  1. Some American stye Chinese is great and some is terrible. I have to admit that I miss the good stuff. Some of that bright pink sweet and sour pork would hit the spot.

in 15 years in thailand, this place has come closet to american style chinese...they had a picture of something almost exactly like that on the menu. Meat is crusted in corn starch like back in the US.

i think this is 'The One'...lol

  2. Went to Shanghai-Lo off of Huay Kaew road in the Harbour shopping plaza between superhighway and canal road (across from northern farms)

anyway, this is the closest ive fond to American stye Chinese. Give it a shot if this is what your looking for. Didnt see any Kung Pao on the menu but the Cashew chicken and Hokkien style noodles were very close to what youd find back in the US. (they had 'Orange Chicken')

meat dishes were 120small-250big...double those prices for seafood dishes.

Theres a hotel behind Harbour, and i believe this restaurant caters to the chinese crowd from the hotel.

  3. i raced a ducati 795 down the super highway yesterday (he was tucked and i was tucked) on a cbr 250 with light mods...

he started hard, i pursued (didnt realize he wanted to race)...he kept looking back....surprisingly he could not get away, this went on from Jedyod intersection to next light. He started to pull away a little when he went into the underpass, but i caught back up on the upward slope.

on a longer road im sure he would have walked away.

a bit shocked. i thought it would be faster.

it is all about the rider especially if it comes to curves!

no one can suck that bad though ...555 laugh.png

i was at about 163 kph during the fastest part, then traffic came up. Removing the cbr 250 tail gave a big boost in acceleration - no more windscoop.

i swear this bike is getting faster with age.blink.png

  5. PAIR valves are also on carb bikes, they just inject air into the exhaust for cleaner emissions. Theyve been around for a while, but i dont know about 30 years.

They work on vacuum and usually get the vacuum from the intake manifold.

Never heard of it, but if was only for bikes, that's why. Is it for real, or are you merely diluting the dirty air with clean air? Don't really understand how it cleans.

Been looking at the weather forecast for the next few days and it don't look good, 38c (100f in old money) and I hate working in that sort of heat, think I'll spend the day in the pool instead, just an hour or so on the bike early morning before breakfast. "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun", well not this one.

it won't cause a misfire, but popping on the overrun.

AllenB wouldnt know the difference ;)

  6. What type of riding are you into ? ... moderate speed straight road rides OR fast as you can handle (safely) twisty roads?

Tourers are a handful in cnx, fast riders are harder to find. ;)

You may want to try hanging out at Euro diner (tourers) on ratchwithi road or at Riders corner ( a little faster motard people) at moonmuang corner.

Also between 530-600pm Thai locals go up Doi Suthep and congregate at the view/meeting point before wat doi suthep temple, these are riders into high speed though. Some days have more riders than others.

If you want to try your luck heading to the top, park at the 'Aboretum ' before the zoo and wait for bikes to start going up the mountain...99% of the riders will be Thai.

  7. check inside the sparkplug boot and see if there is a slit for a flathead screwdriver....some hondas (cbr 150-250 do) have a resistor inside the boot.

swap resistors if you got them and see if it still happens.

If your bike has PAIR valves, try plugging them up. On some bikes an aftermarket exhaust exhaust can cause misfire, remedy for the ER6N is to plug the PAIR.

  8. All the posters, particularly those outside the country, who are predicting doomsday when the Govt falls don't understand that Thailand has something that binds all Thai people together. And yes the reset button can be set and probably will be.

This will as has in the past and as usual amaze those such as CNN, BBC and the others who don't understand Thailand. And also probably anger those such as Thaksin and his immediate circle and the likes of mercenaries and opportunists such as Robert Amsterdam.

    That would be whiskey

  9. got to say as an aside.

Thai visa, it must be the only forum i contribute to where the posts, - from both sides I add - are far more better researched and written than the news items they are appended to.

Well done to all reds and yellows here. We do actually learn something some days.... but not from the Nation smile.png

Be great to see press reform in thailand and some real independent media. I hate all the red channels and never even look nowadays as UDD also insult our inteligence . But they obviously think they can win thais over as to Bluesky.

I liken this to the thai hotel adage. customers drop off, so they put up the prices, fewer customers come, prices up again.

Propagana is the same, we started off with a bit and it was discrete, the OP eds in both western media fell flat and were seriously critisised - I got 230 likes when I critisice op ed on BKK post.

So the propagana is increased, but at each stage it is resisted and ridiculed more, so you have a situation like today where they are in total panic and there are reports of tractors and people numbers that defy belief. We counting the tractors and easy to calculate you would need 100 people on each tractor for there to be 10,000 farmers. tens of thousands scream sutheps press. So at it's minimum value, tens of thousands has to be 20,000 farmers, so they are asking us to believe 200 farmers on each tractor.

Drones did their work well there and I bet we don't see them lined up in fours again anytime soon making it easy for us to count.

So now, the press are outed and they know no other way than the old thai way of more of the same, until it implodes.

you realize not all the farmers are on tractors right?

i know theyre farmers but that doesnt mean they have to all be driving tractors. Some probably even have a better car than yo do !

  10. my 3 hondas in the past did not have those sparkplugs

the gap for that plug is speced at 0.036" as you mentioned, but since its on gasohol.....its going to run hotter so maybe try a colder plug.

on the cbr 250 the stock plug (SIMR8A9) is an '8' which is 3mm shorter than a '9' plug (CR9EIX or CR9EGP))...from my experience on a cbr 150 in the past an '8' caused misfiring compared to a '9'.

  11. The farmers need the money ASAP. Why is the government still sitting on the case not doing anything?

Suthep used the farmers to sue the government. It was his strategy to use them. If he could get money, he should have given all the money to the farmers instead of setting up the legal action against the government. The farmers need money other than anything else now.

I am sure that the farmers want to sue the government but receiving the money is their first priority.

It would be interesting to see how Suthep will take it from here. The farmers are angry and some of the Reds are already start having their second thoughts about the government. But Suthep or Democrat need to show their respect to the farmers and take care of them financially.

Thaksin took care of the farmers well and this is the reason why there are many farmers who love Thaksin.

Can Suthep do the same way Thaksin took care of the farmers? I hope he can but not sure.

Politicians are greedy liars. Thaksin and Suthep are very much the same to me.

It does not matter who would be the next prime minister, the corruption will continue.

Thaksin gave the farmers 300 baht so he could steal a few billion...with the backing of their votes.

You can only steal so much until their is nothing left to steal, and thats whats happening now.

  12. the carb model 125 and 150 CDI's were not compatible (i realize yours is Fi, ECU) it would start but thats about it...ive sent a few to the UK in the past to see if they were compatible,no one ever got the cdi's to work.

the stator part numbers were different, so its quite possible the magnetic flywheel is also different, which would probably mean different timing.
