Foreigners in Thailand warned about not wearing face masks
Lemsta69 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
which keeps prices down and allows the old codgers to live here instead of smelly old ferrlung land. yet they complain about the poor standards. oh the irony! ???? -
Does Thailand genuinely welcome Farang?
Lemsta69 replied to Cupcake936's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
this is my plan too when I come over next month and get the non-O via an agent. I find the Thais way too childish to take seriously. they're all welcoming and smiley until something goes slightly wrong and you ask them to fix it. then it's full nastiness and potential violence. -
this may be true but it means nothing to the common man. or the people at the check-in counter who are just following a script. so it's a bit obtuse for the test providers to call it "PCR" with they know the airline or immigration at the destination and are looking for "RT-PCR".

Best Website to book a "test&go hotel
Lemsta69 replied to mrmicbkktxl's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
well they went to all the trouble to create that website and keep it up to date, for free by the way, so why should they not be allowed to shill their paid services? -

current border hop situation
Lemsta69 replied to STD Warehouse's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
LAX is in a class of their own. never going back there if I can possibly avoid it. so unwelcoming. I'm an Aussie by the way, we're close allies with the US and their war machine wouldn't work without the Pine Gap, Narrungar etc so naturally I expect the red carpet treatment instead of the suspicion. oh well, plenty of other third-world countries to visit instead ???? -

HSBC banking
Lemsta69 replied to OneeyedJohn's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
the victim blaming is being laid on a bit thick isn't it? I've needed to reset my online banking credentials a couple of times with Aussie banks because for the life of me I couldn't remember the pin I created. thankfully they made it relatively easy to do the reset over the phone. good luck with your issue, I hope HSBC come good in the end. -
I used Brave browser and got confirmation inside three minutes (even with shields up and UBlock Origin with all the filters). Yahoo email address. oh and QR codes for the vax certificate. I was pleasantly surprised that it all went so smoothly but understand that not different PC setups etc can influence the outcome.

current border hop situation
Lemsta69 replied to STD Warehouse's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
sweet. Phnom Penh trip report please ???? -
well I'm really, really boring so my call* would be to buy the 'blue-chip' coins BTC and ETH. then stick 'em in a 90 day term on crypto.com for a little extra interest. with the view to cashing in next year if and when this current bull run tops. WAGMI * DYOR, not a financial advice, I'm just an ape and any other caveats that I may have forgotten

this is what I do too! I like it so much that I just don't care about any other method even if they potentially do have merit/advantages. give me a 1080p NTb release and I'm a happy man. I'm a Luddite and haven't upgraded to a 4K screen yet.

800k for O visa retirement extension renewal?
Lemsta69 replied to SunsetT's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
afaik 12.5k is for extensions only. the 20k is for conversion to non-O (90 days) and first extension after that. that's what's been said in other threads. they also mention that the agent is located in Soi Post Office in Patts. -

I could be wrong but I don't think that person is an actual lawyer. but I'll find out soon enough ???? -

Thailand Pass Questions
Lemsta69 replied to shortstop2's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
that's nice and efficient. Bali had a separate desk and so did Phnom Penh. Jakarta did it at the normal immigration desk. I think my IO at CGK was in a bad mood because he made the visa sticker take up most of the page by putting it vertically instead of horizontally (Indo had a cute little reduced-size VOA sticker) -
Thailand Pass Questions
Lemsta69 replied to shortstop2's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
this. I've previously gotten VOAs in Indonesia and Cambodia. as you said, first you go to the visa desk, get assessed and if found worthy you pay the visa fee and get a nice little sticker put in your PP. or not so little as the case may be. then you head to the normal entry lane and get stamped in for the number of days allowed by the visa. I'm happy to be corrected by UJ but I can't e that the Thai process is any different for citizens of those countries that require a VOA to enter the kingdom.
