Best to go the airport and pay the 20k baht fine when leaving the country. He will banned from entering the country for at least a year.

If he went to immigration he might be detained and deported.

No problem to travel on a domestics flight. Showing his emergency passport since they only want to see the passport for identification purposes.

-My neighbour also health condition some time back was in the same situation. I believe a 5 year overstay, Went with his Thai wife and seems also with an agent to the airport, paid the fine was banned and flew back home.

    No detention.

Mind you within a year of returning he passed on....

Yup, no amount of money will cure the follicly challenged, you have only got to look at Sir Elton with all his money he has and he still wears those dodgy syrups !!

Yes and Elton is even more ugly now with his syrup than he was without it!

I'm assuming you're talking about the UK State Pension when you refer to a "Government Pension" as opposed to a pension as a former Government employee.

Transam has covered everything, but you might also find this helpful State Pension if you retire abroad

Thank you and yes I was referring to UK State Pension,

By the way on a related issue does anyone know if I can ask for my State Pension be sent direct-not via any bank- to  my Wise account in UK (used to be called transferwise)?

  4. I recently got a letter from an overseas bank (not USA) requiring personal info re tax residency. Bank says it is obliged to obtain information from bank account holders under The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.

Does anyone knw anything about this ? From my research it seems it is only concerned wth USA citizens living overseas?

    Anything else I should know?

    Thank you in advance.

If a TM30 was submitted you should be able to do your report online. But if the approving officer does not check for a new address it could be denied.

You do it by mail but best to include a copy of the receipt for the TM30 report.

I reported on line with my new address. I copied from the TM30 report given to me by my Landlord which only gave my street number etc. The reply from

Immigration was my 90 day had been rejected. But on the rejection Immigration said:

"address is not clear, please check your room number and submit back"

Which I did with precise details of my address including room number.

A day or so later my application ws "approved".

So thank you Joe and thank you CW immigration. Seems at least in my case  the rejection was accompanied by an explanation of how to rectify matters which I did.

  6. "Saw palmetto is commonly used in Europe and the United States as a treatment for enlarged prostate. Some small studies have shown benefit. However, several large studies do not show that saw palmetto reduces the size of the prostate or eases the urinary symptoms that come with an enlarged prostate"

    https://www.webmd.com/men/prostate-enlargement-bph/supplement-guide-saw-palmetto

-Note : Most specialist medics will not perscribe saw palmetto for enlarged prostrate but if I am wrong please post here the name, location and qualification of a proper doctor who does make such a claim.

Maybe Sheryl would like to give her view....

  7. Harnal Ocas.

    Take once before bedtime.

Available over the counter at for eg Boots chemists.

Recommended by leading specialist at major hospital in Bangkok.

In my case this medicine  reduces the number of times I need to go to pee at night.

But surely you need to seek advice yourself from a specialist?

  8. Later this year I go for my annual eye test at a private hospital in Bangkok. I have cataracts in both eyes but so far the eye specialist has not recommended cataract surgery. When he does I would like to know:

    i) which is the best cataract surgery?

    ii) What is Lasik surgery?

iii) My insurance policy excludes eye disorders as well as excluding Lasik surgery but says "excepting a cataract surgery for implanting an intraocular lens..."

    what does this mean?

    Many thanks for any input.

Not always and it can depend on the office you report to. I did my online report earlier this month with a new passport number without a problem.

    Maybe a change of address.

Question to Joe or anyone who knows:

I have successfully done my 90 day report on line a couple of times(CW). At the beginning of July  I changed my address to a different location in BKK. At that time my Landlord did a notification of residence(TM 30) and I have  a copy of the confirmation given to my Landlord from Immigration, namely,  that they - immigration -have on record my new address.

In the next week I am scheduled to again do my 90 notification.,which I intend to do on line.

Due to the new address do you consider my 90 day on line report will  be accepted or rejected?

If rejected, surely I can then do my report by post ?

Or is it being said then I need to go to Immigration in person simply because I have changed my address?

    Thank you for any imput.

  10. I am not very knowledgeable re internet issues, so need some advice and excuse any stupid question!

I recently moved to a new place with "free wi-fi" so it was claimed.

I use the wi fi for my PC, tab and mobile phone.

For various reasons the wi fi  where i now stay is not good and even when its available -which ain't often -the connection is poor.

    However:

I have found I can get a strong internet connection by using tethering from both my Galaxy phone and from  my android  tablet (both 4G) onto my PC.

By the way I pay the maximum amount on my phone and tab to have unlimited 4g.

    My questions are:

    i) these connections(phone and Tab) are wi fi connections, right?

ii) Is there anything that the phone and Tablet tethering connections cannot be done on the PC compared with if I had a traditional wi fi connection?

iii) I assume I can get unlimited usage on my PC by using the tetherings mentioned above?

iv) I am asking TOT to see if they can install wi fi which i will pay for...is that necessary?

    v) Anything else I should know?

    Many thx in advance.
