  1. Your not to good in the reading and comprehension department old bean, i and many here were expressing that the posters experience was far from being a scam and to return to the store to complain has made him look like a tight fisted fool.......

(LOL, I'm "old bean" now? In your last reply I was "My friend" - what next?).

Come on Mr Bean, if you were good at reading (and comprehension) you would have read my posts above explaining what I would have done if I was in the OP's position. I would have taken note of the time limit and made sure I purchased the required amount next time I shopped (300 baht) in order to get free parking for an hour. I would not have gone inside to complain.

My posts about the value of 20 baht were merely a side note - but you've decided to use them in an attempt to insult people of like mind... and waffled on about how much you pay for things in Melbourne, Australia, as if it has any relevance to the topic.

Now stop posting - you derided the OP for wasting his time posting here - but yet you continue to post.

Have either of you considered HRT. It worked for my wife.wai2.gif

  2. You obviously lead a busy and fulfilling life.

The problem with your "20 baht is not enough to get worked up over" assertion is where do you draw the line?

I feed a big family in the Philippines and 20 baht pays for nearly a kilogram of rice. I'd rather send it there than waste it on parking.

So how much do you make an hour? Penny wise - pound foolish, says I.

USD$ 1,250 a day seven days a week, (tax free) but I still resent this.

  3. TIT.

TIT TVcheesy.gif You don't actually believe the guy went back for 20 baht in a crowded parking lot, parked, got out of his car and walked in all for 20 baht?

You would not happen to be the same lostoday who was complaining on this forum about double pricing for foreigners and baht bus fares would you?

  4. You went back and complained over a 20B charge? your kidding me right? about $AU0.65, $US0.50 am i getting this right?

    Words fail me......

It is not the value. I just don't like getting ripped off.

If you are happy about people getting one over on you. Then up to you!

  5. Went to Friendship in South Pattaya to do shopping today. Got in but had to wait 5 minutes to park as busy. Did my shopping, came to 280 Baht. Got the ticket stamped. Could not get out of parking spot for ten minutes as the traffic wardens in the car park had put a pickup behind me.

Got to the gate. Wants 20 Baht as I have stamp for only 30 minutes and you have been here 35 minutes. Point to the sign that says you get one hour free with stamped ticket. Go back in the shop to complain as I thought the security guy was trying to rip me off. Told me you only get 30 minutes if you spend less than 300 Baht.

So be warned, if you spend less than 300 Baht and cannot get in and out within 30 minutes they charge you for the privilege of shopping there.

  6. Ditto the above advantages. Also in mid winter we have blue sky and sunshine and about 30oC warmer than where we are from in the UK which is freezing, wet, dark and miserable. So are the people.

  7. I thought I was beginning to understand the process, but the more threads I read the more confused I have become.

I had been on an OA visa extension (Retirement) for three years. I got approached last year to join a company and work in Leam Chabang (I live in Pattaya). I went to Singapore and obtained a B Visa.

The Company head office is in Bangkok so that is where my B Visa Extension, multiple re-entry & Work Permit were Obtained.

Things did not work out and I resigned. Due to the nature of my work, having access to highly sensitive information, they agree to release me there and then and pay me in lieu up to March 23rd 2015.

They lead me to believe at the time that they would assist me in regaining my OA visa, same as before I started working for them. They have sent me an email attaching a letter stating that my employment is terminated effective March 23rd and advised that they will cancel Work Permit on March 31st to "allow me time to sort myself out".

Since then I have heard nothing, despite sending emails and phone calls.

I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

Do I need to go to Bangkok to cancel my B visa or can it be done in my local Jomtiem office?

Can I convert back to an OA visa from a B Visa in Thailand, or do I need to leave the country?

I have had the necessary 800,000 in the bank. plus the three previous OA extensions.

Just to confuse things further, We had already booked a vacation out of Thailand for Sonkran and are due to fly out on April 12th for a week.

I am married to a UK citizen. she has retained her OA (retirement ) extension thank goodness.

    Thanks in anticipation

  8. You will probably find that there are fewer Ford workers in Detroit than Pattaya. Which probably means that it is safer as you wont be run off the road by a Ford Everest on a life or death mission to get an employees wife to a coffee morning.

  9. I have the same fridge. I bought a stand-alone "Pure" filter unit which water passes thru before it reaches the fridge. It has the same style white plastic supply hose/fittings that are compatible with the back of the Samsung unit. It has three filter elements plus UV and sits in a cupboard adjacent to the fridge so easy to service/change filters. Never seen the Samsung filter just reset the light when it comes one. Can't see how any one filter element inside the fridge would be good enough here. Maybe it was intended for use with an already "clean/safe" water supply or maybe the light is just a reminder and the filter is nothing more than a "strainer" element. No manual to check as I inherited the fridge when I bought the house.

  10. Our whole house water filtration system filters down too 0.25 micron so nothing except water molecules can get through (bacteria are too big). We also have a magnetic "bio-buster" which quite literally bursts any bacteria before it gets to the filter. You can drink from any tap in the house. But I still wanted to change the fridge filter. The problem is that over time the activated charcoal in the filter compacts and restricts flow so it takes ages to fill a large glass.

  11. We bought one of the fancy Samsung side by side Fridge Freezers with a water dispenser and icemaker. Problem is we cannot find a replacement water filter. Went to the electrical shop where we bought it. No Have! Went to the Samsung Service Center on Sukhumvit. No have! They can order them from Singapore, but they are not going to!

So Samsung sell refrigerators that require water filters to be replaced, but they don't sell replacement filters, or more likely, too lazy to check. Thanks a lot Samsung.

There must be thousands of these refrigerators out there. I am sure that I am not the only person who actually wants to change the filter once in a while. Ideas anyone?

    Thanks
