Anybody have/had experience with Standard Chartered bank and opening a HK account with them via an overseas branch....as in Bangkok for example.

Got my new tyres yesterday.....99k km's.....awesome.

Could not believe when they took them off and put in the back...measured the tread against new ones and they were roughly half way down......could have easily done another 20k on them.

but with the wet season, kids, distance done and 2 and half years old and 99k on them......had a good run, not one puncture, no leaks, still drove straight and true, no wobbles nothing.......incredible life and quality compared to past in Oz 15 years ago.

From what I gather that if you pay taxes in your country then you will not have to here....is that right ??

Does gst count ??....which of the dozen or so sneaky underhanded taxes would they like to see that I pay ??.....council tax, land tax, gst tax, bend over tax.....??

From what I gather you may have to file the required yearly documents....but you may only have to state that 'you are not applicable' or whatever as you have no income.

I think I will be doing the HK route shortly myself.....but I like the BVI better.....can do that later though.

Anyway, a good hotel to stay for a night, must have good pool and preferably stuff for kids to do.....we have stayed at the Korat Resort before out near the immigration centre.....anywhere else in town that is good with facilities ?

Western food....pizza or such...where is a good family type place.

Any other things to do or see ??.....not the zoo, kids been with school and I hear its crap...ish.
