  1. Well all i can say is the other Country's the retired expats poled live in must be complete #hit holes..as Thailand is far from brilliant; I guess the poled expats here were questioned at the entrance to a Birthday party with 20 baht drinks all night in A-gogo In Pattaya and on their first 3 months of retirement here.

Anyone who believes these Banking PR stunts need to get out more, sorry if this upsets some people but I lost my rose tinted glasses in Thailand a couple of decades ago..i am only here to make money nothing else.

  2. This story smells fishy. Why would anyone exchange their cash at a travel agency instead of a bank? Why would you bring US Dollars to Thailand instead of Thai Baht? It just doesn't make sense...

Do you think the guy could buy Thai Bath in S.A.?????????

What's a Thai Bath? I usually only see showers! biggrin.gif I use an ATM card where ever I have traveled without a problem. You get a higher exchange rate usually than cash and you won't end up in jail like this guy.

Obviously you are not so educated on SA (South African) Finance and banking rules and regulations ...better not to comment or make idiotic statements until you are. like many on this forum they Know absolutely nothing about anything they comment on but still do it...

  3. But Thirachai also expressed hope that the turbulence would be short-term, and that Thailand would not be badly affected if world leaders can come up with effective measures.

:cheesy: Now that is Funny and HOPE being the only thing Thailand can do, as many Europeans Know the game is up;China is feeling the drop in orders already

About time the Baht got whacked as all other Currency's have been weaken far too much

You must have been at the top of your class… whistling.gif

I was actually; now whats your problem> or just another wisears% with nothing constructive to ad?

Anyone who believes the baht is not going to be hit is a complete fool...or they have too much money locked into baht holdings

  4. But Thirachai also expressed hope that the turbulence would be short-term, and that Thailand would not be badly affected if world leaders can come up with effective measures.

  5. AA lost my 15+ return flights a year (always 2 people) due to their fees scam...if you like their kind of service go for it ...I went

For me it is a perfect example of how the World is now-a-days ..if it looks good there is always a catch

I give all company's like this 1 chance then 1 take my business else where, the little savings are just not worth all the c@ap attached

  6. When most Western Governments are seriously talking about legalization of so called illegal drugs? these donkeys are still spewing the same old garbage to keep the un-educated poor of Thailand in the same "it must be good" mind set.

    Absolute <deleted>

The best thing that could happen is for all these so-called politicians; is to step outside their fluffy little bubbles and realise it is a big world out there and whatever they want if people want it more they have no chance in stopping it , just look at the trillions the US has spent on Drug suppression and of course drug supply

Yingluck must be running out of Ideas or Money

  7. What garbage, so AA dont get the seat fee, baggage fee,Insurance fee (that by International Law all airlines must provide free of charge)on-line convenience fee, etc etc

AA is a total scam outfit and the sooner they get real competition the better

  8. If you want to open a Pub and not a bar and you are in fact a Thai National the 2 most important things you need to find are 1) property that can be legally fully licensed for a Pub 2)A connected Police man

In fact if you find number 2 you dont need to worry about the licences for a Pub a restaurant will do

  9. What most of you AA huggers miss is this.

As a AA user from the very first flight in Thailand i would use them inside Thailand at least once a month, International about every 9 weeks...then all this garbage started with add-ons, (example: hot seats??? almost always empty...they upgrade people at the airport for free to put people in them, happened to me a couple of times)

So after all the add-on cr_p started i now use AA inside Thailand twice a year, International once a year (and these are maximum) so AA have done well with me and actually Thai/Nok get my business now

Yes you get what you pay for and they is why I prefer other Airlines if choice is available

  10. This is what bar owners pay on Koh Samui

Depends on the lawyer/account you will use.

Some charge high accounting fee but less for fixing WP and Non-B papers.

The Personal income tax is based on a 30.000 baht salary that is minimum on Koh Samui for getting a WP.

Personal income Tax: 1000 baht / month

Accounting Fee: 500-1000 baht / month

Work permit: 4000-8000 baht / year.

Paper work to get multiple entry non-B in Kuala Lumpur: 5000-6000 baht / year

    Border run: 2000 baht / 3 months.

    Visa run: 15.000 baht / 15 months.

Annual result and balance sheets and auditing: 18.000 baht / year

Why is he not on an extension rather than doing all that crap for the B visa ?

I have to agree. You are spending 22k - 23k per year on visa runs by this logic. It's basically the same price to simply up your salary to 50k, pay the additional taxes and get a legitimate extension of stay.

And your still working illegally in a prohibited profession...even tho you have a work permit issued as consultant/chef/or some other made up position....just wait till you have a serious problem and you always will in this place (staff trying to kill each other is a good one, to look out for)

Bottom line for Thailand; drink in bars, let other do the running & ultimatly crying

  11. Cynical and suspicious.

Thai Airways has a well-established domestic network, albeit faltering and cut-backs have been their worst enemy.

Instead of inventing a "new" airline subsidiary why not take this new found underwriting and put it to better practice - maintaining and retreiving the old and expandeding their dying domestic routes.

Since all national carriers tend to be subsidized by respective governments, why dig yourself into another hole that can't be filled. Their business practices and history should tell you everything you need to know.

Excellent I will be running from Air Asia to use their service.....I am sick of their money grabbing idiotic cr_p, now 100baht to check in at the airport but still have to get your documents checked by the same staff that will charge you the 100baht even when you check in on-line....what total bull, Guess TF is too busy playing F1 and football team owner to give a clap about passenger scum, hope they fall as fast as they climbed..good luck to Thai and whatever stupid name they choose

  12. Until Thailand gets a Police force that takes all crime seriously and officers realizes that are there to actually investigate and follow crimes thro to prosecution nothing will ever change in this idiotic Country

This applies to Domestic and Non-National crimes

Expats with enough money and connections knows the deal here...pay and on the next flight please.

  13. OK this is a great opportunity for you all. :o

This is NOT the first time that something like this has happened. But it is the first time that it is free.

Back in 2005 I attended a "Legal Guidance for Foreigners" seminar in Bangkok.

It was excellant, and a big thank you to the faculty of law at the Dhurakij Pundit University for holding it. It taught me a lot.

We foreigners DO have rights. And it works.

Those cynics amongst you can poo poo this idea, and that is why you are always going to lose.

If this free seminar is half as good as the one that I attended - get your butts down there.B)

LOL you obviously attended a different seminar than i did .. a complete wast of time and money, officials from the relevant dept inc the BOI that knew less than i did, every single question i asked no one knew the answer.

40 minutes were taken up by a Japanese guy who asked do i need a work permit if i use my lap top in my hotel room?????

But you did get a nice big book of papers and some reasonable buffet to network while eating.

Like everything in Thailand ..all show and no meat, anyone who believes this will help foreigners rights is a fool..that will only happen with pressure from Foreign Governments connected to trade restrictions.

Just to clarify Foreigners have absolutely few rights here ...and they comprise of giving money , keeping quiet and of course LEAVING.

To the guy asking about the unborn child and property..... your child has NO rights until it's first breath of Thai air that includes opening a bank account as it does not have an id or a tabien Bahn listing.

  14. Those anchors are attractive (esp Bloomberg) but don't base your investment decisions on their trash-talk. Asia holds around $3 trillion in US government debt and if China isn't worried about the US failing to find a solution, neither should anyone else be. The US problem is simply political and buying gold at it's present record price is as risky as buying tech stocks was back in '99. You've got to reconsider gold as a hedge against financial crisis when you look at how gold plummeted after Lehman's collapse.

:cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: Sorry dont agree, bet you were saying gold was just a hedge at $250.

China is not worried? of course not; it needs American trade to keep it;s factory's running and people quiet, China could not even care about the treasury's its all priced into their system

There will be massive market manipulations in the next week so great care is required

  15. but I am concerned that prostitution was endorsed by the management of the hotel.

    In Patttaya??

    Your jokiing right ???

This is just a wind up yes????

I have stayed at many hotels in Pattaya including Amari, Garden Cliff, etc. . There were no prostitutes at these hotels that I could discern. Sorry to hurt your feelings, but not everyone is after a prostitute in Pattaya. Some of us have families. A typical hotel does not encourage individuals who are not guests to enter the pool area especially knowing they are prostitutes and is then rated 4 star on Agoda.

WELL SAID ...too many members here think everyone should put up with bad service and low standards because you go to Pattaya ....like it is some kind of excuse?????

We all know what Pattaya is about BUT many places are not just about bar girls or low life sex tourists
