As a Chinese American born and raise 1st generation been here over 15 years married to a Thai even longer and live amongst them.

I've been to a number of Thai wedding from the celebration I would conclude they were all middle class.  The girl family got 100,000 baht and a nice ceremony. I'm more of in the camp would the family be demanding million baht from a Thai man?  The word demand if that is true comes across like the Supreme Court that foreigners should pay more at hospitals because we can. If this is the parents and daughter position it won't end there.  Only the ops know I myself pay a lot of attention to what is said in daily general conversation if for example he was having a conversation about buying a used car she or they have a negative view. He talks Toyota she talks BMW,  these are all major signs to me. 

We all think we are men how much of one are you? I don't doubt you love her if you were in America would you walk too?

It's a bit of a mix really, but it does appear with many new regulations (banking, finance, pensions, Brexit, COVID) that the west wants it's old folk to stay home and make retiring overseas as difficult as possible.

Thanks for the reply.  I can understand a country wanting you to retired so one can spend on their economy. The pension being spoke of here does a citizen contribute into it if so a country like Australia supposedly free telling it's citizen where they can live in today's world where leaders of free world speak so free about Global economy. 

I know a number of Brit's here and they have spoken about not getting a Cost of living increase and that is really a shame another reason I poke them whenever I can the reason the Great is gone from the British. In your relationship. You still working at 71,  what financially are you providing your wife and daughter now what is the wife doing? Do they own or rent?  Being part-time and full time the demands are different.  When you do visit what is the pattern. 

This will determine what happens to your 9 million it can go fast if all of a sudden you are urge to buy property a car.  What will happen is money will go out never come in 40,000 isn't enough in my opinion. 

Not saying it isn't important but in your case the Visa is a low priority you can get around it.  How is your health even if you are in excellent health 72? Near impossible for health insurance especially at 40,000.  One million set aside goes no where in a private hospital if you already have medical needs like diabetes, HBP,  that need constant visits you got one foot in the grave already health and financially.

Even fruit like Bananas, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, mango's, are high in sugar than other fruits and those I listed are cheap and abundant in Thailand then for Asian they love their rice just like farangs their potatoe. breads, and pasta. It comes down after research everything a person love becomes a problem. You cut back on one food for sugar then eat an alternative it is bad for your cholesterol, takes statin studied show now can increase your A1C. 

We are screw one turn left screwed turn right screwed so it comes down to moderation so what is moderation? 

Older units on remote don't have flap control. 

After turning on get a small extension stick,  pencil depending your height lightly push the flap higher or lower.

Works all the time for me,  I don't over think it when I need to watch T. V.
