  1. Can you provide a source that says you have to carry passport (other than some person saying so?). The requirement is photo ID AFAIK.

Believe this could be part of the extension of stay process as they take your fingerprints/photo produce an ID card for the same time period. Very simple and almost no additional cost to produce.

meaning i can carry my country ID card and my country driving license (valid for driving in Thailand) when traveling around Thailand and leave the passport at home? And this won't have any problems if the police or immigration stop me?

That's cool lopburi3, thanks for the info

  3. Got to say, I think the new layout is much nicer. The mobile site is a nice addition too. It might be me, but it does seem to be a little slower, had a few issues today, but seems to be chugging along just fine now, all in all a nice upgrade.

Mobile site? I just tried to open www.thaivisa.com/forum on my BB to no avail.

    Mine worked! (BB - Dtac)

  4. ok since no one answered yet, i'll add up abit.

while going through some sites i found the following -

"Foreign company not carrying on business in Thailand but receiving income from Thailand" Tax @ 15%

"Withholding tax @ 5% if paid to foreign company not having permanent branch in Thailand"

Does the above applies for all the contractors that my company would engage in all our projects abroad?

This would mean 15% + 5% tax from every payment for their services abroad?

FYI, my contractors does not have branch or office here in Thailand

    Thank you in advance

  5. Hi,

    Need some info here -

My company engaged a foreign contractor for a project abroad (both project and contractor is out of Thailand), my accountant states there will be a 15% tax on the amount that was quoted by the contractor upon payment via money transfer (bank). In other words, the contractor will only get 85%of what was quoted and not 100%. True?

What tax is this? Are there any other taxes besides this that i would look out for?

    Thank you in advance

  6. should have made a police report and medical check up (when it happened) so your complaint would be treated official and can be used for further actions - court, press and others.

  7. i believe the govt got it covered for all employment that got effected by the political situation. if not mistaken some 1400 people plus had registered and now awaiting funds or fund had been delivered not too sure about that but they are talking about billions if not millions of baht here.

  8. ".. mishandling of crowd control"

we are not dealing with football hooligans after a bad game here. these "crowd" or protesters are armed with lethal weapons. go up country more and you will see 1 out of 3 local thai owns a gun or atleast one deadly weapon.

so, imagine if the police / army are using "flash bang" and the protesters are using grenades - fair?
