Oh NO, another one with insufficient health care and funds.

But hey, why not go for other people's money?

He came to Thailand for retirement? Could have saved 300£/month easily.

This would be now enough (40.000£ probably) to take a fly wherever he wants.

No need for any donation at all.

I had and still have medical insurance B4,000,000 cover. I was told by the insurance company that they pay the hospital directly. After 3 days in hospital the bill was B25,000. Hospital said the insurance has refused to pay. My wife called the company and asked why? They said we have to pay first and claim it back.  we had the money to pay. so we did. put a claim in, took 3 months to get B23,000 back. We had to pay B2,000 for the service. Never trust a Thai insurance company. The sole purpose of having medical insurance is if there is a medical emergency, the funds are there to cover it.

Fair enough. But did they also tell you how the bank will distinguish between 'retirement pensions' and other transfers, before withholding tax?

This I have just found on a translantion about pensions with a double tax treaty.

    1. It’s a pension you earned before 2024. Keep your pension record well just in case the Revenue Department ask for it.
    2. There’s a double taxation agreement between Thailand and your country stating that the pension, mainly from the government, is subject to tax exclusion.
    3. It’s a pension that falls under non-accessible income, such as payments from the US Social Security.

On the other hand, if it’s a pension from a private company, such as through an investment, it’s likely that you need to pay tax on that.

It has been my opinion from the beginning that it will work out like this... - Sorry, Thailand, under these circumstances, no transfers, and no retirement in Thailand by yours truly. Also, using international credit cards only when absolutely necessary. The Thai taxman's gains will be wayyy lower than the financial loss for the Thai economy. 😉

I have been told TWICE by my local tax revenue office. NO TAX ON RETIREMENT PENSION.

Foreigners  CAN NOT own land in Thailand.

Old and tired debate.  The result ends up the same.  Foreigners CAN NOT own land in Thailand.

They can only Lease it. 30 years, 30 years, 30 years totalling 90 years. You buy the house on one contract and lease the land on another contract. any other way is not legal.

Just Thai blaming based on no knowledge.

This flight just returned to the UK with hydraulic issues when it was just 300 miles from the coast of N America. Standard preceedure to return to home base if possible even though it is often more expensive to do so.

Jesus. This was a month ago. Did you have sleepless nights over this?🤪

As I've commented before, this should be for arriving passengers.

If people can't go a day without consuming  alcohol, they need to seek help. Buddhist religion, don't like it go to spain, they have restricted tourist to 6 drinks in one 24 hour period. Don't know how they intend to enforce that.🤪🤪

Yes indeed, Thailand, well, TAT and the Government only think about $$$$

For the amount of tourist that visit Thailand every month, year. I would say it is nothing more than what happens in Spain, France, England in a year. 194 foreigners arrested in 2024, out of how many millions entered in that year?

Because 90% of people on here have the same anti-Thai prejudice as you do.

You still haven't answered why MONEY was the issue when their decision undoubtedly cost them much much more than landing at Changi would have done. I look forward to you explanation because no doubt you have thought it through. None of your 90%-ers have answered the question, they all just parrot the same cliche.

Well why else would you turn round a damaged aircraft just as you were going to land and return

, putting lives at risk, back to your departure airport  and land there, quite safely. then transfer all the passengers onto another plane to fly back to Singapore?? Because it obviously worked out cheaper.. The plane would have been grounded, repairs would have had to be paid for plus the storing of the aircraft and then a complete saty check before it would be released back to Thai Airways.

    Typical moronic anti-Thai AN reply.

How much do you think it cost them in fuel to fly all the way back? How much do you think it cost them to reorganise all those people at the airport, give them food and drink, and then how much money to organise another plane to take them all to Singapore a few hours later?

    Idiotic.

It wasn't an emergency situation, so it is pretty standard to return to your home airport where things can be taken care of more easily as you have maintenance workers, an inventory of parts for your specific aircraft - especially as their home airport was less than two hours away.

But yeah, money. I guess you are one of those who just spouts "money", "greed", or "money number one" randomly in threads without engaging your brain.

My, my. To get so upset over a word. If you look at the other comments, 90% agree with me. MONEY! Ha!

You mean to say, that all these Thai people, in their thousands, who we see buying food, fruits, etc at the small roadside vendors are also paying 15baht for each transaction?

I've never used QR payment in TH, so I don't know.

Most apps like Line, Grab, Panda, and others  take a percentage from the seller and charge the user a percentage for using the app.

Thailand is just tourist unfriendly, partly caused by outdated laws. There should be a revision of several laws just to make it matching with era we live in and not how it was 50-75 years back..

The amount of papers needed for a workpermit is terrible and the process is taking a long time...Why not make things easier? just by using a good computer system

This current escalation was set off by the Israelis rampaging and vandalizing the Pai hospital.
Thai businesses have put up signs banning Israelis from entering.

The police announced they were going to round up foreigners breaking the laws but this band stupidly thought they would continue despite the warnings.

The  police showed more tolerance to the Irishman than they did to the Israelis and to Matheus who has an Israeli partner.
Local social media and mainstream media is quite opening is discussing how the locals are annoyed by the behavior of the Israelis, so no surprise they were targeted.

I am pleased that the Thais are not painting all foreigners with the same brush for the behavior of a certain group and are focusing on the trouble makers and not dragging us all down with them.

As regards to Brian. I think the B120,000 " bail money" could have something to do with the RTP tolerance towards him. Tea Eye Tea.😉
