  1. The main work Russians do is to act as tour guides. Since the Thais seem to be incapable of learning any language than English (and then not very well), they are unable to act as tour guides for Russian tour groups. Therefore Russian tour companies need Russians to act as Russian speaking guides. Since tour guide is an occupation reserved for Thais, the only way for these companies to operate is to employ guides illegally. Its Thai labour laws that need amending not immigration law.

Identity cannot be legislated, the loss in the referendum must have affected everyone to some degree but the article talks about 40% of voters crossing into independence camp in a space of only fifteen years.

A couple more screwups by London and the issue will come up again, and who knows how it would turn out next time around.

The fact is that there are 1.6 million people there who do not identify themselves with united Britain, you can't change it with "period".

Maybe they should consider returning to Ireland.

That kind of bigotry is one thing that drags Scotland downward and backward. If the moderators at ThaiVisa understood the full implications and divisive nature of your comment they would remove it for the claptrap that it is. Or you could do the decent thing and delete it yourself.

If this story is true, the military will be busy in the near future working on a a few million similar cases..

    sounds to me like nonsense...

This is exactly why Yingluck did not win the heart of Thai people.

Her police forces only take bribe and did nothing.

    Prayuth's army is different.

They sincerely work toward the happiness of Thai people.

No bribe needed, yet diligently work for the real Thai people.

That's not true. A donation to the police benevolent fund got you excellent service from Plod in my experience.

Sorry to say this ( I'm saying that as I know I will have comeback from dogooding tripe ) But this idiot could have caused a mass panic and in this day and age its not allowed, he should be charged as if it was real. And shame on CM airport for letting him through plastic or not, a discrase in my mind !

What is the point of having security? To smile and say Sawasdee? They are there to STOP this type of thing. Imagine if it was a Muslim kid with his Muslim parents on board? There would be massive panic with everything in the news at present!

This fool needs to do a few months behind bars. he is NOT oblivious to the news either!

How do you know he isn't a Muslim? Muslims take 'selfies' too.....

  5. I broke a coffee mug in my hotel room at the Centara hotel in Khon Kaen a month or so back. When I checked out they tried to charge me 300 baht for it. I refused to pay and offered them 40 baht (my estimate of the cost of replacing the (non brand named) mug)). I was expecting a compromise deal to be struck around the 100 baht mark, but in the end they drew up a bill saying I refused to pay. I wrote on the same bill that I had not refused just offered less than they asked and everyone was happy. Businesses (and I am a former business owner in Thailand) should factor breakages - other than malicious one - into their costings.

All the confusing immigration rule changes and bad publicity regarding scams and attacks are taking its toll regardless of announcement by TAT which is a publicity stunt.

The massive increase in beer prices due to tax rises haven't helped either. The majority of tourists enjoy a few pints when they are on holiday and bar prices are nearly as high as Europe. Restaurant meals for cuisines other than Thai have also risen (and a drink in a restaurant is even more expensive than in a bar).

Quite simply tourists want safety, fun and value for money and in many respects Thailand no longer offers this.

  7. The irony here is that Purachai, Thaksin's home minister did exactly the same as this some years ago - went on a moral crusade to clean up Thailand - no sex workers, bars closed at midnight, kick out foreigners etc etc. The NCPO aren't doing anything that hasn't been tried before - several times. Things will soon revert to normal as the ordinary Thais are masters at getting around restrictive laws enacted by their rulers (elected or not)

business people happy with, etc.," ? To me this is a warning sign of the formation of a new " Ole Boys Club " !

I don't think the old 'ol boys club' ever went away.

How about asking the Thai people as a whole if they like men who stole power by force with guns, acting as ministers, rather just 'businessmen'?

But why would anyone want to visit a rapist, child abuser, murderer or more likely, Nigerian drug trafficker?

Because, whatever they have done, they are still human beings and the sentence is worse for a Farang or a Nigerian being away form their home country.

The arrogance of the man is breathtaking. He is forming a cabinet as though he were the freely chosen choice of the Thai people instead of a dictator in jackboots who stole power at the end of a gun barrel.

Difficult for the junta to allow this kind of disruption. If they don't stop it, others will become more emboldened. coffee1.gif alt=coffee1.gif width=32 height=24>

Police should just limit to control traffic light and issue tickets. Protector arrest should be the job of army and military court.

Would you support this kind of thing in your own country? My hope is that the answer is 'no'. Why then are you happy to see the army trample all over the rights of the Thai people?

  12. I would rather walk than fly THAI. I usually drink on flights, sometimes a fair bit, but I have never got loud, rude or offensive. Anyway this one flight to London, an ageing stewardess told me after about 3 glasses of wine that she thought I'd had enough. I called for the chief steward, assured her that I was not drunk or causing offense etc. so he told the stewardess to serve me. Thereafter she came up every five minutes and sarcastically asked me if I wanted a refill. I might have to tolerate loss of face issues in Thailand, but when I have a choice I'd rather do without this childish attribute. So I generally fly with Middle Eastern airlines where the gals (and guys) are on fixed term contracts and when the 'crows feet' get a little to obvious the contract isn't renewed.

A quick look at their website suggests all the directors are Thai, all are men and nearly all ethnic Chinese if you use the 4 syllables plus in your surname = Chinese rule. What other airline with a global reach has such a restricted director base in this day and age? British Airways fro example is run in tandem with Iberia and has an international directorship structure.
