  3. 4 posts removed as they added nothing to the topic and intent on trading insults.

Well i have just about tried every place in Chiang Mai for a cork type notice board with no luck. I guess they are not in Thailand ?

OFFICE DEPOT - ground floor of Panthip Plaza have cork boards. I was in there today and saw several different types, some reversible white one side, cork the other.

I have to say a very big thank you for that as i have looked every where for one. Will go and get one today. Many Thanks.Rob.
  4. I have never known of an Aussie meat pie with an egg inside

Same here although one of the best pies i've tasted came from a small pie shop just up the hill from the Pialba caravan park in Qld. The guy has won many pie awards around Oz.

His Breakfast Pie is fantastic. The filling looks like a standard pie until you bite into it. The flavours of a full breakfast with bacon, egg yoke and sausage ooze out with each bite. I'm drooling as I type.

wow a breakfast pie sounds like that's worth a try for next weeks pie day.

  7. Grass fed is tough because you are eating a stronger animal. You want tender? then eat "aged" beef, meat that has begun to decompose, bah.gif that will soften it up. I like tough meat, I slice it thin or cook it for a long time. as in stew.

Makro have some import beef but no cheap but good quality and they have local beef ummm not so good.pay the extra and smile.

  9. Don't know the name of the stationary store on Thai Pae road.

But if you are coming from Changklan the road the night Bazaar is on heading to Thai Pae Gate it is on the right hand side of the road down about 200 feet. It has big awnings out front. I know they had big white note boards you could hang on the wall. Did not look around that munch.

not sure if your directions are better than your spelling but i thought you were referring to DK books, just on the moat to left out of Le crow, they have these boards at the back in the stationary area.

    also they sell in makro

also they sell in B2S the stationary shop in KSK and airport plaza at the top

Tried makro and kad suen kaew but only white boards,Will try Dk tomorrow.Cheers
  10. If one wants good quality meat in Thai then its possible at a price just the same as the rest of the world,Quality meats have never been cheap.you get what you pay for. We have to pay premium price for our meats for the best quality cuts and we think its worth every Thai Baht.

  11. I have been looking for a place to get a good Sunday roast after trying several establishments in my opinion The Pub cannot be beaten, the meal at Archers was cold and the meat tough. I have also tried a couple of places in town, at the moment nothing touches the pub!

But always willing to try other recommendations.

In the pub they roast the meat on very low heat over night and make gravy from the meat stock. Excellent dinner. Gekko garden is quite good also but buffet 200Baht,To be fair i have not tried some of the hotels yet but here good reports on holiday inn.

  12. Pie

By LAURA MAYER Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008

They're simple, they're American and come Thanksgiving, everybody saves room for them. But the pies we know today are a fairly recent addition to a history that goes back as long as mankind has had dough to bake into a crust and stuff to put inside it. In medieval England, they were called pyes, and instead of being predominantly sweet, they were most often filled with meat — beef, lamb, wild duck, magpie pigeon — spiced with pepper, currants or dates. Historians trace pie's initial origins to the Greeks, who are thought to be the originators of the pastry shell, which they made by combining water and flour...

  13. Had a trial run today on the Aussie Ned Kelly Pie and i loved it,But one thing does it have to have the egg inside or not ?

I guess softgeorge will be along ASAP to give you feedback on your creation.

Oh sorry were you waiting for me? Glad S.K liked the pie. Maybe he can answer his own question, "Would it still be a Ned Kelly without the egg?" Maybe it would just be mince with cheese. Would it be as firm, that is would the cheese be enough to strengthen it? I suggest you leave the egg in it.

Ok it will have the egg and plenty of cheddar cheese on the top.i have to say after the 4 i had eaten today were really good and the nutmeg is a nice touch to the taste. So i guess it should keep its name,Ned Kelly Pie. I rate it 10/10

  14. thanks to all who replied and pmed me about the burger. appreciate that!smile.png

anyway i had the shepherd piethumbsup.gif was expecting the typical kind of frozen pie but was glad that it was not

Try the Aussie beef Cottage pie in Rimping its the same spec as the Lamb Shepherds pie but in Beef, it is excellent also. All the microwave meals are home made.great when you have one of those days when you don't want to cook.and not over priced.

Do you sell actual bacon? I mean the Aussie/English style bacon and not the American Style. Sorry if this appears American Bashing, it is not my intention just looking for some real bacon and not the stringy American style. Hope the pics show the difference.

Hi and yes we do have both types of bacon and bot dry cured for great taste,We do smoked and non smoked at the same price and we only sell lean bacon with out lots of unhealthy fat. Cheaper to buy direct and then we can slice in the fron of you the thickness you require. Rob.

Again I appoligise if this has offended my American friends.
