Last year I successfully applied and was granted a one-year marriage visa. I was required to return in a month for the official stamp. It says I must return on that date one month later. What if I'm out of the country and can't return on that specific date? Can I get a multi-entry permit during that 30-day waiting period? Thank you for any help

Stainless Steel Benches in Lumpini Park Raise Safety Concerns
Pinot replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
They're beautiful and functional. The fact that they're unusable probably has to be in the mix. What a conundrum! The fact that they're unuseable would probably extend their functional lives. Does anybody ever think of that? Centuries. Just saying... -

Thai Tourism Revenue to Hit 3 Trillion Baht, Falls Short of Goal

This obsession with numbers gets us over tourism. Over tourism is only given lip service. We have to live with it. Let me count the ways I hate those liars at TAT. -
Rocky start for Thailand’s latest alcohol tax reform

Spoke to a wine rep the other day and she pointed out that the stock now selling is still at the old cost. You won't see any price cuts till new stock shows up. Give it a couple of months and it will come down for competitive reasons. -

Change from reirement to marriage visa
Pinot replied to GregBow's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would wait till I've been granted the new marriage visa. Don't be caught without the money in the bank from the regular retirement visa. The process isn't a slam dunk. There were several times during the process when I thought of throwing in the towel with frustration. Thanks for that brilliant input. -

Thai Airways resolves seating dispute following passenger complaint
Pinot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thai Airways still owes me 45k from canceled flights during covid. My travel vouchers are expiring in 24. What's the chances I get anything out of them? They said they were going to pay. Communication about the status of this with the airline is useless. I can just use what they owe me and fly somewhere...till the end of the year. -
Chinese airlines cancel flights to Thailand as demand drops

We're not getting 15 million Chinese wandering obliviously? -
Thank you. That was what I asked. (sighs) Laughs, this got pretty funny. Some people... This was Phuket which is always harder and more complicated. At the same time I was doing the marriage visa thing, I also had a new passport I had to get the stamps switched to and a 90 day report was due. This was a three day highly frustrating process. Partially my fault because the requirement checklist was from the previous year and it had gotten increasingly onerous. My wife did 95% of the talking. I would have thrown in the towel early if it hadn't been for her. We did it. Or at least we think we did. We pick up the approval tomorrow or whatever it is.

Getting a retirement visa is a piece of cake compared to that terrible marriage visa experience. We did it in the end, but that was ridiculous. Two complete sets of paperwork? Ridiculous requirements for multiple pics of us in our home? I'm surprised they didn't want pics of us in bed. Just endless paperwork hoops they make you jump through. My question is what happens next year? Does this get any easier in the second year? Will they require everything all over again? Thanks.

Two cases of new COVID Omicron sub-variant reported in Thailand

I proudly got my 5th shot a couple of weeks ago. Keep your shots up to date to minimize the effects of Covid. Friend of mine had a very bad case of covid that lasted two weeks. It's still around and can kill you.- 172 replies

Thai tourism faces strain from sluggish Chinese, Japanese economies
Pinot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
We're spending September in Samui with the better weather here in the Gulf than Phuket. We took a week to get here through Koh Lanta, Nakon Si Tamarak and Khanom Beach. We were the only ones in two of the hotels. Restaurants are empty. I get it's low season but Ko Samui is less than half full. Last year no one was here but I'm surprised that there are so few tourists around. How they going to reach their 30 million tourists goals? -
Feasibility Study Expedited for Government Spaceport Project

Traffic safety: Ten main traffic laws enforced over long public holiday
Pinot replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The BIB are not equipped or trained for traffic law enforcement and that will not be changing any time soon. Culturally, the police have little respect. Half the people don't even have driver's licenses. If a license is suspended the person will continue to drivewith only small fines. Children regularly drive and drive dangerously fast. Between the police not enforcing laws and the people not caring about the laws, you get the most dangerous place to drive in the world. Nothing is going to change. TIT. -
I was in the same situation. They gave me a 10 month extension instead of a year, to when the passport was to expire. Unless someone advises differently, my plan is to wait on the transfer till when I need to get the Visa renewed in October. In other words, I don't think I have to run down to Immigration and get this transferred over now. I'll bring in both passports and get it all done at the same time.
