Thanks, I now got the status, and this is what it shows. Dos that mean I need to send them my passport details, which I assume I gave them already?

    image.png.ffed913c266eec32ffe9168d60fe3a62.png

they want passport from first page till actual pages which are used including signing them.
Strange, I never had to provide such information, but different offices have different rules.

  2. หน้าหลัก | กรมสรรพากร : ยื่นแบบผ่านอินเทอร์เน็ต (rd.go.th)

On this website you can check your status (Second last button on the top).

Normaly at least here in Bangkok at my place the refund is done in about 5-6 days if all documents are in order and you not need to add additional documents.

But my refund is transferred directly to my bank account (KTB)

With all respect to your life and living style it very makes sense that IO didnt accept your immigrant extension. For the IO it doesnt make sense that an immigrant is/can live in a hotel for the rest of his retirement life instead of can rent a house or condo with more cheaper rent or else.

I know 2 older woman, they life in a hotel since many years. And they don't want change to a condo or a house!

And especially in the beginning I think makes even more sense, as to check out where you probably want to settle down for a longer period. As someone else already mentioned. If you book a hotel for longer period more than 1 month, they can give you really good deals.

@RB7829Maybe you need to fill out a special form, which the hotels states that you will stay there long term...

  4. There are many very good buffets available in Bangkok. But it depends you want seafood or international, and of course also the price range.

Goji at the Marriott Marguis they have a really huge selection of many different styles of food, but it's also more expensive.

At the end it depends on the price and what dishes you see as a must have...

If I may, I would like some advice on another topic. My wife obtained her British citizenship last year so she is now a dual national. We are going to the UK next month for a quick visit and although I am aware of the need to use her Thai passport for leaving and entering Thailand (and UK passport for England) my wife has posed an interesting question: when departing Thailand previously she has always had to produce her official "permission to enter" UK documents. Now of course she doesn't need these and she is afraid that if she is forced to show her UK passport the airport staff will insist on stamping her out on her UK passport, causing problems when we return. How have others dealt with this scenario? Thanks again.

At check-in she has to show her British passport to prove she is allowed to enter the UK (and the passport she used to book the flight with). At Immigration, she has to show her Thai passport or use the electric gate (for Thais).

Same when flying back from UK to Thailand. She has to show her Thai passport and the Passport which used to book the flight.

There is never a problem as long she always use the correct passport for the correct place.

I heard they were only 6 months valid. So I shall need a normal passport to travel back anyway (6-month rule, enforceable by airlines if not by Thailand). The question is whether a visa stamp transferred on the emergency passport is any good when I come back. If not I get 30 days and take it from there. Or better still, do the LTR, for which I qualify. Do the LTR online from Europe and come to collect it in October, that would be ideal.

the 6 moths is not valid if you fly direct home to your passport country!

  7. I think if your immigration is easy to reach for you, then single re-entry is better when you leave country less than 4 times per year.
I buy most multi re-entry, because I don't want to go to Immigration of Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok) as you are always losing almost half a day with traffic and everything. So even I leave country only 2 times per year, it's worth to buy at extension right away the multi re-entry for me.

When doing extension, I know about how many times I want to leave (more or less). Could of course be more (or in case of year 2020 much less).

  8. Use the existing Router, and configure it "Bridge mode" or if not possible use the DMZ feature, which should be available on most routers to send all Incoming traffic to your "better" router, to handle everything there.

Thank you everyone for your replies. In spite of the Retirement Visa having fewer documents, we'll carry on with the Marriage Visa for Year 40. Leaving 800,000 Baht in an account earning so little interest is silly, in my opinion. The 400,000 Baht difference is better off being in gold thanks to the mess Joe Biden has created. Besides, the additional documentation isn't onerous, and we'd still have to travel the 130 kms. to Immigration there and back twice anyway. At the old office the return journey was 150 kms.

You can put your 800'000 in a time deposit, which will give about 1.5% interest at the moment. It's still not a very high interest, but at least not that bad, as in a saving account. Check with your Immigration office which they accept. But most should accept Time deposit accounts (As you can take out your money at any time, maybe with loss of interest).

  10. I had exactly the same problem. As the Laptop was still under warranty, Microsoft shipped a new one to my Thai address. I still have the old one with the broken battery. Everything was free of charge.

I needed a few phone calls and some email conversation with Microsoft, including pictures of the damaged laptop. But I was very surprised how easy and smooth everything went on.

    April thailand and Cigna

I would not take the Thailand one of April. Better use the International.

About pacific cross (increase of premiums after claim) was the main reason I not chosen that one.

As they can increase premiums 20% after a bigger claim. And I not found information, if this increase can happen only once or multiple times.

I was told foreigners shouldn't file online. Also, the Form 90 is completely in English. And what do you do with required supporting documents such as the bank paper statements? Can you access online versions of the forms?

I scan my paper documents from the bank and upload them as PDFs at the end.

I have now done online tax returns for 4 years.

  14. You don't need to travel to the tax office.

It can be filled out online completely.

The only downside it's in Thai, and the first time you need probably some help (Even some tax office will help).

But when you have done it one time, the next year you can use your old version to check what you have to click. it's done in about 10 minutes online. if you fluent in reading Thai even much faster.

Go alone to Pattaya for a week or twos holiday.

No funding for the misses and home while you're away.

Just the threat of that removed my MiL from our family home.

For falang respect especially when it comes to their funding ! This suggesting to go alone to Pattaya has worked for me in the past!

    Good idea!

This will not work. Maybe even backfire.

I would first try to understand what exactly happened! why Brother-in-law start the fire in the first place?
