  1. I don't know if I'm buying what Lotus is saying about they haven't raised their garment prices in 2 years. I rarely buy any garments from Lotus for myself, but my wife periodically buys some of her clothes at Lotus and the prices have went up according to what her and I have seen/paid.

Agreed....this is BS from Lotus that "they haven't raised their clothing prices....2 years etc etc".

They most definitely have. I am a regular buyer of the F+F business shirts due to my type of work.......they raised the prices of these shirts as well as dress trousers around 80 to 90 baht an item 4 months ago.

OK a small rise but a rise all the same.

In another post someone mentions TL selling past expiry food items, and poor quality produce (vegetables)....again I agree......the quality of their vegetables at my local Pin Klao TL superstore is absolute crap.

Add in the staff members who just love to thrash your eardrums at Level 100 with "speshil promoshuns" via the inhouse PA system while you wait in line at checkout...and all in all shopping at TL (my local anyway) has become bloody unpleasant....sadly we don't have much choice in Pin Klao within easy distance.

  2. .......There is going to be a run on depositors savings in all banks......I sense it coming.........as depositors get nervous over this KTB "wishwashy" statement......and other banks "fall into line" with KTB

(Please tell me Mr Worapak...... are you going to loan the Govt the money or aren't you.......can I have a straight yes or no? I mean you are the MD of the Bank after all and are quite used to making statements everyday)........

in the meantime I've drawn all of my funds out just to be on the safe side in case you tell me a porky

  3. Meanwhile, Deputy Commerce Minister Yanyong Phuangrach attributed the government’s inability to acquire loans from state-run banks, such as the Government Savings Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, to the strong objection from the banks’ labor unions. He thus urged the unions to think of the plight of rice farmers who had not been paid for their crops and were facing huge burdens from various financial obligations.

Yet there has not been so much as an apology from the Chairperson of the rice scheme or ant PTP ministers. However, they are quick to pour shame on the banks because of the plight of the poor old farmers.

I will also be pulling all my cash out of TMB if they as so much as hint that they are going to attend the next auction on Tuesday. I will also tell the staff why.

Totally agree with what you say...but..... you and I would be the last people on earth to even get a whiff of a "hint" that TMB, or for that matter any of the other 33 banks invited to tender - were going to/proceeded with subscribing to this loan for the Government.

The current Finance Minister has already reacted to the no-show from the banks by threatening to exclude them in the future from Government money dealings.

Now putting 2 and 2 together... these are entirely my thoughts and gut feelings rightfully or wrongfully.......

1 This threat from the MoF wouldn't have been taken lightly by the banks. Add in Boards of Directors all intertwined within "old boy networks" favouritism and the like.

    2. Lets say the banks quietly (under huge pressure/veiled threats) and without any publicity go ahead and loan the money to the current Govt.

    3. Word leaks out (as it always does in Thailand) after it has happened.

    4. 100's of thousands of people (if not millions?) vehemently opposed to this current government then rush the banks and start withdrawing their current balances. (would Thai folk do this I wonder?)

    5. What would then happen? (I don't really know to be absolutely honest with you)

I just can't help but think that this beautiful country is already in alot of strife......with this Sunday 2nd yet to come.....and I believe the <deleted> is really going to hit the fan big time from Sunday.

I am also reminded about another Government (was it Greece or Cyprus?) I truly cannot remember, who found themselves out on a limb with no money in the Govt coffers....so they swooped down on everyday folks bank a/c's nationwide...obviously with all of the Banks knowledge.

Folk then queued outside banks to find that their previous balances had been reduced by 90%....!!!!

I don't know the outcome of this particular episode (as to whether the peoples a/c's were reinstated or not)........but I have this uncanny feeling the the same could happen here in Thailand... call it the "Yingluck Govt maverick factor" if you like.......although of course it would be happening for a different reason - re the payment to the rice farmers.

This Govt is desperate to get their hands on money...make no bones about it.

ok thats my 2 bobs worth...... I am a simple retired ex Kiwi businessman....I am no expert on financial matters or politics, absolutely not. I am simply saying it as I see it...and as I see it only.

By the way I withdrew all of my funds from TMB today.........okay ...you can call me uneasy, a stupid old fool, panic stricken, I worry to much, brainless, senile???.....but I at least I have retirement savings where I can keep an eye on them.

  4. Get her dose up his lunch or snack whatever he is eating when he comes into the shop.....with a decent dose of laxative powder (tasteless and invisible when mixed with food)....get her to do it every time he eats in the shop....... that will effectively "set him on his a***e" at home for a few days everytime he eats there......

(Sorry Kiwi humour showing through) but my mother used to dose my school lunches with lax powder whenever there was a spate of my lunch being stolen by other lads when I was a junior at primary/intermediate school.... the method worked a treat

  5. Thanks. Sounds very straightforward. I didn't know passport issuing had stopped in Hong Kong, so will check out the waiting time for UK. Might be better to get it sorted now, then I'll be good to go for another 10 years,.

HI I am a Kiwi (New Zealander) I live in Bangkok.....

Just to throw a wee bit of light on this....although similar in nature to what you are planning re renewal/RT......my NZ process went like this (no doubt the UK procedure might be slightly different)

I needed a new PP to comply with the RT visa renewal. (1 year clear expiry/validity before RT able to be renewed)

Sent off (from BKK) by courier to the NZ PP Office...a renewal application form and my current PP.

NB. With an enclosed letter from me asking that they return my "old cancelled PP"

Received my new/old PP via courier ex NZ.

The NZ PP office had affixed a "Cancelled" stamp across the first page of the old PP...and cut a corner of the second page (the page that has their security code on it)

Took my Old/new PP into Thai Immi....explained to them the old and new issuance....they transferred all the "necessary" visa stamps (arrivals/departures etc etc) into my new PP........and renewed my RT at the same time (all done with a smile - from them - cost for transferring old to new info 1900 baht

    Hope this helps

  6.

Obtaining a new passport is not that easy if a passport is current and has adequate blank pages.

Actually, it isnt that difficult neither...

A damaged passport would get you a reason for replacement. Easy enough.

I wouldnt go with the lost/stolen passport, but that would get a new one too.

...Damn ..I left my PP in my trouser pocket and it went thru the laundry machine.....oh dear

  7. Lol! Thailand ready for AEC! Lol! Worst still their delusions of making Thailand the HQ or HUB for the AEC! Lol! Majority Thais cannot speak English! Majority Thais are Xenophobic! They treat Burmese, Laotians, Cambodians and Vietnamese badly and look down on them. Vietnamese, Burmese and Cambodian prisoners and workers in Thailand are abused and treated badly and yet most of these f@##$! organisations like the UN, Amnesty International and other so called NGOs do nothing to inform the rest of the world about Thailand's behaviour.

The Thai Politicans are all a joke! Only corrupted and cheating money for their families and croynies. The so called Thai Hisos are the worst bunch I ever seen in my life, they cannot even be compared to the feet of the Hisos in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia who are truly humble yet rich and are very philanthropical unlike the thai hisos who even demand monies to attend events!

Oh Please, I have to stop.......its making me laugh hilariously! lol!

Yes, Thialand can be the hub within the AEC community for the most available and cheapest but rubbish quality sex trade! Its all that they are famous for!

(couldn't resist it)....Thailand Hub of AEC (Adult Entertainment Centre)

  8. Your being suckered big time. You are only a cash cow, man up! Sinsod is never paid for a divorcee with a child. Look it up. Any relationship that begins with money is not real. You are paying way too much monthly. That is the reason that they think they can milk you big time. Would you pay this to get a white women? You left your brains on the train. Another sucker comes to Thailand, why do educated normal white guys lose their brains when it comes to Thai girls? You are a future victim, I await your sad story in the future. Read Thailand Fever.

    absolutely 100% correct........best advice yet.......

Read the above post 5 times then go and sit down somewhere quiet on your own.....and think about exactly the corner you are being/have got yourself jammed into....whilst in the corner commence reading Thailand Fever.

Sorry to say this but I also await a future read of your sad story

  9. Caveat.....I am not a licensed "head shrink" ....and this is only my opinion from reading your short post...Please take no offense as I hope I am only offering you constructive criticism.

Well since your past seems to focus only on "YOU"....and you think every year that YOU have done nothing....YOU obviously do not like who you are....if you do then no problem never making anything of your life! Might be time to make some changes. You have stated that you do not want a family (Who many of us do "live for") But family can take many forms...Neighbors, friends and even strangers. You have to let go of the "me, me, me syndrome" and start partaking in life in another form than you currently are. Volunteer, Join some social clubs, become engaged with the community...make the world your "Family" ...Its amazing how rewarding it is to help people without expecting anything in return....

Hope whatever you do you change your path to one where you believe your life has some meaning.

    Merry Christmas!

.....well said....very well said...particularly...." it's amazing how rewarding it is to help people without expecting anything in return"....

  10. To many freebie seats on Thai for starters.....families of the board...Govt workers etc etc

..........BKK to NZ via Thai one way 46000 baht..............Don Mueang via Air Asia to Ozzie via KL then to (Brisbane)....45 minute wait in Brisbane then board an Air NZ plane to New Zealand...all in return ticket cost 34700 baht.....

Total elapsed travel time both on the ground and in the air using Air Asia 19 hours......using Thai 14

Ok so AA doesnt have all the bells and whistles on board.........but you can buy cheap enough food...and plug up your Iphone/pad.

I know as I have just completed the above leg on AA.

  11. Honey...honey...honey...coming from a country (New Zealand) where honey is almost a staple food (and there's plenty of it)...here is my 2 bahts worth........

The honey sold in markets/on the street is highly suspect - 99% of it anyway.... I wouldn't buy it if I were you.

Not long ago a honey scam was unearthed whereby Australian and NZ exporters of honey to China found that the Chinese importer was "watering" down the honey by adding 95% corn syrup (looks like honey - tastes sweet like honey) + 5% imported honey into 750ml bottles and was both selling it in China and exporting it to Thailand...!!

This stuff is still sold...after assurances from the Thai Health Ministry that they would "crackdown" on this...(we have all heard that before - Thailand Hub of Crackdowns)

This imported (to Thailand) watered down muck is selling complete with "Pure NZ Honey" labels affixed to the bottle and as some other poster has already mentioned is spread everywhere throughout the street markets at 100b for 750ml (that price alone - 100b for 750ml should send a warning bell) I mean 750ml of "pure" honey should set you back around 900b - 1100b....!!!!

So onto Tesco, Big C and the likes......"Hong THong" brand honey........yes I have had it...it's okay - just..!!!

I can't comment on their "hygenic factory production" facilities I as would not have any idea on these.

Alternatives....for you to get your honey fix.......

Have someone from your home country post you a quantity (a pottle or two) ensuring the package contents won't leak when turned upside down during transit....simply post it through the local Post Office...no insurance...and not registered mail...... (don't draw attention to the package)...stuff goes missing via Thai Post regularly....register the package or insure it....and it will draw attention to it...I am sure you get the picture??

Buy imported German, New Zealand, Australian honey from the aforementioned outlets...yes it will set you back for sure but it is worth it.

Make contact with the poster (above) who buys his honey from a Ma and Pa concern...maybe he can post you some of it and you make a payment arrangment amongst yourselves.

I was very sick after eating the 750ml/100b "pure"honey from the street markets.

Apologies for the long post......hope the info is of assistance
