  1. well LivinLos, I do have to agree with you mate. It is a pain in the ass! The one way traffic goes the wrong way, as when you turn into a soi, it is back the front. Chairat comes back today, so I will let him know.

the tuk tuk drivers are staging a protest on the beach road at this moment, blocking traffic and flexing their mafia muscle.

It would be a great time to do a drive by and take them all out. :o

  2. Ok, according to the latest "opinion poll" done by one of the thai newspapers(Manageronline)

Here is the result on this lastest news released and it indicated a very broad support for this among the thais.

    เห็นด้วย - agree -

    78 %

    ไม่เห็นด้วย - disagree

    22 %

    :o TIT.

question: The Elite card - still going on or has it been shelved permanently?

If a foreign buyer invest 5 mil USD into land here, is their any help from the government or BOI?

Is there anything in place to help major investors own land/have voting rights???

  3. I get sick of statements about ALL real estate brokers/agents being liars/cheats etc. For heavens sake, its like calling all Thais cheats/lazy, all English being thugs and all septics being a waste of space - generalisations are so common on this board by many of you.

I have run a real estate company here for 10 years and I have been very successful due to being on top of my game and making sure all my dealings are straight - yes ALL!

After the Tsunami, I said things were booming because of it and that was the case.

After the coup I said things were not affected here in Phuket and they were'nt, when the the nominee shareholders were strictly enforced, I said, only buy a free hold condo/apartment in your name.

I now say, only buy a freehold condo/apartment in your name, leave land and homes alone - things are very unstable (yes a blind man could see that) and do not risk any of your hard earned money.

The trouble is there is to many "fly in and set up a real estate company for 1 year and fleece the buyer" types that make us all look like that way.

All you posters that are saying all of the agents here are untrustworthy, please state what you do for business, so we can all have a pop at you.

  4. Well how about the double price smams AGAINST Thais???

I heard that a bus ticket to Kho Samui the other day, would cost 450 for a ferang or 700 baht for a Thai.

Secondly - FERANG ARE RICHER THAN THAIS - its a fact. Paying an extra quid for something when we can easily afford it is fine by me - stop being such tight fisted @*$&@($%&$($('s

    :-)

Ok, pop around and Ill cook you up a few dishes for 45k.

  5. Before Jail them I suggest to send them in Baghdad or Mogadiscio for a month ( to help them to better understand some concept ..... )
    From Phuket Gazette:

Boy, 15, shot dead for staring

PHUKET CITY: Piyawuth "Ab" Pattamapaneewong, 19, and Wirat "Dam" Thongsu, 20, both from Phuket City, have been charged with gunning down a 15-year-old boy about 12.30 am on December 24.

The victim was identified as Chumphon "Toto" Ruengdam, son of Prasert "Phu Yai Soi" Ruengdam, Headman of Rassada Village 3.

Police arrested the two suspects about 5 am the same day in a rented room on Samkong Rd, where they were sleeping soundly. Police found a shotgun along with four unused cartridges and a fifth spent cartridge behind the headboard of the bed.

The officer in charge of the case, who asked to remain anonymous, said that Chumphon was riding around Phuket City with six to eight friends, when he saw Ab and Dam at the Clock Tower traffic circle.

Ab and Dam were allegedly incensed by Chumphon staring at them, and followed him to Satree Phuket School intersection; where Ab pulled out a sawed-off shotgun from his waistband and hit Chumphon twice over the head with it.

Dam sped away, but as he did so Ab fired at Chumphon, riddling his body with nine pellets.

Chumphon managed to hold on to his friend for 200 meters or so after being shot, but then fell to the roadway and died.

The two suspects have been charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Id rather send them over to knock off George and invade the US. You have to get to the root of the problem. :o

IMHO - the 'root of the problem' is that Phuket is now an international "no-man's land" with no true cultural roots. It no longer has a local Thai cultural identity as the population is drawn from all over the kingdom with a large international influence.

Couple these factors with the failure of authorities to recognise the multi-cultural mix, allow an 'international' lifestyle and educate the workforce to world standards ie. blocking/ denying world events & influences - then confusion and ignorance is bound to reign!!!

    Ignorance breeds chaos....

Your right about Phuket, a blind man could see that, but this isnt a Phuket problem it is a country problem, both in rural areas and city areas.

"saving face" is a cultural problem and mix that with the bravado of youth, some alcohol or drugs and this is what happens.

  7. I am also planning to go to Krabi in the near future do you have any recommendations for hotels?

I always stay ay The Krabi Sands. It is owned by Mark an English guy and is a great place to relax.

The food is some of the best Ive had (Thai and foreign).

Huge swimming pool and a beach that is very deserted - lovely!

  8. I think a person who cuts off a persons legs and arms, so they can profit, should be shot..

I spoke with a beggar quite a few years ago and his story was repulsive. The "mafia" cut off his arms and legs when he was an infant and put him another womans arms to sit on the streets to make money for these mongrels. The worst part of the story for me, was that his parents let this happen because they were paid.

    A life for a life, I say.

  9. I have a business proposition from a long time Thai friend who owns a resort with his thai partner. His Thai partner wants to sell out & on the land title they have both their names on it.(no company has been formed). What option do I have? My friend wants me to own half the land & open a company to together to run the Resort. How possible is it & what are my options if things go wrong! Any Ideas?

If his partner wants to sell and you want to own half, I dont understand the problem. Buy him out, set up a company together or lease from him.

I wouldnt do it myself, as many Thai/Farang partnerships go horribly wrong due to stupidity, greed, laziness, miscommunication and cultural differences.

    good luck.

  10. Drunken yob rips off driver, then assaults him. Driver fights back and gets charged. :o

<deleted> if he was drunken yob, why give him 120 bhat and not just give him a slap for his cheek. It's about time they got with the times if they were a bit nicer and more helpful they may get bigger tips. I don't be;lieve in violence for one miute but it seems to be the Thai way that they are either mob handed or tooled up.

go back to where you came from if the thais are so horrible.

who the fluck are you child... What is posted is fact. Have you ever had an altercation with a Thai person? They carry weapons or depend on numbers to win. Fact..

Now apologise to the forum for being a ######. :D

  11. Tuk Tuk drivers in Phuket are all southern people, with the majority coming from Phuket itself. It is hard to oust these pricks as they are the local mafia. The governor wanted to implement new taxis last year and roads were blockaded in Karon/Kata and The Governors office in Phuket. The Governor at the time said he would call in the army................... nothing happened due to fear.

Im sorry to hear about your ordeal KHall. Ive just moved to Patong, so I expect I will come to blows soon. :o

  12. I would like to see the IQ results of the university grads and the master degree bunch.. Im not being inpolite here, I just think that a masters degree in Thailand must be equivilant to a high school certificate, as many who I work with and meet with socially are not very smart, both socially and worldly. Good people though.

some might say, the pot calling the kettle black..............

  13. chuchok, can you sort your kiwi mates out here, they are now posting under Australian aliases... An Australian couldnt be a dumb as Australia 80 surely? :o

    Here's my scenerio...

Welsh (another country of sheep "herders". :D ) man gets into Tuk Tuk, says drive me to Royal Crown, Tuk Tuk driver says ok, they arrive, the Welsh man says thanks and hands him 120 baht, the Tuk Tuk driver says "not enough", the Welsh guy argues with him, the guy pulls out a knife and stabs him..... thats it, normal Patong day!

All of the other <deleted> on this thread, is just that, <deleted>.

He had a few drinks - big deal, why are the inbred posters here using this to boost there wacky stories..

over to the inbred for another round of wacky backy scenerios.

  14. :o

He put one of my land papers in his drawer once because I wouldnt pay his bribe.

    ###### Shame! :D

Former Kathu Land Office Chief found guilty

BANGKOK (The Nation): The Criminal Court in Bangkok on Monday sentenced former Kathu Land Office Chief Bunchoo Limraksasin to 20 years in prison after finding him guilty on 10 counts of demanding bribes for land titles between December 21, 2001 and March 8, 2003.

The court also found a second defendant in the case, 34-year-old Meena Kalra, guilty on seven counts of conspiring to launder money for Bunchoo. She was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The court heard testimony that Bunchoo had accumulated 5.4 million baht from processing land titles for one woman in 2002, including a final payment of 2 million baht in cash delivered in a gift-wrapped box to Bunchoo by the woman’s land broker.

A warrant was issued for Bunchoo’s arrest after the woman reported him to police, but Bunchoo, who was transferred to Ubon Ratchathani in June 2003, initially evaded arrest.

After a manhunt in Phuket and Phang Nga in July that year, officers from the Crime Suppression Division eventually arrested Bunchoo in Ranong on July 20, after his return from the Andaman Club casino and resort in Myanmar.

The charges against Bunchoo stated that he transferred more than 17 million baht to two bank accounts in Meena’s name and bought a 2.1-million-baht condominium for her in Bangkok’s Phaya Thai District.

Both defendants strenuously denied all charges, as well as allegations that they had been involved in an adulterous affair.

Regardless, the court found Bunchoo’s denial of bribe demands and money transfers unconvincing, noting in its summary that it was unusual that Bunchoo’s wife was unaware of the large transactions involving Meena.

Noting that Meena’s monthly salary was only 5,000 baht, the court also found unconvincing her claim that she was able to amass 17 million baht in personal savings.

Meena had been employed as a part-time helper at the Kathu Land Office when Bunchoo was also employed there.

  15. Although I have found most tuk-tuk drivers duplicitous in applying budhism philosophy, most accidents of this sort do occur because of the rampant scale of alcoholism brought upon by unbearable living conditions of Thai males and Western males (slaves of women [sic]), corporations, materialistic brainwashing, and greed AND tuk-tuk drivers --at the end of the day-- having ALSO to pay for having sex with Thai girls! :D

As long as woman will continue to charge men for having sex with them and men be stupid enough to pay, this and other events of the sort will occur. I think it is important to dig a bit deeper to find the real causes of these and other issues. However, I do think also that a fair system for all for charging for fares would be to the benefit of all, except the tukl-tuk drivers who scam new tourists, of course. If one is happy for the service (no scamming), then it would be a good idea to reward the tuk-tuk driver with a bit of a tip.

PS: I have had as good and positive experiences with Thai people as I have with other people of other cultures as I have had bad experiences. People are people. Let's remember that +/- 10% of the population of any country does own +/- 50% of the wealth of a country. Most of them are men. And most are men because most women tell all men that sex has a cost and most women have outrageous and dysfunctional needs.

    :o ok.
