In Thailand, we've driven around second hand vehicles which we've purchased in good condition and then sold them 2 years later for not much less that we got them for. Ex. fuel and maintenance (the latter very cheap in Thailand), that is almost free driving.
And I wonder when will those monkeys buying second hand cars for these prices realize this...

I personally would find it quite rude to ask for such prices for virtually no service at all (like prescribing new medicines in 5 minutes)

Since the 'Sole Proprietorship For Translator' topic was already locked, I had to start a new topic. My question was 'Can e-services like programming, translations or database maintenance be done as a Sole Proprietorship (Thai owned)? The problem we are having is that the officer claims this is not possible and rather a partnership or a limited company must be formed which I find quite ridiculous. The obvious advantage of a Sole Proprietorship are the flat deductions (although perhaps only 30% in this case?).
Thanks again for any answers.

Hello, my Thai girlfriend wanted to start a Sole Proprietorship business in the field of software localization and translation and she was told that this is not possible, and rather a partnership must be formed. Is this true? I thought the only restricted areas are finance and insurance.
According to http://www.bia.co.th/008.html:
A sole proprietorship is a business owned by a sole natural person whose liability is unlimited. A sole proprietor can engage in virtually any business permitted by
law, unless there is a special law to the contrary. For example, a sole proprietor may not engage in finance or insurance </span><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">activities</span><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"" lang="EN-AU">, because these are restricted by law
to limited companies. Generally speaking, there are few restrictions on sole proprietors.
Thank you for answers.

From http://www.offshore.hsbc.com/1/2/international/offshore-banking/tax-benefits/tax-going-to-thailand: There is a Special Expatriates Regime which allows for a reduction in the progressive rates of income tax to 15% flat rate for a period of up to four years. This is applicable to assessable income which is earned by an expatriate through the hire of labour by a Regional Operating Headquarter (ROH) that provides management services, technical services or support services to its associated companies situated in Thailand and abroad. The Thai employer has to be registered as a ROH entity in Thailand with the appropriate authorities.
Anyone using this? 15% seems very resonable...

I am always having problems withdrawing money from Paypal to Kbank, every time it takes ages! Usually I have to call them after about one month and ask what happened, and after this call they suddenly find the 'lost' payment in the system, really annoying. Anyone else having problem with delays?

I am sure a translator from Hungarian or Finnish is acceptable as no Thai can speak it as a native speaker. Thai translator is perhaps forbidden, though.

Hello,
I was recently quoted 5000 baht per hour from one of the lawyers claiming that they can do company registration in Thailand. Is this normal price? I find it very high, especially for Thailand.
They say:
"If you would like more information we can arrange a consultation in our office or by telephone conference. Our fees are 5,000 baht per hour. We would also apply the first hour of consultation to the fees for any subsequent company registration case.
The advantage of a meeting is that we can review your documents and understand your needs. We may be able to save you money or find an easier way."
What do you think? 5,000 baht per hour, and they can save me money?

You do not need 4Mbit/s for trading, did you ever check the data traffic? This is really lame, even 256kbit/s is fine.

Are you sure it will not go lower?

that means DO NOT GIVE these beggars anything and hopefully they this will not be a profitable business for their 'bosses' soon, and this can even save lives in the future
As for me, I give beggars only food, nothing else, and definitely not money
