  1. Not sure but this might be intended to limit exposure to investors who can afford the risk or meet the regulatory standards. It could also affect the price and liquidity, similar to what happened at Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). A limited investor base could reduce the trading volume and potentially cause the ETF to trade at a discount to the value of the bitcoin it holds.
  2. Is making a tunnel illegal? Those pesky Palestinians again, we want them locked into Gaza with no chance to escape.
  3. You are correct, tunnel being found is totally irrelevant to what is going on in Gaza. Also, they had a valid reason for building tunnels as the Israeli blockade tightened.
  4. 68 Palestinians were killed and 235 wounded in the past 24 hours, the ministry added. https://aje.io/dp807f?update=2955570 According to their statement, out of the 40 people confirmed killed in the attack on a UN-run school there, 14 were children and nine were women. https://aje.io/dp807f?update=2955535
  5. Anything to do with the same day as Tianeman Square massacre?
  6. Spain applies to join South Africa’s case at top UN court accusing Israel of genocide https://apnews.com/article/spain-israel-icj-genocide-case-67d4d9b8ecf6fd88e718319a5d93465a
  7. I never file my taxes before March 31. 200 baht fine and no waiting time. You can also do it online. The Rd would have to double their staff if they wanted to assess all foreigners here!
  8. OK, 100 baht v 1000. I regularly go to a good Japanese restaurant for ramen noodles, Haichibaan. 89 baht. Actually, probably couldn't get Japanese food in Europe for 1000 baht.
  9. 200 baht v 2000 baht an hour for a good massage. 50 baht v 500 baht for a decent meal in a good restaurant.
  10. I don't think you really want repricicosity. Thai retirees in the US must invest 16 million baht in an American company to get a long term visa. US retirees in Thailand can get a long term visa for under $400 a year.
  11. I can see the US handing over information about large corporations but not Hank, retired butcher from Brooklyn.
  12. Interesting, thanks. Why do you think the Thai Rd would investigate one of its citizens? Could it be if they have regular bank deposits from abroad?
  13. As the Buddhists say, “Change is never painful, only resistance to change is painful.” According to Buddhism, everything in human life, all objects, as well as all beings whether in heavenly or hellish or earthly realms in Buddhist cosmology, is always changing, inconstant, undergoes rebirth and redeath (Samsara). This impermanence is a source of dukkha.
  14. Thailand approved its first spot in Bitcoin ETF, with One Asset Management joining the growing list of jurisdictions approving regulated Bitcoin funds. https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/thailand-approves-the-first-spot-bitcoin-etf
  15. Yes, thanks. So Thais in the UK, US, Australia pay tax on their foreign income but those countries' citizens residing in Thailand think they don't need to do the same. Interesting.
  16. Exactly what I was thinking. Nice to see you again btw 🙂
  17. Thanks, interesting and maybe this is one reason the Thai government are planning the same.
  18. Out of interest, does a Thai resident in the UK or USA have to pay tax on foreign income?
  19. I think a fairer way to tax foreigners here would be to have some kind of Poll Tax, similar to the one Margaret Thatcher introduced in Scotland in 1989. Why should foreigners be able to utilize Thailand's public services in the same way as Thai taxpayers? I mean services like roads, public transport, education, etc. I think it unfair that my Norwegian neighbor pays no tax here yet uses the same road, his daughter is at the same school and they use the same songtaew etc.
  20. I mean the Thai RD - they are looking for large monies from rich individuals and corporations earning monies abroad. I could be wrong but believe they don't care about foreigners unless they are bringing in 1 million +.
  21. They are not worried about foreigners leaving as they will get huge dividends from rich Thais, more than making up for any monies foreigners spend.
  22. Yes, my point being paying tax is not related to health benefits. I agree, you should get a Resident ID card to get certain discounts.
  23. Thais who pay tax don't get free healthcare because of this.
  24. Hardly, the one i know is a beautiful Thai/Norwegian
