  2. Have you ever seen the music library in mahidol? it's pathetic, even Khon Kean is better, and the students have not had their mummies pay to get them in there. Anyway even with it 'great' music faculty it is still firmly in the third world league and just cannot compete with western University standards. What research does Mihidol do concerning the history of Thailand's own music? none that I ever heard of and if it did it would firmly be in the areas of classical music, khon and such hi so interests. I would suggest they get the richest musicians, not the necessarily the best.

  3. These busts are just publicity stunts. There are thousands of brothels all over Thailand not just Bangkok and nearby provinces.

The biggest brothel in Thailand and probably all of Asia is just down the road at a place called... Pattaya.

There are as many as 30,000 prostitutes operating there depending on the time of year, most from the poorest provinces of NE Thailand.

Thai gov will never shut down Pattaya. Too many powerful players involved.

What would Pattaya be without the illegal prostitution??

    A lot nicer?

  4. All a fantasy, almost every Thai has offered money direct to a monk, they love house parties, a few hundred baht is not a bad days work for 30 mins of chanting, same with funerals etc. Such money should only be donated to the wat and not stuffed in monks robes as their income

  5. Many poor Thai women do not see prostitution as bad , in the way that foreigners do . For girls from the north/northeast with little education , it is a source of immediate good income , that provides a better life for them and their families back home . Mothers and fathers don't question where the money comes from , they know how their daughter earns the money and are happy to receive it . Sex in Thailand isn't seen as an exclusive personal intimacy , making love , it is an activity , like having a pee or taking a shower . In Thailand love is money .

Many don't see theft as bad, corruption, or selling their daughters to the highest bidder, does not make it right of socially beneficial though. In Thailand money is everything, that's what's wrong with the country and the pursuit of easy money through widespread prostitution is but one aspect of the countries hypocrisy and backwardness.

  6. I have a new Vios and it gives me 4.7 km per litre. I took it in for check and they found nothing wrong. I drove long distances, per their request, and it did 10 km per litre. Still too low.

I will go in for the 1000km this week. I will insist on a full check up, not just a windows based tablet hookup below the steering wheel and I will not be impressed by all the little numbers flying by.

I am already going to bring up the Thai version of the consumer protection service if they tell me all is ok.

I measured our last fill up and it did about 9k to a litre, or just under. She only drives about 40k an hour, you can always convert it to gas for about 20k. They do not seem very fuel efficient Thai consumer protection, is there such a thing?

  7. I have said before I know nothing about cars. But when I read on the web that a new Toyota Vios needs a service every 10k OR every six months I think our car is in need of a service. it's 18 months old and after the first 1k when it was in for an oil change it has never been serviced. The mrs is of the opinion that if you try and get a service before 10k they will charge you. i do not think this is true and as it's only done 5k the 3 years free service would be up by the time she got to 10k in it. Can anyone give me some advice on this, her idea seems to be drive it until a problem shows up then take it in!!

  8. Do not take any pills at all as most people get addicted and are on them for life or go through 'hell' trying to come off them. Better try doing some vigorous exercise for an hour each day treadmill, jogging or fast walking. Try yoga or having a physical massage. Also make sure you are on a good healthy diet. Good luck to you.
