  1. Very lucky children to be rescued. My wife tells me that in cases like this it is not unusual for the children to even go through amputation in order to get greater sympathy when begging.

that means DO NOT GIVE these beggars anything and hopefully they this will not be a profitable business for their 'bosses' soon, and this can even save lives in the future

As for me, I give beggars only food, nothing else, and definitely not money

  2. http://www.boi.go.th/english/how/tax_rates_and_double_taxation_agreements.asp

    Excise Tax

e.g. Pickup passenger vehicles (PPV) with the displacement of over than 3,250 -- 50% Wow!

Passenger car with the displacement of over than 3,000cc or with an engine power of not over than 220 horse power (HP) -- 50% too

Best value seem to be Vehicles with double cap With the displacement of not over than 3,250cc -- 12%

  3. Since the 'Sole Proprietorship For Translator' topic was already locked, I had to start a new topic. My question was 'Can e-services like programming, translations or database maintenance be done as a Sole Proprietorship (Thai owned)? The problem we are having is that the officer claims this is not possible and rather a partnership or a limited company must be formed which I find quite ridiculous. The obvious advantage of a Sole Proprietorship are the flat deductions (although perhaps only 30% in this case?).

    Thanks again for any answers.

  4. Hello, my Thai girlfriend wanted to start a Sole Proprietorship business in the field of software localization and translation and she was told that this is not possible, and rather a partnership must be formed. Is this true? I thought the only restricted areas are finance and insurance.

    According to http://www.bia.co.th/008.html:

A sole proprietorship is a business owned by a sole natural person whose liability is unlimited. A sole proprietor can engage in virtually any business permitted by

law, unless there is a special law to the contrary. For example, a sole proprietor may not engage in finance or insurance </span><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">activities</span><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"" lang="EN-AU">, because these are restricted by law

to limited companies. Generally speaking, there are few restrictions on sole proprietors.

    Thank you for answers.

  5. From http://www.offshore.hsbc.com/1/2/international/offshore-banking/tax-benefits/tax-going-to-thailand: There is a Special Expatriates Regime which allows for a reduction in the progressive rates of income tax to 15% flat rate for a period of up to four years. This is applicable to assessable income which is earned by an expatriate through the hire of labour by a Regional Operating Headquarter (ROH) that provides management services, technical services or support services to its associated companies situated in Thailand and abroad. The Thai employer has to be registered as a ROH entity in Thailand with the appropriate authorities.

Anyone using this? 15% seems very resonable...
