My friend and I have bought bicycles to get a bit of exercise but have quickly grown bored of riding around the estate we live on. Neither of us are keen to cycle on the roads if it can be avoided. I know that Lumpinee and Phudda Monthon are good bets for cycling but we are looking for somewhere a bit closer, we live in the Rama 2 area. Any suggestions???
Also I noticed on an old copy of one of those illustrated maps of Bangkok an advert for organized cycling trips around Prapadaeng however the number no-longer works. Anyone know what happened to that?

My wife, I and my daughter are currently in Thailand and have been here for over three years now on a variety of visas Non-B, Multiple tourist, Non-ED etc...
My wife is Indonesian 23 I am British 26 and my daughter is also British under 2
We are travelling to visit family in the UK at xmas and are unsure what visas we should go for n order to return. Currently my daughter is on over-stay and my wife and I are on tourist visas.
We do not work in LOS and wish to obtain visas for all of us to be here long termish. A Thai friend suggested that it is possible for people of our age to be granted Non-O visas on the basis of a 'social visit' i.e. you have friends here. I am especially keen that it is not necessary for my daughter to have to cross the border more than say annually.
I am planning to apply the the Consulate in Cardiff by post just as soon as we get back to the UK but don't know what I should apply for... can anyone offer any assistance??? Many thanks.
For anyone wishing to attack me for my daughter being on overstay here is the reason...

Buying, buying a condo.. what’s the enjoyable time spent with other people, especially when the conversation is entertaining and amusing?

I am travelling to the UK for three weeks at christmas, can anyone tell me of a firm that will cover my family and I for the trip (none of us are Thai) ?
Thanks

I live in the KOK with my wife who is Indonesian and our daughter who has a British passport. We will be visiting the UK for three weeks at Christmas and I am concerned about health care care for my wife and child when we visit. Are they both eligible for health care if they should need it? Do I need to fill out some forms and also does anyone know how I get an NHS number for my daughter.
Should I be looking for health insurance????????
Many thanks in advance.

My 2 year old just started at Ploenchit International Kindergarten school
They have a website at www.pemani.com/PIK/
It's located on Soi Ruam Rudi, as are a few other schools
Though he hated it at first he loves going now. The teacher writes a few lines each day with an upate on what he's done.
Although the website looks good at first I can't get any where with it... what are the fees like and where do you plan to send your child after there? Also what races are the kids, is it a fair mix or something of a white club (which I'd prefer to avoid)
-
Although it a few years away I am beginning to think about what school I will send my daughter to. I would be grateful if anyone could let me know their recommendations for English speaking kindergartens / international schools in Bangkok. Many thanks.
What area?
Well we live in Rama 2, but I am not hopeful on the finding anything in this area front so we'll move if needs be.
Thanks all for your replies, I do not want my daughter to have to study any Thai is that possible?

"Briton" is only correct if the press employees are sure that the victim is of celtic extraction.... The use of "Briton" in circumstances like this is sloppy----though more and more prevalent over the years.
If you want to be really pedantic the term 'Briton' should only be applied to a speaker of a Brythonic language - i.e. Welsh, Cornish or Breton. But this is entering into the realms of ethnicity and politics and not really relevant to this thread. Hope the guy pulls through.
www.dictionary.com
2 entries found for briton.
Brit·on ( P ) Pronunciation Key (brtn)
n.
A native or inhabitant of Great Britain.
One of a Celtic people inhabiting ancient Britain at the time of the Roman invasion.
A member of a Brittonic-speaking people.
So the man was a Briton then.

I have a few immediate thoughts ....
Presumably the 8-year-old's father is nowhere on the scene, thus with the ex-BG mother in jail - what's going to happen to the little girl? Hopefully somewhere in the extended family is a truly loving couple to take care of her, but I fear that she will simply be "fattened" and "matured" then returned back into prostitution to repay those who care for her for the next few years.
Have the police identified the 12-year-old and also arrested her parents, or at least investigated them?
And what was the involvement of the Condo staff while all this was going on? Did they not get suspicious and report it, or did the infamous "not my business" mentality prevail?
Glad to see the boys in brown are earning their crusts lately and rounding up these alleged perverts with regularity. Sooner they're all in clink the better.
edit - Oh yeah, almost forgot this - Somchai? Another Somchai arrested for very serious crimes? What is it about people with that name? Seems like every second, murderer, rapist, procurer, pimp, thug, trafficker, and corrupt cop or politician's son is called Somchai ...... what's so popular about being "Mr Yes-Orange" anyway?
------
To the roving glamour model who tried to hijack the thread in the second posting - have you no empathy for the abused children of this region? Your "near miss" with danger should have been the topic of a seperate thread, not a narcissistic "look at me" announcement on the back of this child's misery.
Gaz
I think 'Somchai' means 'proud to be male' or something like that, but yes I have often thought that it seems like most lunatics/criminal/bent policemen are called Somchai!

You say you have not returned to the UK in 8 years. You may be aware that passports are now only issued for 5 years in the UK so even if I get a brand new one before I come will I have to return to UK after 5 years to get a new passport and then get the O Visa again while I am there?
10 year passports are still available ive just been back to the UK and renewed mine 48 page 54 pound 50p valid until 03/03/2016 (i know its longer than 10 years thats because my previous passport was full rather than expired......they give you an extra 9 months free)
I could of renewed in Bangkok but was home anyway for a new visa.
I have a ten year 36 page UK passport issued in Bangkok last october
