  1. It may be worthwhile to go to the reporting office before your due date , taking with you anything relevant such as copy of old passport , your reporting slip,Thai driving licence, tabien baan etc ...and explain about the new passport . After all , it's you that is reporting , not your passport ....It's just possible that you'll find someone sympathetic ,given that all your details should be on file !

  2. Medical cert only needed for a retirement extention if applying at an overseas Thai embassy. Not sure about the seasoning when combining method is used as I qualify on the monthly income alone. I still usually put about B10,000 in my Thai account the same week of my extention date, and usually remove it soon thereafter. Doing my 90 day report at Krabi last time the guy said ..."Today you pay money!" .... never had them try that with a 90 day report.

    Well, did you pay?

    And what for?

Reporting can be done by post, so an EMS letter should do the trick without having to face these guys.

No I did not pay. I simply replied... "No I don't pay you anything today". He then tried to say my wife's overstayed. I took her passport and opened it to her 90 day report from last time that HE himself had stapled into her passport. I have been here a little over 15 years and have never had one of these guys TRY this. Looking forward to my yearly retirement ext. in a couple weeks....My family and I have always been compliant with immigration laws here and never given anyone cause for incompetent or otherwise behavior.

Just as a cautionary note , see what they do regarding your reporting date , when you apply for the annual extension . I mention this , as, although I'd only reported 2 weeks previously , and as such my next due date was in March ....after renewing my annual visa with 3 days to spare , I discovered by chance that they had re-set my reporting date to the expiry date of my old visa .

This was done by the "back -room " team.

Now, I may be wrong, but I can't recall this being normal procedure.,?

At no point was I advised of this new reporting date and I,m still not sure that it wasn't done intentionally so that I would miss it .(and by 10 weeks !) When I returned the next day to report again , the helpful lady at the front also seemed confused by why this had happened and I think is also less than impressed by the way her "superiors "operate .

  3. Must say that I've never had any problems with 90 day reporting , the front desk staff have always been good ,especially the lady ,very friendly ,helpful and efficient .

  4. RT @191Thailand:

There has been 202 deaths on roads so far during the new year holiday in Thailand: Day 1 (33), Day 2 (38), Day 3 (77) & Day 4 (54).

Does anyone get killed on the road on the other days of the year?

And sadly , publishing these figures neither shocks nor does anything to improve road safety . People are more inclined to buy lottery tickets based on them , than to heed the message .
  5. Lies,lies and dam_n statistics.

Member 1 day and already so much insight ! wai2.gif

As for the touristnumbers, without going into GDP or other big numbers, I can guarantee you, that Thailand is full at the moment. We are turning away customers every day now, simply because we can't get staff enough, and we are talking staff who easily could make 15.-20000/month for at least the next couple of months. I guess that is a symptom of a country doing very well. I know it is the absolute peak right now and that it only lasts so long, but if those 2 months put food on the table for the rest of the year, who cares??

As for the barstoolstories here about the empty bars in Patts and Phuket, maybe the time is out for the bars with 2 hookers, footy on the telly and a unplayable pooltable? Time for the businessowners here to adjust the the new Asian reallity. We have used social media a lot, directed at Indians and in our case it worked. We hardly ever had any Indians through the door before, but this year they count for 15-20% of our customers. So instead of complaining about bad business, maybe it is time for some adjustment, if you want a share of the "new" money !

How long would one need to have been a member to be able to make such a sweeping statement , backed up with a guarantee , no less ,that " Thailand is full " then ??
  6. Hundreds (yes, actual hundreds without exaggeration) were caught paying 300k to cheat on the entrance exam only a few months ago.

    Thailand's finest! rolleyes.gifwhistling.gif

They were , however , allowed to re-sit .....for the appropriate fee !!!
  7. It's also just the lack of being logical while driving...many accidents could be avoided if people would keep at least 30 meters between each other.

Yesterday I had a few vans and buses drive at 5 meters from me...and I was going 110 km/h...

When buses or trucks sit on my bumper in heavy traffic I break a little, then speed up to make some room, if they continue to sit dangerously close I wait for a hill and slow to a complete stop to give them a few minutes to think about how to keep safe on the roads.

And you think that helps them to calm down ...I'd wager it has the opposite effect !
  8. Its not just Thailand.

Check out road deaths in Uk,so far over the festive season.

They have a stringent testing process in place.

I read an article that says 7 have died in the UK since Christmas Eve.

Official figures for just yesterday in Thailand stand at 32.

I reckon if you have millions screaming around on mopeds on main roads in the UK the road toll would also be a lot higher there. Would like to see breakdown of statistics - passenger car accidents in both countries, for example. Around 90% of the accidents in Thailand involve bikes (mostly) and pickup trucks.

More likely 90% of the accidents are a result of people driving motor vehicles in the same manner that they "learned " to ride their motorcycles !

    Ie ...no rules apply .

  9. I thought that Thailand had gun-control. How can shootings take place when only the military and the police are to have firearms in LOS? It is supposed to be safer that way, isn't it?

Maybe the gentlemen involved were military or police, or maybe gun laws are enforced just like any other law in LOS?

Silver Star go-go chain being Thai owned , i believe , and most likely affiliated to ,or at least with a "working relationship " with to the BIB ,would more than likely have staff with access to firearms and a certain immunity that goes with the business .
  10. Shouldn't be a problem ,have just done the same , normal procedures.....but they do like to try to coerce a "tip" from you !

Hope you won't become one of the many here who seem to encourage them to do so !

  11. Oh sigh.

Folks, CMK and Nisa are actually spot on. You may not agree and that's fine however I do this for a living in the airline sector and work very closely with the TAT, hoteliers in Thailand and all across Asia. What is reported is as good as it's going to get for any TB/CVB.

I have no issue with the data -+10%.
