  1. I love a cider on a hot day, but what I don't like are the prices. I can only reference the UK where cider in the shops is 30% to 50% the price of beer.

In Thailand cider is at least double the price of beer. To put that in perspective, Thatchers Gold B120 500ml can is more expensive by volume, than boxed wine.

  2. so they basically got off easy again? I wonder what the total damages are and what percentage of the damage caused BP had to pay? How much profit did they still make from this disaster?

I would say that a $20 billion fine would amount to a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket. If this was China, the people responsible for the disaster would have been stood against a wall and shot and their organs harvested so that these scumbags would at least be of some use to someone even if it was after their deaths.

So the companies who were responsible, Halliburton & Transocean Drilling (both American Companies) should be shot.

The American taxpayer is technically paying the majority of the settlement in lost taxable profits.

  3. Flight times are ok for commuters but tourists don't want to arrive at their hotels late at night.

For that reason alone, I would be put off using it.

  4. Hope this is true. Had a great little flight up there with them before. Any more details. Timetable?

  5. We have a high end Samsung 55' 3D TV. The screen has gone dark in the top left hand corner. From researching the internet it would appear that it is probably a backlight problem.

Had Samsung service out this afternoon. Told us we need to replace the screen at a cost of Baht 32,000

So as they say in the medical profession, we would like to get a second opinion as there are many comments on the net about just having to replace capacitors or LED controllers.

Attached shows blank screen as it is clearer to see than with a picture.

    Thanks

  6. Given that this happened in the middle of the night (after a night out) The Thai relatives and neighbors would know nothing about this incident if your wife had kept her mouth shut. So she has broadcast it to anyone who will listen, then blames you for their reaction and her loss of face. It was not a problem until she made it one.

I would be looking for an apology from her for creating this shitstorm.

  7. If you had brought a ladyboy home and snuck her into your marital bed, I cold understand her attitude.

But you did not, your relative did. He is a big boy and if she wants to be pissed with someone, she should have a go at him, not you.

His best defense would be to say he is gay and she is prejudice.

  8. Our neighbor is a policeman. When he gets pissed, he goes out into his garden and fires his pistol into the air.

Keeps the burglars away, but we have to keep fishing the bullets out of our pool.

  9. Easy to purchase a condo in Pattaya, but with about 20,000 under construction, not so easy to sell.

50% of the condos under construction here have been mothballed, so think very carefully before proceeding.

Better to save your money and purchase a completed condo when you have the funds rather than putting money into a project that may never take off.

Look up "The Waterfront" the same company has a project at Cosy Beach, but no progress for two years.

Your ten percent non refundable down payment goes as sale commission. So you can kiss that goodbye.

  10. Boonies is correct. There is nothing out there ... a long way to go if you want an alternative to Tesco and Big C south. I think it's a very strange site for such a supermarket. Foodland's main clientele is foreigners, most of whom live a bit closer to Jomtien/Pattaya, I would have thought. Let's not forget Villa had a store in Khao Noi (aka Soi Wat Bunsampan) where there is a fair concentration of foreigners. Yet it failed.

That was not "Villa Market" but "Villa Supermarket".

Close but not the same group!

  11. The current parking rate at U-Tapao is 70 Baht per 24 hour period.

However, there is not always someone there to issue the ticket. To avoid problems, if you go to the information desk in the terminal, they will radio the car park attendant and wake him up.

Otherwise you may return to a clamped vehicle.
