Sometimes it feels like it....There are days when I think how nice it would be to be working a trout stream in the Sierras or driving the Pacific Coast Highway - both of which was a short drive from home....
Now, surrounded by flat rice fields it's a world away.....
Fortunately we have an RV & car in storage for our extended trips back....
Family has a closer, more intimate relationship here, which is a plus.....
Having had all the toys in the west brings back some wistful memories.....
Growing up & living in California (before the current insanity) gives mixed thoughts.....
But, I am not unhappy here....So, I don't feel "stuck"....I have a happy family life & purpose here.....
My family in the US follows the "independent" mode & is much more fragmented than my Thai family here.....
Basically, I miss some areas & recreation opportunities from the US; but, I'm happy here....
At 77 there's not much out there left to conquer - and, I've accomplished most of that....

Make my own....Crispy crust with Italian pepper salami, ham, mushrooms, & onions....I make 2 or 3 at a time.....
I can make 3 very large for the price of one large dining out..... There's 4 of us so the 10-12" local pizzas don't cut it.....

77 now.....When I was in my 30's I worked for about a year in downtown L.A.....It was a zoo then....Crowded, predators doing their hustle everywhere, people loitering everywhere you looked, people defecating in parking lots was pretty common.....Mostly Hispanic.....My office was at a corner "storefront" location....I could watch the parade every day....
EXCEPT
When Immigration was making sweeps.....Then, the streets were empty, businesses shuttered, & parking was available....
There was a huge illegal problem then....
IMO, if anything, the numbers are understated now....

Why do Thais not have a built-in oven
Because many use outside cooking techniques .....
Dishwashers are few also....I doubt there's any trash compactors around either.....

I plan on making my own bread and cakes and need an oven that can reach temps of 250 C or as close to it as possible. I don’t know what brands are good. I trust your personal experience over blogs.
Thank you very much.
After looking around I got this from Lazada....
It far exceeds the one I replaced & excels in bread & pizza.....I have fresh homemade toast every morning.....
It will accept 3 racks....It has separate temperature controls for upper and lower....It has a convection option that we hardly use....The 80 liter is a good size as it fits baking pans/cookie sheets.....
I wish I'd have found this one sooner....They also have 60 & 100 liter sizes.....
We are a family of 4 and it handles our demands easily.....Good to 250 on both elements.....I use at 200 unless browning something like trays of chicken wings.....
It has an interior light, which is handy.....

It mostly missed me, just rain off and on.
The Khlong next to our MuBaan has breached into a expanse of rice fields....
There's a banana plantation at the end of our Soi....Their reservoir is about 8ft deep & a 1/4 - 1/3 acre in area....It was bone dry with no in flowing water source..... It's now full.....
We're on the SPT-HD border.....

The 7-11 that's within 200 meters of my Daughters high school has higher prices on small snacks versus the 7-11 6k further down the road on the way home.....Chips & other packaged items seem the same....They also carry more of the larger sized snack items....Eliminating some choices.....

Driving in CM yesterday about 85-90% had helmets......
Once heading back home to a more rural area I'd estimate that number around 65-75% wearing helmets.....
They don't have pursuit vehicles & they have to set up sporatic roadblocks to net the the non helmet offenders.....
Unknown if they fine via traffic cameras.....Which are not everywhere....
Without pursuit vehicles there will never be compliance + the wide open spaces of rural Thailand would be almost impossible to patrol & enforce....

The company that built it was already in bankruptcy before it was built....
There's not much hope for reclamation....
It didn't draw in many shoppers....Even on it's best days....

That's really sad, among the food delivery services, Foodpanda was the one that gave me the best experience.
Do Line Man or Grab now have a website to order from ?
Line Man has it's own app.... It's worked well for us....
I use it mostly for shopping Big C....
My wife uses it for takeout delivery.....
They've used for a taxi service twice & it went smoothly....

Been there too.
I actually like that park more.....The way it's built into the hill + exploring the outlying temples on the river.....
Plus, the huge bats, unlike any I've seen before - or after.....

Been there. Great little town. Kamphaeng Phet is good too. Hated Phimai though. They key for me is nice restaurants and good hotel options.
. Additionally, Si Satchanalai Historical Park deserves a look.....About 20-30k from Sukhothai.....More charm than Sukhothai & about the same size....

When I did border jumps in Mae Sai back in the day.....
There were markets across the river & boats ferrying people back and forth from one side to the other....
All you'd have to do is take a boat across & not come back.....
