    Good stuff from Reddit...

Depends whether you agree with what is being said I guess......

A quick read suggests just a rehash of stuff posted in all the major tax threads over the last 18 months on here but crucially ignores Savings clause pre 1/1/24 and although one poster mentions DTAs I could not see any discussion....

    Plus this -

    • As foreigners, it's almost impossible to understand all of this, send the right documents/attachments to forms, and do this right. That's why it's highly recommended to talk with a Thai tax attorney.

Also one poster talks about contradictory statements from the tax advisers.......

I just tried this to no avail. I get into Microsoft using Skype details as you suggest but, no mention of Skype, dial pad, contacts .... nothing!

    Try this link

    https://calling.web.skype.com/

It takes you to a log in screen for your MSN Skype account - or should do. When I click on that link and provide my Skype log in details in takes me to my page showing credit and numbers called. This is on a pc not mobile.

If you cannot get in through there then there would appear to be a technical issue and you may have to go back to MSN to resolve.

I am aware of gated communities which have PEA meters for each home

I must admit I just assumed this was the norm as it is what our village has and others I visited in the past.

others have a private distribution system and bill the individual homes privately.

In this instance I wonder if legally they can 'pull the plug' if common fees are not paid?

    Internet provider is AIS.

If Windows try setting DNS in Adapter settings to something other than your ISP and flush the dns cache

cmd in run tun box then ipconfig /flushdns

I use Quad 9 and Cloudflare as a secondary but pick whatever DNS resolvers you want.

If that doesn't work go with a free vpn first and see if that works before forking out - Windscribe or Tunnel Bear have limited free options

Thanks to all respondents, but none of the suggestions work for me. Teams is cr*p!

I tried both my phone and laptop again and cannot see a dial pad, or my contacts, or do anything except use the voice (echo) test.

Have you tied to log into a Microsoft account with your Skype name and password as previously suggested?

Since I did this successfully only 10 days ago  I respectfully suggest that you haven't?

For decades never had such sites locked / refuse to open.

    Which provider?

If Ais then there is another thread on here about not being able to access more 'pedestrian'sites......

    Simple answer is VPN

No issue on True for one of the main sites you may be referring to.....

I've looked everywhere on the router admin panel, but can't find anywhere to specify fixed ip addresses.

Unless I am misunderstanding fixing your IP address is not going to change DNS site lookup. If you are using a pc/laptop have you tried specifying ia different dns rather than AIS's in the adaptor settings?

can offer a solution other than using a VPN?

Try the same and see if it helps.

So we will have to await a report from someone renewing their extension based on this to see when (if ever) it gets put in place.

However, be aware that Skipton should require that you provide a Thailand Tax ID. It is mandatory under the CRS (Common Reporting Standard), but there are some specific exemptions.

From what you say it sounds like you have a Skipton off-shore account and know this for a fact?

Can you please elucidate what the "specific exemptions" you  refer to are?

Anybody out there have a good VOIP app or software they can use on their PC?

If you have a read through the 'Skype replacement' threads there were quite a few options mentioned.

@ukrules from memory went with a specific sip phone/software and separate provider or similar.
