  1. There is a reason for this and why Westerners think it is strange. Basically, a difference in personal Values. Westerners prioritize personal freedom whereas Thais prioritize community spirit. Or, Thais are less selfish, probably due to the religious practices.
  2. Is there anyone here that doesn't speed, go through red lights, or drives on the wrong side? Where I live, the speed limit is too low. I am often the only one turning u-turn near my house, so often nip around between lights. It saves me 5 minutes when coming home to drive down the wrong side for about 20 metres. It really isn't a big deal and we Thais enjoy the freedom to do this, if it doesn't increase the likelihood to have an accident. As a Middle Eastern prophet said - "let he who is without sin cast the first stone".
  3. Thanks for the advice. How long have you had COPD? What do you take or it?
  4. I'm taking a Seretide Acuhaler which seems to have fixed it.
  5. I'm talking about a retirement visa in the US. Foreigners can work legally and own a business in Thailand. If Thailand offers nothing, why are you here?
  6. I heard they have a chess club.
  7. 17 million baht is plenty to settle into the US. However when you add on the 17 million to invest, that's $1 million. Do you really think this is small money or are you just being a member?
  8. It is illegal, but the chances of being prosecuted are slim. However, I know some who have been made continue to pay for this illegal service, when trying to do it legally. Also, know a guy who had a fake 'education' visa who was refused entry to the country.
  9. But NOT to get 14,000 baht for doing it! That's why they send the passports upcountry.
  10. I know what you mean, but as a naturalized citizen, I have rights and am not a guest.
  11. The better Rolexes are only 4 million baht
  12. Many are retired here, they can't find the 30 minutes every year.
  13. Its a stamp on your passport that allows you to stay in the country. Is bypassing immigration requirements, of course that is illegal.
  14. Thailand is one of the easiest countries to retire to, regarding visas. Just <deleted> 800k in the bank once a year, or pay an agent 14,000 baht a year for an illegal visa. I, as a Thai, woukd have to invest 17 million baht to get a similar visa in the USA Yet, many complain about immigration.
  15. How long have you been a guest for? Do you plan to be a guest for life? Some of us have lived in Thailand longer than our previous country and believe in assimilation and integration. Some of us refuse to integrate and remain at the same social level as a rubbish scavenger.
  16. I think she is probably proud of him. Rather have a husband who fights for what he believes in than a subservient one, living scared.
  17. Their Thai wives keep them on a leash and are terrified they lose their cash cow.
  18. Good to see a foreigner with balls. Most here are scared of their own shadow and are responsible for Thais thinking farang are gullible and we can screw them over.
  19. Probably the wrong type of tourists. The ones with money come for a couple of weeks.
  20. My God, it's the price of a 12'" Burger King, stop moaning.
