  1. Once, with a broken wrist, they took my insurance card, but insisted on taking money off my credit card first before they would do anything, or the insurance company responded. Another time , my insurance company responded they would not cover, and I had to pay and claim myself... but the hospital did perform a small procedure, and I paid with my CC soon after. Fortunately not been in a more critical situation.... yet.
  2. That is how it read to me.... Are you trying to say your post was pointless?
  3. I would expect so..... the majority was once UK... add European countries to that. Certainly not all.
  4. I saw a presentation by domestic medical insurance company here suggesting, in some cases, Thailand was becoming more expensive than even there. More my point, if one lives here, and had a medical issue, the cost can eat up a serious chunk of your savings. People in the UK (and other European countries) are unfamiliar of needing savings to cover such events.
  5. Well you are wrong because the rural villages, Thais also didn't bother too much! Bangkokians seemed to be the serious ones. Thais may be concerned wrt Covid, but that concern kept their total per capita deaths to fractions of that the West encountered!
  6. Well it is some effort for mine as she hates them and the smell, so it is a great compliment! My return favour is to catch the odd snake in the garden, which she is terrified of!
  7. Take a look now... a smidgin under 35.
  8. After six or more months living like a monk and working long hours in the Middle East, a few weeks in Thailand was some hedonistic fantasy in paradise.
  9. What on earth are you on about? Mask wearing outside is getting pretty loose these days in Pattaya....I will likely have to start wearing one again on the bike as we get back to so called normal, the damned tourists return, traffic becomes heavy again.
  10. So they are being paid to let the camera crew in?
  11. Common sense is not so common. I see no effort to keep the people 'scared'.... just a typical and usual Thai dragging of feet over getting things done.....
  12. Actually they determine you can pay first in my limited experience, and you pay PDQ.
  13. It gives you something to read and errrr complain about!????
  14. Of course, Thailand gets the airport scanners out each and every time there is some infection worry... we are on the monkey pox now aren't we? More general use is currently a waste of time, nobody is policing it anymore, the lady at the desk behind it is busy making some ornaments or something, the equivalent to knitting.
  15. Then how do you qualify for the 30 baht scheme? It is certainly NOT open to all of those on a retirement extension!
  16. Two old and much repeated chestnuts in one post... an attention grabber.
  17. I get frequent communications from a good friend in Australia who has a degenerative incurable disease and he speaks highly of the service he obtains. And a pal in the UK has just got the all clear after cancer treatment.... But the subject is Thailand.... if you have run out of money here, getting medical treatment is unlikely.
  18. I presume the people bitten have been confirmed as having rabies. Two confirmed cases is what it says. Sometimes one has to join up the dots and not be in denial because the lines have not been penned in.
  19. My Mrs did something similar and had the same attitude, she was doing a friend a favour. I wonder if the debtor in your case, will borrow again when she realizes she has paid off the debt in full?
  20. That is concerning..... random addition of drugs to ones food!
  21. Then you presumably have obtained some form of residency or worked in Thailand? I agree what you quote is great, but it is not readily available to most retirees in Thailand.
  22. Did it strike you as odd that motorcyclists all wore helmets and people stopped at red traffic lights and pedestrian crossings in Europe?
