  1. Tell him to not bother bringing a tank. Not necessary, and no one does that. Kind of pointless anyway because if he has a problem it will be from a bad fill, i.e. bad air, which even in Thailand is very very rare. Air fills and tanks are pretty safe here. Tank failures are also incredibly rare.

An aluminum 12 liter tank is about 16 kilos.

To transport a scuba tank, it must be completely emptied and the valve removed.

From approx. 60 dives in Thailand I got 3 times oil in the air and one time the tanks had the sticker: next inspection 1998 and were heavily bleeding everywhere, so that most tanks were down to 130-160 once we arrived on the dive site.

Maybe it was just bad luck, but for sure it is not very very rare.

So get your tanks from a good company.

Definetly Agree there get Tanks from good company. Or alternatively use a company that fills onboard and no problems. All the Dive boats i know leaving Chalong use the self fill on board.

  2. Here is the website for BUPA Health Insurance, a big health insurer here in Thailand. You can compare their rates with others. www.bupa.co.th

Thanks! I'll check them out. If you need to be covered internationally (for travel outside Thailand) do you get that as part of the medical policy or do you need to buy separate travel insurance? Any suggestions on that?

The Option i used was 2 fold diving insurance and also complete medical insurance. For this i used DAN Divers alert Network.

There gold policy offers worldwide 365 day a year coverage. It may be an option.

  3. I have brought in large sums from the UK with no problems. But i did take the time to fill out all the relevant customs paperwork UK side and Walked through the red door to declare when came into Thailand. Had no problems at either end.

Im sure you will have a similar process from the US.

  5. Went to Pantip yesterday and they didn't have the Logitech Speakers. Most people never heard of them. I was told if Pantip doesn't have them, nobody will. Is this true?

Does anyone know where to get the Logitech z680 Speakers? Or the Klipsch Promedia Ultra speakers? I going to contact Logitech I guess. Argh....Came all the way to Bangkok and can't find em. Well, time to get drunk. Thanks for your help.

Ive had the same problem had the logitech speakers in England and they were brilliant. Tried getting them here and blow me not a chance. I managed to find 1 company that said they could order and do as expidited pack but price was extortionate.

I am looking for a decent set of pc speakers avaialble here in Thailand with a digital input for Ps3.

Anyone know of any. They must have the usual pc 3.5mm sockets to plug into my pc as im using sound blaster x-Fi.

    Thanks

    http://www.jrmotor.com/customize-cbr150r.html

This is a link to the bits im after for the 150R.

Managed to get a rearset and black handles from FaddyBikes and these are great just after some more changes now.

    Thanks Ian

  7. If you want to spend no more than 250,000, you can buy a brand new Kawasaki ER-6N for 247,000, 650cc, no reliability problems, and you get a green book. Spend 257,000 brand new Ninja 650R.

Thanks have already looked at the Ninja and the ER 6N but didnt really like it. Absolutely hate Kwaki Green and the ER 6N just doesnt do it for me but thanks for the reply. I know it probably makes the most sense with reliability issues and green book but it just doesnt flick my bean.

  8. Hi Guys Ian here AKA Stetch. Will be relocating to the Banpong / Ratchaburi area in the not to distant future.

Already posted a topic about trying to find locations. Maybe it would be a good idea to get a sticky thread with all the known locations and addresses of lakes for people that dont want to use the tour companies....

Theres enough peopel with this knowledge so how about sharing it.

Great board and keep up the good work.

  9. Guys im looking for lakes and locations around the Banpong / Ratchaburi area.
