bottom line is never invest in gold trinkets for investments..Gold bar is the only way in Thailand and it is pretty straight forward...only a few shops will try to rip you off for the cost of the cert stamp on the Gold (usually 100baht per 1 baht weight , but I have been quoted up to 500 baht, needless to say I declined their offer)

I have found BKK Gold shops are pretty much standard, provincial will try to put anything up to 5% on top of the purchase price or up to 8% commission on re-sale...both a rip off ..when it is only a 100baht spread

Got to agree Fly to/from Surat and rent a car at the airport, I think Avis now have a desk there at the airport before it was in Surat town

Gasoline Bkk- Donsak will cost min around 4,000 baht each way (that is in a jazz etc) cant remember exactly but I do remember filling up 3 times

FYI: if your tank is low fill up at the Gas station just before the ferry as Gasoline on Samui is more expensive some places 5 baht a ltr more...not much i know but it all adds to the costs.

Do they EVER have street cleaners clean anywhere as there is trash, broken bottles,bits of trees & plastic everywhere i walked; footpaths are in a terrible state some very wide but covered in weeds and holes can be 2 feet long and almost a foot deep in places in fact the resort looks like a tip with many business for sale or empty units especially along the main beach road!!!

Needless to say I wont waste my time or money going back there it is the worst place in Thailand i have ever visited & dont get me started on the rip-off prices in bars/restaurants the place is a complete joke

More and More Airlines require the debit/credit card to be shown at check-in; in fact many airlines show a banner stating this before entering payment details into the website to purchase e-tickets

Thai have asked for my card at check-in on every flight over the past year, budget airlines no idea I dont use them any more, as their full service is slapdash so most prob you could use anyone's details to buy your ticket as long as it clears
