Want to know the direction society is going in general, and the youth, just take a look at the posts on TV (and Face Book) and you will see the same kinds of language and disrespect for others.

Posters on this blog ask the same questions over and over and over and over. Nobody makes any effort to find the answers themselves by reading the posts or pinned info, or going to the source. The same people with massive message counts give the same answers over and over and over that nobody seems to read.

Occassionaly there are unusual circumstances that require special answers, but most have been repeated many many times and are found in other websites on the internet. Easier to ask than put in effort to find out.

My Thai Niece used SCB in China (Kunming). She takes out 5000 bah in Chinese currency per month during her studies. When I update her book in Thailand, there are 3- 100 baht charges added. Two I think are from the Chinese bank side, and 100 baht from SCB. I also don't know exactly what the exchange rate is, but she has no choice. When we use a foreign card here, there are charges in both places, so imagine it is the samein Europe.

FYI: The officer stressed to us twice that for marriage extension, only two months seasoning of 400,000 Bht is required. For extensions based on retirement, 3 months seasoning reauired. (CM Immigration)

Renewed extension baqsed on marriage at Chiangmai Immigration. I had required balance there for 3 months based. We were told in no uncertain terms that for marriage extension, only two months required. Three months is only for retired extension. Not what seems to fly around TV. When I questioned it, she again stressed 2 months for marriage extension, and 3 months for retired extension. Same officer has worked our extensions at least 12 of the 15 times we have been in Chiangmai. Can't say what everyone else does.

Made our appointment many months ago. Went in today and waitied until the appointed time. Since making my appointment they went to appointments every 30 minutes. The problem now is that the officer can't get through some couples that are new at it or don't have the proper documents. Went up to the desk and was told by three different people, three different things. Finally the girl took it and put on the officer's desk. When we checked again after 11:00, the officer did not know we were waiting.

Once into the back the paperwork was handled extremely fast and done in 20 minutes. The hourly appointments gave them extra time, the half hour appointment get hectic and at times confusing. Same Officer has processed us 12 out of 15 times, so the women discussed everything, and I just handed the docs as required and signed whatever she threw at me.

Now have to wait until 90 days out to make an appointment for the same date for the next one. On it goes, but better with the appoinment system than without it. Progress is made, even though slow! Can remember the days without it.

Nothing to do with most of the negative poster's comments above. Has to do with the worldwide efforts to stop money laundering. Follow the rules and you'll get your account, but don't let them see your negative comments about how bad Thailand is or "They don't want us here" comments.

Use in connection with free Outpost Security Sweet to scan for malware etc. Used to use the heavy duty free ones, but as they keep getting bigger, they waste space and are not any more efficient. NEVER had a virus invect the computer before these two above catch them.

Quite a few sick responses on this post against a 93 year old with possible mental problems due to age. Let the authorities and Embassy sort it out without all the TV psychologists and lynchmen adding their comments. Hard to do when you have nothing else to do with your lives, but trying to stay in Thailand.

I agree True is doing a good job on coverage. I disagree about the best opening ceremony to me I was very disapproved and bored with it. The LA Olympic opening ceremony was so mjuch better. I still think NBC did a excellent job covering the Olympics. But of course they coverage mostly USA events and other big events, but who would want to watch anything else.

The LA Olympics was hated by those who took part and known as "The Corporate Games", top heavy with Coca Cola sponsorship and very impersonal. All I remember of that opening ceremony is hundreds of Grand Pianos and men with Jetpacks zooming around!!

I guess you are American, Nowhereman, after all, everything that comes out of the USA couldnt possibly be bettered by anyone else, could it!!!

Hope they catch all and fine them dearly to let these clubs and places ignorihng the ban during a Buddhist Holiday and the law what will happen if they break the law. That's the problem with rule of law in Thailand. Everyone, man many Foreigners alike, ignore the laws here like they don't exhist.

Why are there so many ridiculous posts in the form of questions to get people commenting? A very few are reasonable, but many are fluff. I guess it builds up the poster counts. It comes across as fishing to remove the bordom of having too much time.

Once here in Chiangmai there are plenty of options to get around. Don't worry. Find out for yourself. Every kind of transportation you can imagine. Some of the above comments are ridiculous.

Love my cheap TOT intenet. Since replacing 14 year old phone wire in the house, never any problems unless thier are major problems in the area. They always have fixed in a few hours or less after notifying them. Seems more money paid does not give better connections and/or service inThailand.

Not a summer Olympic fan, but last night I flip flopped through at least 8 True channels, some in HD, covering recorded and live events. There is nothing anyone should complain about. There will be people complain about True no matter what they do because people thing their needs should be priority over the other subscribers.

Siam Commercial, Chiangmai- Thai Niece needed an account with debit card. She is in 11th grade. She was going to China for 8 months of intensive Chinese language study. Went in to SCB and ask for a savings account with debit card in her name. Once waited on, everything was done and 15 minutes later off we went. She withdraws money by ATM in China every month. I keep the book to add money in CM.

It's common. Getting ready to open joint account with our son to put SSA money in as a savings account for college in 5 years. Go talk to to them. Good luck.

Poorly thought out move.

The hubs keep coming. If this hub gets going, forget about getting reasably priced health care in Thailand. Farangs already pay too much compared to locals.

This is too serious a matter, especially in the South, to be treated lightly by farang guests in this country. To many innocent people, including women, children, and monks, are dieing. Show a little more respect for the situation.

I'm glad they are getting a long holiday. They work pretty hard handling everything!

Go to the shop NOW (today, before midnight), stock up on all the booze and beer you need to survive those 2 short days - problem solved. Why do we have pages and pages of disgruntled posts EACH AND EVERY TIME such a holiday comes around? This NOT the first time alcohol sales are banned in Thailand, you know... GET OVER IT!

And if you're getting out of town: you'll ALWAYS find a shop willing to sell you a few bottles, and regardless of the ban.

Another solution is the visiting alcoholics that can't go a day or two with out their fix in respect for a religious holiday can just go home to their own country. Respect their religion and holidays or leave. Simple solution!

First the comments on other posts complain about the law and order and police in Thailand. Then when they do something that might help catch some of the gangsters and criminals, they make fun of the news. Thailand is Amazing. The Farang guests in this country is not amazing.
