  1. The area I live is moobarn Tararom which is on the other side of the ring road at Ramkhamhaeng Soi 150. The airport access from here is really easy (I travel a lot too) as you can use the back road instead of the highway. Never taken me more than 20 minutes to the terminal. There is a variety of house styles as there are free zones as well as developer estates. 2 International schools are close by and there is a purpose built kindergarten within the village that has just opened. Access to the ring road is very easy from this side so travelling downtown you can avoid a lot of the traffic by using the tollways. Not many expats though, mainly wealthy Thais. 2 leisure centres within the estate with pools, gym, tennis etc. as well as a 24 hour minimart, a pharmacy restaurants, local food takeaways, hair salons and a vet practice. Very quiet area lots of greenery and wildlife.

Usually a few houses available for rent, all are detached with walled gardens.

PM me if you want more information.

Thanks! sounds interesting, but can't find much info online.

I have a house at Tararrom Village Ramkamhaeng soi 9, just to warn you that ramkamhaeng road is always at a crawl during rush hours

  3. sorry OP, don't mean to hijack the thread but i do have questions with regards to the same issue -

    1) Since i am in the event management line, and i do have event management companies from abroad that comes to Thailand to manage either conventions, conferences or special events (normally with the help of the local event team). These event management companies are being contracted and fees are being paid back in their own countries by their country companies. So does this mean while they are here handling these events, all will require WP?

    2) In exhibition, normally we will have foreign teams coming in to setup their client's booth as the materials are being produce in their own countries. Different country have different techniques and style when it comes to setting up special design booths. Teams are contracted / paid by companies from their home country, do they still require WP?

    3) Exhibitors for travel trade shows in Thailand, these are normally hotel sales personnel from other countries promoting their hotel in the exhibition. Do they all require WP to conduct sales or promotions to exhibition visitors here in Thailand during the duration of the trade shows?

    4) Also along the line, if a foreign speaker were invited to give a one day talk or a 3-day seminar in front of an audience in Thailand and getting paid by a company from another country. Do the person also require a WP?

I would be surprised if most of the answers would be "Yes" as i believe TAT, TCEB or TICA are not aware of this.

  4. Last June a woman in The Hague/Holland confessed to her husband, who was present during the delivery of a baby, that she made a mistake by sleeping with a black man 9 months prior, only once she said...the baby was dark. He left in complete shock.

Many years ago a woman in a city nearby where I live, delivered twins; her husband was present also. The problem was that the twins were Chinese looking. She worked in a Chinese restaurant..... :D

I have no personal experience from the listed spas (only heard of them), perhaps some ladies here would give you feedbacks from the list.

  6. "My private jet stopped for refuelling in Malaysia and they sent 20 special-branch policemen to guard me. They love and care about me," Thaksin said in a phone-in

Just to clear things abit -

Malaysia Special Branch (based in Bukit Aman) only act as intel or to collect intel, they don't do close protection. The Special Task Force (or Unit Tindakan Khas (UTK)) does the protection task. Both are under the strict order of the Malaysia King and Malaysia Prime Minister's Office. Only if Malaysia wants to have a problem with the Thai govt in thier diplomatic relationship then the protection would be given.

Another note - The PM of Malaysia would only be given 6 - 8 man on watch at one time for close protection if he is out of the country or on domestic social visit, never even reach 20. Unless he is going to a war zone but that would be unlikely as the Malaysia Task Force would deny the visit while it is still in the planning stages.

  7. Excellent.

However I need to point out that Thailand sends Laos people back to their deaths so they aint all heart ya know.

A few months back, reports saying Thai officials were sending the stateless Hmongs back to Laos. This were despite various reports by the Hmongs that the Laos soldiers were hunting them and would kill them if they were found in Laos.

  8. Take TV for what it is ! A truly excellent piece of information not found elsewhere in Asia.

There is no need to read and comment everything - being informed is the most important thing in our daily lives.

Having lived and worked in most countries of South East Asia over the last 40 years and still being a true democrat of Swiss origin I appreciate your constant efforts to educate people about facts they cannot find elsewhere: Knowledge of any sort is one of the roots of democracy that can lead to the discussion of differing opinions, to understanding and eventually to following actions.

Please go on and thank you very much !

Second that and information it is.

ThaiVisa was and is the only place where newbies or long staying visitors to thailand could get an up-to-date information on all related matters - immigrations and visa, based on experience of other members and experts who are specialised in the field.

When the tsunami of 2004 hits Thailand, ThaiVisa were fortunate to have reports from first hand eye witness account from members of the effected areas. The first post of the account (if i'm not mistaken) was reported as early as members felt the earthquake in the morning of boxing day. Members of ThaiVisa were the first to post pictures of the aftermath before any other news could. ThaiVisa also setup a lost person forum to help other members or guests searching their love ones. Even at one point, i believe some internet based news sites uses ThaiVisa as their link for news as the information here is more up-to-date then anywhere else.

Also ThaiVisa was like a life line to blood need patients in Thailand, as some blood group was hard to find, thaivisa was the source to help locate required blood type among its members.

Then we saw the tragedy of Santika, yet again Thaivisa is the only place where first hand eye witness account would flow in before other news site would publish it. We also saw discussions of the incident from members who were fire experts and building construction expert that gave other members here knowledge and understanding what could had taken place.

So to George, the team and other members that contributed so much with sharing your knowledge - thank you and keep it up!

  9. 1) Smile always and greet co-workers when you meet them in the office.

    2) When you need to some assistant or need some stuff to be done, ask nicely. Ask with a smile (always works for me)

    3) Try to be interactive with the staff, like ask them to teach some thai (if you need some lessons) and use what they teach on a regular basis while comunicating with them. it will be a fun experience for both parties.

    4) Once you got some positive response from the above, treat them for a simple thai dinner near the office after work.

    just a few ideas...

  10. Hi All,

Got caught up in the rain last night here in Pattaya. The Dopod pro 818 was in my pocket but didn't get really wet.

Reached home, switched on the power was okay but the touch screen was not responding.

Did the usual DIY clean up (took out the battery, wipe and blow if there were any water in the phone) , switch on the phone - all okay but the touch screen still won't respond. The OS (windows mobile) operates as usual just can't get it to unlock as it only does via tapping the screen.

Question: Anyone knows a reliable shop in Pattaya that can deal with such problem?

    Thank you in advance
