  1. How is Immigration surprise change in the rules a sign of my incompetence? I dispute your characterization that the change was always known to occur on the 31st. When last I read in the English paper, we are not allowed to quote, they were still considering it and most expected the change to occur in July. And we are talking while on a trip over a weekend, not a couple of days prior to my scheduled flight as you intimate Finally, my veracity has never been challenged on this forum so I don't much care whether you believe me or not. Truth be told your aggressive response to my contribution to the discussion is evidence that you missed the whole point of my response. It's the constantly changing of the rules that is a problem for continued tourism
  2. I don't mind that they changed the Visa Exempt but how they did it is once again a nail in the coffin of tourism to Thailand I left for Ho chi men city on Friday the 31st and was stamped out of the country on my Visa Exempt and not a word was said about the rule change. Came in to DMK Sunday and only received the 30 days. When I asked the supervisor about it she said I would have to pay an overstay fine for a couple of days and have overstay stamped in my passport since my departure to the US is on May 3rd. The stamp in my passport is the straw that broke my back and I don't think that I will be returning. After almost twenty years it's just no longer worth jumping through their hoops and my only recourse is to vote with my feet
  3. How come no one is complaining that if you make a mistake on the e application it costs you another $200 to correct your mistake. All you will get in information from them is to apply again
  4. It's already in effect Friday, the 31st I left for a weekend in Ho chi min city and left DMK and Immigration stamped me out and did not say a word about the rule change Arrived back on Sunday the 2nd and was only given 30 days and despite my outbound iternary showing return to the US on 3 May. When I asked for the supervisor, she told me that I would just have to pay for "overstay ". But what ticks me off is that I am going to be labeled an overstayer after almost 20 years of coming to Thailand without a blemish on my record. So you might as well just get a 30 day tourist visa, since Visa Exempt entries have lost their value I'm only in this mess because of the catch 22 with the insurance requirement for an O-A. My insurance company refuses to fill out the Immigration Medical Coverage form English but instead insists that their letter in Thai is sufficient. As you can imagine, rightfully so, Thai Immigration will only accept their form
  5. I obtained the first extension of my Visa Exempt entry from Jomtien and they didn't say a word about my staying in my foreign owned condo. But after my trip to Vientiane by air they fined me 1,600 Baht for failing to report "myself" within 24 hours to Immigration as the house master. Fined me when I went for another 30 day extension so once again Thai Immigration continues to be a lottery So be prepared for a possible fine and lecture on respecting the Thai Immigration laws if you are staying with relatives and they did not report you to the nearest Immigration Office or Police Station
  6. JAL, (Delta code share) from the US would not issue me a boarding pass until I showed a onward reservation out of Thailand within my 45 days Visa Exempt entry on the first of November 2022
  7. Will Chonburi Immigration issue a Certificate of Residency based upon proof of ownership ( Chanote) for my Pattaya Condo instead of a non immigrant visa ? My license expires in May and will be my 3rd 5 year renewal but I only have a Tourist visa due to the health insurance requirement for an OA . I could just use my US license for the 6 months that I am here but if memory serves me correctly you are only allowed to use a foreign license for 30 days
