  1. I guess it like most things from the US, it is 99% hype, 1% substance, like McDonalds, Coke, WMD's and freedom. People like to "believe", they know these bikes are overpriced, badly built, vibrate and fall to bits, don't handle and are slow and cumbersome, which just leaves a lot of noise, but they are living the dream.

If you think about it, for those of us who have enough money to buy a car, a biggish bike is ridiculous, but there is this feeling of freedom that appeals to part of our psyche........no doubt the danger too.

So perhaps their attitude is a product of their living the American Dream, which clearly isn't real, just the REM's.

A mate of mine here who has 6 bikes, dreams of owning a Harley and he spends all his time polishing and no time riding.....

I used to spend more time working on my boat than fishing from it.

I used to spend more time pulling my Pontiac apart than driving it.

I loved every moment on both projects.

So what is your point ?

he has no point, he just spews stuff out of his ass and it ends up on his keyboard then comes out as a post.

I think he's starting to get the hang of making different usernames now too.

Makes me feel sorry for the British.

  3. Driving to Bangkok from Chiang Mai about a month ago was stopped at a check point along with several other cars. The cop comes up and says hehehehe speed limit in Thailand 120kph you go 134kph, I look away and say to my self heheheeh I was going 140kph. Ok what we have to do to take care. he says 100baht hehehehe I already had 200 in my pocket handed it to him and he hands my drivers licenses back and say hehehehehe speed limit in Thailand 120kph. I hit the gas and am gone, the little laff from him actually happened.

    hehehe thats speedo indicated.

    sorry, i had too giggle.gif

  4. Always good value at Gecko.

You can have ANY of their daily specials listed before 4pm, regardless of the day.

Yesterday I had Spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread 95 baht and a Coke Zero 20 baht, very good value.

They also have an extensive Thai menu and if you're into beer (which I'm not) I did see 3 large San Miguels for 179 Baht, dunno the prices of other beers.

Are they at the special prices or at regular prices? Thanks!

If before 4pm they are at the special prices.

Before 4 pm, well that rules out all evening meals.

no, you just have to go on the correct day to get the special price after 4pm.

  5. My wife is serious about those stamps, and insists that I ask for them if they are not forthcoming. (Embarrassing, but now the local "Seven" gives them to me automatically, maybe because they are afraid of her!) She was especially keen on the stamps that Tesco Lotus Express was giving out, because she wanted an entire set of those exquisite and tasteful Doraemon glasses. I'm so glad Tesco has dropped that promotion.

In the US in the 50's and 60's, S & H Green Stamps were a huge deal, as were Blue Chip stamps. One book got you a genuine Zippo lighter. All the gas stations and supermarkets gave those out. The greatest promo of all time was when Safeway gave out volumes of Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia. These sets were on proud display in many middle class homes.

    LOL..we got the Funk

    but it was at Randall's

  6. Good luck with Google translate too... I know Thai language is not supposed to be used, hope the mods leave this just as an example !

What the ad says in Thai

    "ถ้าสนใจโทรถามรายละเอียดเลยครับ รถสวยวิ่งน้อย เจ้าของขายเอง"

    What Google translate says

"If you do not ask for it. Car runs. Own."

The ad, btw, looks like a great deal ??

    http://www.dealfish.co.th/product-4121652/

    that ad says:

if you are interested call for information. Bike is pretty, used little...for sale by owner

all you have to know is the phone number and price...youd be surprised how many thai people can speak english, its taught in school.
