You havnt stated it, but, I hope the visa application stated she is staying for 6 months if thats the intention ? Dont make the mistake of stating 3 months for example, and then thinking because the visa states 6 months thats what we'll do. She "may"come unstuck on arrival or later when next applying.
Just a word of caution.

If it helps them to believe, to feel they are helping in some way, who are we to judge or to interfere, live and let live, each to their own. Superstition is widely practiced in many forms throughout Thailand.

Get outside caterers etc in, like yuu would for a wedding, less hassle, no clearing up or washing up etc for you and the family.
Not that expensive and alot less stressful all around.

I, and I suspect many others, will read the OP, possibly a few more posts and then offer a comment, not many will read pages and pages of entries as they dont have the time, desire nor patience to do so and would prefer to just hit and run to the next item of interest.
If the topic is relatively new with say 1 page of comment then probably most will read.
If its an ongoing thread with 80 pages I suspect most will go to the last few entries.

I would guess Chinatown, that being the "gold center" for Bangkok.
Perhaps people in the Bangkok forum may know more?

How is it a false statement ?If someone or anyone refuses to return your passport you can always report it stolen and get another one
For safety sake its always wise to keep a digital copy of it too for visa details etc..
Its always an option.
That would be making a false statement, with all consequences.
Best is to go to the (tourist) police and/or inform your embassy if that has no results.
, if someone is holding your property without your permission and refuses to return it, it is then theft and thereby , stolen
Reporting it Lost , now that would be a false statement.

Legalities aside, I would say that like most things in Thailand, where there is no consistency, it would depend entirely on the Insurance company, the policy in force, the premium, whos involved, what happened, where it happened and how much money is involved.
Take any one or any combination of those, add a little "face" and who you speak to about it, a wild guess and you may get an idea but not a definitive answer as "this is thailand",

Again , just guessing, but wouldnt the existing passport be requested to be surrendered if their was an issue concerning travel?

Why are products generally sold on the street, in most cases, cheap, inferior, seconds, poor quality, copies, out of date, old stock, illegal or stolen.
If they were anything else they wouldnt be there, old addage, you get what you pay for ( in most cases).
I would be more concerned at whats actually in it, what chemicals etc, from the street it could be anything!

Will credit card debt prevent entry to Thailand ?
No, but lack of bowel control at immigration could be highly embarrasing.

The one my wife always comes out with that makes me smile is:
"Honey I make steak again!" She means, she made a mistake. Guaranteed to make me grin !

Thought tranqualizer type guns were one shot deals, if he had just shot at the dog the gun was probably discharged and useless.
May be wrong, but then I wouldnt have got involved anyway and think you did the right thing.

Yes, I inderstand that, thats a standard minimum issue, but what did she state as her duration of stay? If that was also 6 months then no worries, but if she stated 3 on the application (example) and stays longer it could be a problem, that was the point I was trying to make,
