Yes, well its hardly unexpected as its happening everywhere else in the world. Omicron is not harmless because it spreads much easier and forces isolation on the work force in large numbers. The only difference in Thailand is possibly that the medical profession possibly actually get tested (assumed). My daughter just had it for nearly 3 weeks and she is young and fit. It has left her with a hacking cough and she is now obout to go back to work. Dont worry though if you can't have an urgent medical procedure a nut in Thailand has it all under control ????

There is a global inflation issue that will effect everything and not just eggs, Governments need to acknowledge that for the worlds poor its going to be a tough few years and there will be a lot of unrest and protests as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Single points of failure like the semi conductor chips and the ship blocking the canal just magnify how fragile the world has become under globalisation when a country can't produce its own goods enough to supply its own population. Yep, you can surely put this down to extremely poor press reporting. They were just damned lazy in their attempts to over dramatise the events and should have their press cards removed. Where was "absconded", "man hunt", "police mobilisation", "dirty covid spreaders". Im not a journalist but I could have sensationalised this rather unnewsworthy incident 10 times better than their lethargic attempts. ????

My daughter (in UK) didn't feel well and tested herself with a flow test every day for a week, all negative. A pcr test then indicated a positive. I have heard that flow tests dont detect omicron and this would seem to be the case. You can now throw your arms in the air, panic, shout and run about, or just carry on as normal (the new normal) and cross your fingers. BTW she had received 3 Pfizer and has had symptoms like a mild to medium flu, touch wood.... ????????????

The UK news outlets are this morning reporting the following: England 40% less likelihood of being hospitalised, Scotland 65% less. They still don't know yet if its because Omicron is a weaker strain or because of the high vaccination rate. 9 out of 10 of those hospitalised or in ICU are unvaccinated. As of last night 30m had received their boosters. With 6m still unvaccinated, when they have either died or recovered we will be over the worst. To state publicly that you have a virus under control is an incredibly stupid thing to do, its a pity that he doesn't end his sentence with....I will stake my job on it.. ...stay healthy everyone.

I can't disagree with you on this, the BBC are one of the worst, but they are all at it. It seems that news reporting now primarily has become news creation whereby substance is replaced by the need to create mass hysteria with facts and reality deemed unnecessary. True enough about the vaccine take up, but lets face it this will still be pretty much the same when more get vaccinated, and I don't know the figures but it must be pretty high here now % wise. To be fair I doubt that anybody knows and most likely they just guess the numbers in Thailand. It wasn't particularly surprising that for all their preposterous beaurocracy they couldn't actually locate a few Africans and their vaccination records are probably as well organised as a mad old ladies poop. Thats an easy one to answer - higher vaccine take up. Currently stuck in UK, but received my booster on 29th November and although I like going to Thailand I'm in no particular hurry to go anywhere at the moment, especially not to a complete fluster cluck. Maybe the world will never be as global as it was but who really cares. Im looking at a nice Hymer and if I commit that will be the next 4 years sorted and my only concern will be how to travel around Europe without going through France ????????????
