abroad to escape the reality at home."

Yes your right the rich folk can. But what about the rest of us?? What about the people living on the streets. The people in shacks along the main railway lines. What about the poor Thai people living in BKK. If this is yet another Farang thing..... then what about me, i am not even close to rich, I cannot fly home and i certainly cant afford to get out of BKK and pay (even cheap) hotel rates for the duration of flooding, on top of rent and bills e.t.c. Stop making idiotic statements, use a little bit of forethought and common sense!! The people of BKK are NOT more important than anywhere else. But flooding us just so we can have a taste of the pain and heartache is cutting off your nose to spite your face!

  13. There is a lot of anger and heartache out there. It is completely understandable. People have lost homes, buisness' and loved ones due to this flood. Then they look at central bangkok and believe we are being spared at their expense. I can totally sympathise with this.

But people need to realise that if the central business district of BKK is flooded it wont just affect people in BKK, it will affect the whole of Thailand. This is the capital city and the centre of Finance and Governance for the country. I am not saying that people who live here are more important, but the infrastructure in this area is of vital importance to the whole country. Whats more this view that only rich people live in Bangkok is ridiculous. It is a huge city, with a large amount of very poor and poor people. Most of whom are Thai. They will be the first to suffer if BKK is flooded. Other comments i have read recently (bangkok post e.t.c.) seems to blame Farangs??? People have to understand we have NO say in what happens and virtually no rights within this country. We live and work and pay our taxes. However the flood issues are solely controlled by the Thai government not rich Farang. Also not all Farang who live here are rich. In fact a large proportion are definately not even close to rich. Of course we do not want to get flooded. NO ONE wants to get flooded!! But these decisions are not ours to make. We simply have to accept what we are told, the same as all People. I sincerely hope that the flooded area's are drained quickly and that there is no more loss of life. I also sincerely hope my Soi and my home are not flooded.
