  2. There is a section in the "pinned" topics of the Travel forum, "Trip reports" that may be of interest.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/875242-trip-reports-outside-of-thailand/

There are also others that cover most of what you have mentioned. The forum description does state:

Thailand travel, world travel. Spas, resorts, hotels, flights, tours, car rentals. Get advice on everything from booking flights, to choosing a tour guide.

There's more accumulated travel knowledge among our members than at most travel agencies.

  3. I think what people need to understand and appreciate, that what happens/happened to one person in one particular place, is not likely to happen everywhere to everyone.

In Thailand, you could go to the same place an hour later see someone different and have an entirely different experience (worse or better).

That's just how life is/can be, here.

It doesnt just apply to Banking either, it applies to almost everything. smile.png

  4. Nice photography VF, and pretty much in line with what I see daily. What I prefer to call the "real" Thailand and not the hustle and bustle of the city and well trodden tourist paths that so many "think" is what Thailand is.

Cities etc, for me are an occasional requirement, not a necessity and somewhere I prefer to dip in and out of, and return to the quiet and peaceful "rural" surroundings.

But, as they say "up to you" and one man's food is another's poison etc.

  5. As has been said many times "its not what you are looking at, its what you choose to see" (or how you choose to interpret).

Without those other required communication factors of body language, facial expression and tone, its surprising how much is "guesswork" .

In a real life situation, body language and tone can tell much more than the actual words spoken.

When its words on a page, with none of the above, what's said is not necessarily what's perceived.

  6. It is also worth noting that a "knee jerk reaction" and tantrum of closing an account "could" lead to severe difficulties for some people, as some banks are now insisting on a "work permit" to open a new account.

As with many things Thai there is rarely consistency, but my advice, would be to check you can actually open another account somewhere BEFORE you close an existing one or you could end up with no account at all.

  7. Personally I think you are leaving yourself wide-open by attempting this from another country.

The best method would be to visit and at least get an impression of who and what you are dealing with, and you would be on hand for results (if any) to follow up on.

The other side of the world is not a good way to deal with any Thai organisation/person etc (IMHO) and unless you speak good Thai it could quickly become a money pit with lots of promises and little else.

I dont think this is the best way forward.

I wish you good luck with your search.
