  1. I think if your immigration is easy to reach for you, then single re-entry is better when you leave country less than 4 times per year.
I buy most multi re-entry, because I don't want to go to Immigration of Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok) as you are always losing almost half a day with traffic and everything. So even I leave country only 2 times per year, it's worth to buy at extension right away the multi re-entry for me.

When doing extension, I know about how many times I want to leave (more or less). Could of course be more (or in case of year 2020 much less).

  2. Use the existing Router, and configure it "Bridge mode" or if not possible use the DMZ feature, which should be available on most routers to send all Incoming traffic to your "better" router, to handle everything there.

Thank you everyone for your replies. In spite of the Retirement Visa having fewer documents, we'll carry on with the Marriage Visa for Year 40. Leaving 800,000 Baht in an account earning so little interest is silly, in my opinion. The 400,000 Baht difference is better off being in gold thanks to the mess Joe Biden has created. Besides, the additional documentation isn't onerous, and we'd still have to travel the 130 kms. to Immigration there and back twice anyway. At the old office the return journey was 150 kms.

You can put your 800'000 in a time deposit, which will give about 1.5% interest at the moment. It's still not a very high interest, but at least not that bad, as in a saving account. Check with your Immigration office which they accept. But most should accept Time deposit accounts (As you can take out your money at any time, maybe with loss of interest).

  4. I had exactly the same problem. As the Laptop was still under warranty, Microsoft shipped a new one to my Thai address. I still have the old one with the broken battery. Everything was free of charge.

I needed a few phone calls and some email conversation with Microsoft, including pictures of the damaged laptop. But I was very surprised how easy and smooth everything went on.

    April thailand and Cigna

I would not take the Thailand one of April. Better use the International.

About pacific cross (increase of premiums after claim) was the main reason I not chosen that one.

As they can increase premiums 20% after a bigger claim. And I not found information, if this increase can happen only once or multiple times.

I was told foreigners shouldn't file online. Also, the Form 90 is completely in English. And what do you do with required supporting documents such as the bank paper statements? Can you access online versions of the forms?

I scan my paper documents from the bank and upload them as PDFs at the end.

I have now done online tax returns for 4 years.

  8. You don't need to travel to the tax office.

It can be filled out online completely.

The only downside it's in Thai, and the first time you need probably some help (Even some tax office will help).

But when you have done it one time, the next year you can use your old version to check what you have to click. it's done in about 10 minutes online. if you fluent in reading Thai even much faster.

Go alone to Pattaya for a week or twos holiday.

No funding for the misses and home while you're away.

Just the threat of that removed my MiL from our family home.

Money Vs parents/siblings = money wins every time.

For falang respect especially when it comes to their funding ! This suggesting to go alone to Pattaya has worked for me in the past!

    Good idea!

This will not work. Maybe even backfire.

I would first try to understand what exactly happened! why Brother-in-law start the fire in the first place?

  10. From the App K-Bank I like most. Krungthai is good when you have to pay tickets (Fines) or when you receive tax-returns.

Bangkok bank I personally not like (not mean a bad bank).

I have Omsin (GSB), L&H and Citibank (which will soon UOB) which are OK. But their app are not that good as the other 2.

At the end I think it most depends on the branch you use and what person you become when you are at the bank branch.
I mostly use branches in shopping centers, as this are open on weekends as well.

I just contacted Cigna Insurance for a quote but low and behold they called me back and explained that as my wifey was Thai she could not hold a Cigna policy insuring her in Thailand.

Yes, your Thai need to have additional another passport, or have to be included in your cigna policy, then It would work.

PS: But the bounty idea looks appealing - there're so many farangs willing to do exactly this kind of "volunteering job" )

If you give 500 baht per found person, I think many Thais would be happy to do the Job. The first few months, this would be a nice earner. Foreigners couldn't do the Job... Thai reserved earner...

Or those lead by the nose by a Thai girl.

I have asked this question before, who has ever aspired to retiring to rural Thailand before coming to Thailand and meeting a Thai lady?

    It really is laughable.

Actually, I have a friend, who really want to come to Thailand and not like tourist areas or big cities... He is looking into some less populated areas. Not everybody is the same of what they desire. For me, it would be a nightmare to be in a location like that for more than a few days. But luckily different people have different needs.

Strange, back in my home country I lived in a rural area, and never wanted to live in a bigger city. But here it's the opposite!

Flights to and from Thailand are, indeed, a requirement. It is obviously pointless to turn up and complain about this. That said, there are people who like to visit multiple countries in South East Asia, travelling overland. It is unfortunate that they are unable to get tourist visas when planning to do so, especially if their nationality does not allow visa exempt entry.

Some of them arrange their tourist visas in advanced, while they still are in their home country.

    What? To enter Thailand?

I thought I recently read they were dropping every rule related to covid 19 on entry?

That rule was active only a few hours. But still confused many. Especially for people who already booked their flight.

It was initially created because of the Chinese travelers, but because a country complained about discrimination, they then changed it for all travelers.... I think on the day of starting this rule, they canceled it again.

Unfortunately, not after many were denied boarding in some foreign countries!!!

Should add that having the agent do all reporting, paperwork prep etc is one of the 'perks' of the visa, and a bit of a bummer if that won't be the case if I am on Samui.

I think they 90 day reporting is only available on some better foreign spots (Bangkok, Phuket,...)
I think it was written in the Elite website at which locations this service is included...

There is also a possible issue of receiving an OTP abroad. My UK bank has recently (it only took them 10 years) brought in the ability to send an OTP to my Thai number. And my Philippines bank the same. I'm not sure how a Thai OTP works abroad. There have been lengthy discussions in this forum on this topic. Can't remember what the consensus was.

Never had a problem receiving an OTP abroad.

Me too, receiving SMS outside Thailand (free, only activate roaming) is no problem. But be sure you deactivate the Data-Roaming Option.

When outside I still become all the Thai SMS, which I would become while in Thailand.
