  1. When are they going to build a Macro/Big C Extra/Lotus or a decent shopping mall on the dark side? Then I'd never need to battle Pattaya traffic again.

I have heard that Big C are opening a large store on the darkside. Could be in the new Shopping Mall being built in Khao Noi (Boonsampan)

  2. We have quite a few mosquitos in our garden following the recent rains and having had Dengue Fever once, I am not keen to get it again. In many mosquito prevalent countries it is common to fog the area once a week to wipe all of the bugs out.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a small fogging machine in the Pattaya area?

    Thanks

  3. nice one tropo. thanks.

NOTE TO ALL - i got a refund tonight, i had to pay a money under the counter, so it can be done. if buying - do not pay 100% upfront. pay minimum deposit only.

i broke a golden rule to my cost - never again, will learn one day !!

You bribed someone to get a refund for something you bought?

  4. Lets assume for a moment that you have a business selling high value electrical items and have, say, 400 different items. You only have a limited stock in addition to showroom display items (which is normal in Thailand).

A customer orders an item and pays for it. As "Langsuan Man" correctly states, the receipt is the contract. It is, therefor, reasonable to assume that he/she actually wants to take delivery of this item. So you order it from the manufacturer, Probably payment in advance knowing Thailand. They can deliver next week. Customer walks in five day later and says he/she does not want it anymore. You are stuck with the item. Imagine this happened 20 times a week.

Some large national chains in the UK offer a "Price Match" service, but it does not override the contract of sale and is addition to the consumers statuary rights.

    Different ballgame!

  5. Wife renewed her 12 month retirement extension today. I read all of the doom and gloom posts on TV and Expat websites, went prepared, copies of land deeds, house book etc.

They were not interested. We were out of there within ten minutes (seriously). I only just had time to park the car after dropping her off and she had paid her 1,900 and was on her way out.

She showed them a water bill. Seemed happy with that so did not volunteer other documents we had as backup.

Could be if you appear to be lying, you probably are and they will ask for more.

    A pleasurable experience.

  6. We put double glazed tinted glass windows and doors in our house. Noise not a problem, but keeps the heat out and the AC in!

We have large windows and doors so UPVC is not a space issue. You only need epoxy coted aluminum if you have portholes biggrin.png

Got ours from Tom at ARC

We got ours from Tom at ARC also. Very happy! 100% plus he will come back if you have a problem. Even after five years!!

Keeps the heat and Karaoke out (and the wife's Barry White & Eagles in)gigglem.gif

  7. I had a similar situation with Toyota Pattaya a few years back. wanted to get a top of the range Fortuna B 1,400,000

No have! But you are a Toyota dealer? We sell this month already.

From what I can gather, they order one a month and it is a take it or leave it basis. The ones they had ordered for delivery over the next two months were black. I wanted white. Cannot have!

So they have nothing to test drive and there is no choice of color or spec. Only what they have pre-ordered! Insane!!

Got ours from Bangkok in the end but it turned out a bit tricky registering it in Chonburi.

  8. So despite the importers and supermarkets being aware that there was an import bad in place for North American poultry, they did absolutely nothing to source an alternative supplier.

Turkeys are available from Europe, Australia, South America Etc.

Maybe there is a Butterball Turkey Mafia!

  9. Thanks for the interesting account of the perils of DIY jobs, of which I am already well aware.

What I am looking for as requested is a professional service that does this if it exists.

    Thank you.

I have tried it myself with a few variations without much success. The laminate always pulled a good part of the paper away from the document, making the document basically unusable. I would try making another paper document with a super good copier. Of course if you have original signatures or some other types of markings, that may not work for you.

GK was politely informing you that it was not possible.

So now you should already be well aware, the answer is:

    NO

    Thank you

  11. East Pattaya on the Hill with sea view. 200+ houses priced from Baht 10,500,000 to 95,000,000 8 years old and still building.

Maintenance is same for all at Baht 3.00 /m2 per month so for our 1,140 m2 plot it is Baht 3,420 month.

Includes Garbage and garden waste collection daily, street lighting (electric), security manning barriers at two entrances and patrolling village 24/7, large saltwater pool in cleaning and maintenance (hardly used as everyone has at least one pool) gardening of verges, common areas and watering daily with truck. Maintaining roads and infrastructure.

Only thing missing is that they have not finished our clubhouse yet.
