  1. I know of one MAJOR German manufacturer who is moving operations from Thailand to India as Thailand is no longer competitive due to the high exchange rates.

Multi nationals are whores, they will quit thailand at the drop of a hat if it starts hitting their bottom line. and it is doing that right now.

Could be the same as 1997, will the last expat out of the door please turn out the lights, but for different reasons!

  2. I have been to a large whoesale establishment on sukumvit and many times seen trollies of frozen food just sitting there. Squeezed them and found they are soft!

    Mmmm!

Same in Klang Charlie they just leave the frozen food in the ailes. The have no concept of what they are doing!

  4. Perhaps if the OP (Prospero) could be a little more specific about his problem with BPH then we could be a little more objective.

I.e. did they cut off your leg when you only wanted your ear wax removing? Or did they dare to request that you to pay your bill for your medical treatment?

  5. You can get most spices in makro.

For herbs and spices and food products, beer you can't get try arrgh I think I've forgotten the name ......... Royal foods (??) in Pattaya the other side of the Sukhumvit road .

They've moved from the original shop in ...... Pattaya plaza on Sukhumvit (????) ...... turn left into the soi before/ next to the next 7/11 after the Plaza (if I've got the name right) and keep going over the railway line and up the hill. When the hill starts to bend round it is somewhere there on the bend on the righthand side opposite a housing estate. Set in it's own car park.

So its up a Soi with a 7/11 on the corner! Right that should be easy!thumbsup.gif
  6. Behind tuk com there is a mosque ,do not know the name of the street ,but loads of Indian stores selling everything you could want and far cheaper than the stores like Makro.

They are the ones I refer to as "the Asian shops in Soi 17 2nd Rd." I could only find two selling Indian foodstuffs, but they are empty of everything. One next to the Hindu Temple and one about four shops down.
  7. Now there are a load more Indians in Pattaya and a new Indian restaurant opening every week, they must be getting their supplies of spices etc from somewhere. Is there an Indian wholesaler hidden away somewhere?

The supermarkets only have cook-in sauces imported from the UK (which nearly cost as much as a meal) and the Asian shops in Soi 17 2nd Rd. are empty of anything.

  8. Certainly is a step up from the usual request for a gold necklace (which I can sell later).

Our neighbour did the same thing and bought his girlfriend a second hand car in her name. She drove off in it and sold it. He has not seen or heard from her since.

He should either buy himself a car, keep the logbook and let here drive it (don’t forget to fit it with a tracker first) or better still, rent her a car and see if she sticks around. Could work out cheaper in the long run!!

  9. I can believe it as when I was getting yet another rear bumper fitted the other week i saw a car in the body shop which looked like someone had shot the wheel arches with a shot gun. Asked what happened. Told dog bite car and all the marks were teeth marks. Bad dog!

  10. We have got our fourth rear steel bumper on our Fortuner. Twice rear ended at traffic lights with the handbreak on and once when we stopped due to an accident in front of us! All in 12 months.

One guy admitted that he was texting on his phone and did not notice the traffic had stopped!

Thinking of getting some good motorway crash barrier welded on the back! Towbars seem to get them to back off a bit as well as they don't do the radiator much good!

  11. Getting abusive messages now! He has really spat his dummy out! But if you don't want to do anything, stop complaining.

I was only asking if anyone else was taking any action after being ripped off! Seems that was the wrong question to ask and you are quite happy with the situation.

    "up to you"

  12. As I said, up to you! If you are one of these people who give lots of advice and do nothing, that is your choice.

Right on. My advice is to do nothing and save people from wasting their time.

Now instead of all this back and forth bickering, get on with your plan to make a complaint to the police. Please let us know of your progress. Prove me wrong.

Getting quite nasty with everone. Lost it!

  13. It may be that nothing will actually come of a complaint, but should they be allowed to perpetuate the belief that this kind of thing is accepted willy nilly in Thailand?

You need to wake up to yourself. The company is broke. There is no money. Get over it.

If some of you want to waste your time, go ahead.

As I said, up to you! If you are one of these people who give lots of advice and do nothing, that is your choice. And no I am not interested in the money, just the fact that so many people have been conned and I at least have an interest in raising the profile, even if you dont!

  14. Has anyone actually made a complaint to the police for being ripped off by CA WoW?

They took me for 6k in advance trainer fees the day before they closed the door and I had paid up my membership until the end of next February. I also know of one person who paid 70k just before going to Germany on holiday only to come back and find it closed.

In Europe it is a criminal offence to continue trading when you know you are going to fold.

If the guy has taken the money and run, I would imagine the banks would like to talk to him as I understand that they are owed about 120 million.

It will be interesting to see if the extradition will work coming from US to Thailand or do the Americans think it is only one way traffic?

Even if you could make a case, you'd be way down the list. The banks will be first to get their hands on any money owed.

Well I for one am going to loge a complaint. That is how it works here. If you are happy to take it on the chin and put it down to experience, up to you, as they say. If no one reports this fraud, then they are free to do it again. No record of anyone being unhappy!

  16. It is a Hotel bar! What do you expect?

It's a hotel bar? I hadn't noticed that. However, for the type of place that it is in its prime location, no, I expected high drink prices for sure.

When it was the Royal Garden Hotel Shananigans rented it. When Marriot took over they realised they were making a tidy profit and wanted all of the action and got them to move out to their current location in The Avenue. Dicey Reilly’S Irish Pub is part of the Marriot! So it does not surprise me that the Indian food is as about authentic as the bar is Irish!
