  1. Pathetic, like stealing paper-clips from the office!
  2. I heard it was being done at Jomtien. (or via agents)... but now land borders are open the old method, of simply leaving without a re-entry, and coming in on a Visa Exempt (or Tourist Visa) and then converting to a Non-Imm-O from that should be available. The old situation, a Permission from an O-A could not be converted directly. (But.........).
  3. I had a pal who would refuse to buy a drink in a restaurant, citing that as being a 'rip off'.... but as soon as we left he would be buying a bottle of water at the 7-11. He was a bit of a tightwad ... I have no problem with guys complaining here, more with those saying not to. Comparing might help to keep prices down!
  4. Ah, but is that a full 330ml can....or a splash of flat stuff from a huge plastic bottle?
  5. That venue on Suk, near Hwy 36 must not have worked out for them so they moved again, Collingbourne, details posted above my post. Wasn't that quite some time back?
  6. Left when old age caught up......
  7. That has always been the case hasn't it.... you may well be there for some service that is not busy, or even occupied, yet still had to join the scramble at the entrance desk and approach the sour faced Rottweiler guy to get a ticket for the right queue. Now we have another method.... is it improved? If you arrive to a queue that goes out of the gate dare you go to the front, people get <deleted> off. No wonder some use agents.
  8. One stopped me in the 80s and I couldn't get away without giving him 100 baht... now that they recognize.
  9. And I suspect the old guy with all the watches?
  10. You missed that Euro millions UK win then! £195m?
  11. I thought that is what I said... maybe not clearly. I was focusing on the police as that is the interaction that matters. Years ago, police asked for a licence...and a home one was sufficient, despite the fact they probably could not decipher many of them. At some point they started focusing on IDPs, and I believe it was because so many tourists didn't bother getting one, so more fines were being taken. I recall a post where a tourist was griping that the rental outfit let him rent without an IDP and he got stopped and fined, always somebody else's fault isn't it.
  12. The police only seem to check you have an IDP (or local licence), as so many do not, and then they get the fine. The rental companies are supposed to check if a person has a specific M/C licence, but I don't believe they check for that, nor the IDP.
  13. There are a lot of snouts in that particular trough, and every now and again one must pause and ask for a refill!
  14. It's the lies and deception and other failings such behaviour demonstrates...... for people in positions we expect better of (but rarely see).
  15. Yes, they make dangerous sea crossings to get into the UK too.....despite what all the nationals of countries like the USA and UK might say, they appear a lot more attractive than other parts of the world. Free money might help
  16. Rotten from the top down........... Good on Big Jok I say....
  17. Shorter suspension.... more opportunity for repeat offences and more money!
  18. Did they not pull the curtains fully closed at The Love Inn then?
  19. Maybe a little off thread... but I saw video of a Parkinsons sufferer, who was shaking a lot, even unable to speak. vape some of this stuff and his symptoms quickly abated, and he was able to talk normally. Apparently this lasted some hours.... Surely this should be administered and readily accessible to sufferers.
  20. Wasn't carrying another helicopter was he?
  21. It was some years back but I recall taking a mini-bus from Pattaya to DMG to get a flight out... left very early. Sadly the operator consolidated 2 mini-buses. into one, the other being a multiple drop off at various Bangkok Hotels....and they tried to do that first. WE got very close to the wire and there were quite a few irate people with flights... learned a few German swearwords..... Then a very dangerous ride once at high speed by some reckless kid driver, I was done with mini-buses in Thailand.
  22. Restaurants have traditionally made their profits on their drinks.... particularly on their alcoholic ones, and they have good margins. As a non Coke/Pepsi drinker I think they should charge 100 baht for that awful overly sweet kids drink... and therein I have reservations... people who bring their kids will be deterred. What does a can of coke cost in a 7-11? I always thought the price for a cup of tea was too much in a particular cheap eatery.... and although it was a large cup, a regular small tea bag was used and the tea feeble because of it.
  23. Are you sure about that, strikes me as unlikely.
  24. Yeah, target them with an new charge to be in the country.
