  1. Here are few for me. My Dad's favorite Used to listen by myself in a Bangkok bar just before I quit 20 + years ago
  2. Seen them live, great bands. Proclaimers are awesome, I used to live in Leith so the following song makes me cry to this day.
  3. It's extremely irritating and to prove it's not my fault, I never have the issue when using the telephone, but very often in face to face situations, especially t 7/11!
  4. Indeed, the foreigner in the TIkToK is not very good at Thai. Definitely not intermediate. I know by his pronunciation and when he said nothing after the Thai said "chang yon". He obviously didn't know, or he would have told him the English, "mechanic".
  5. You are either trolling or have a comprehension problem. We are discussing how some Thais refuse to grasp that one is speaking Thai, even if it is perfect.
  6. Absolutely. There are also some Thais and foreigners who ridicule us for speaking Thai. Some will never understand the trials and tribulations of being an immigrant in Thailand as they identify as long term tourists.
  7. The very first thing the doc said when I walked in was, "you are a Thai citizen, were you born here?" He saw that on my records. I knew immediately the type of person he was and was trying to suss me out in regard to who was the senior. I was about 20 years older than him. As you know, Thailand has a strict hierarchical social structure, which is reflected in the dialogues. Rather that use certain honorifics in Thai, he said he was educated in Leeds and would I be OK speaking English. I said OK, I was born in Glasgow, to which he said, so not a real Thai. He wasn't as bad as the Chinese woman, I gave her a mouthful, using "jek" a few times ????
  8. It takes them a while to understand, nothing to do with language ability. Do you ever speak Thai here?
  9. I hear you. I've lived here most of my life, spent thousands of hours learning Thai and integrating into the society. The last thing I want is to speak pidgin English with pump attendants etc Oh, I know them well. Usually the Chinese ones, they really don't want farang infiltrating Thai society. Last year, a doctor told me I want a real Thai as I wasn't born here. A Chinese, Thai woman at the bank told me Chinese could change their nationalality but farang could never be Thai.
  10. What are you talking about, I speak fluent Thai and passed the grade 6 Thai exam.
  11. I rarely mention it, yet you often do. No idea why me being Thai upsets you so much.
  12. Last week, a beggar approached me outside 7/11 and wanted to practice her English. She said, 'you you money me'. As I was a teacher here for 25 years, I corrected her bad grammar. Don't know why, but she wasn't very appreciative.
  13. Your true personality if coming through strongly by resorting to insults.
  14. You have mentioned many times in the past that you make no effort to speak Thai. If I remember correctly, you said your wife didn't want you to learn?
  15. What makes you say that? I simply stated that service people trying to speak English to me, when I speak Thai is annoying.
  16. Indeed. Drugs/guns etc.
  17. It's easy to find out - first you say 8 million then change to 5, when the reality is more like 1-2 million. https://thailand.iom.int/migration-context#:~:text=Of the 4 - 5 million,in Thailand through legal routes.
  18. Why give the number from 18 years ago?
