I live in central Sukhumvit (Bangkok) and they cannot give me more than 3 megs AND that operates at lesser than desirable speeds during peak hours. Yet they can offer faster conections in Pattaya. hel_l Pattaya here I come
if I lived 500 meters away they can give 16 megs - go figure?

OOOooo thats a nice find. Thanks!
Takes a bit of trail and error on the tiles to get max resolution on the ouput file but the result is very good. And free as you said. I really like the multitude of maps available as well.

That is one option,
anything that you can think of that we can do ourselves?
Lets work together people!
Outsource it to me. Pay me 1000 baht for every tourist I can convince to come here.
I will do it for no cash! Just give me a) the right to own 1/2 Rai of land in Nakhon Nowhere and outlaw double pricing.

Do you have a Thai OS or an English OS? You can upload "custom maps" but not "birds eye service" with the Thai OS. They are very very different animals though. The custom map system is a pain IMHO

If you are going to have issues its more likely that they will be on the ones bought in Thailand with the Thai OS. This is especially relevant now that Garmin are increasing their services and the Thai units are not compatible with even the latest Garmin firmwares!

According to ESRI it will work if the unit has an English OS on it. If it has a Thai OS then it will not work. If you want to use Birds Eye Sat Images MAKE SURE you buy the GPS unit outside of Thailand.
I blew 27,000 grand on an Oregon before finding this out. Was mightily pissed, ripped off on the price then the thing wont work as per Garmins website. Web updater also does not work on the Thai OS models
